Thanks for joining Kim and me for the Weekly Run Down today. Happy Passover and Easter everyone. It sure will be a holiday week we won’t soon forget. We just ended our 4th week of “stay at home” and I finally getting into some sort of new schedule. Here’s a peek into how my week went down.
Weekly Run Down Passover and Easter Week
Monday- Peloton cycle, core + strength + 1.5 mile afternoon walk
Well this was first for me! I was at the curbside pickup at Total Beverage at 10 am on. a Monday morning. Yup things have changed!
Hitting it hard this Monday with a boxing inspired strength training workout. Jab, cross and upper cuts Tabata style 45/45 seconds. Feeling the burn.
Tuesday- Hope uncanceled Virtual 5K + stretch class
I found an empty school parking lot to run laps in. Way better than the crazy hills in my neighborhood. A beautiful spring day to be outside and channel my inner tiger queen 🙂
Wednesday-45 Min Elliptical + Core + Arms and Jump Rope + 1 mile afternoon walk
Mixed it up with a little elliptical today. Decided to try my own jump rope workout. It was so hard! I forgot how much fun it was to jump rope and what a great cardio workout it can be. If you missed it, find it here.
Wednesday was the start of Passover and it sure was one we will never forget. Very ironic that Passover dinner was canceled due to an actual plague. Fortunately, we were able to celebrate virtually via zoom with our family and do an abbreviated sedar.
Thursday- 3 mile run + core and stretch
My back and hip started to feel a little weird today. Ended up walking a bit more than I wanted to but I figure it’s okay right now. I imagine I am just overdoing it a bit on the exercise front and maybe all the stuff I am doing around the house. The flowers are just gorgeous right now and did not want to miss them.
Friday-Peloton cycle + arms + core
Super windy day meant an indoor workout. Loving trying out new strength training classes and working my arms more.
Saturday- Peloton cycle and stretch + 4 mile afternoon walk
Clipped into a charity ride that Peloton and Axios was hosting to benefit the Cornell Medical Center. All money raised will go towards child care and meals for the hospital staff. While I feel as though I cannot do much to help out during this crisis, I can use my passion for good when the opportunity arises.
Sunday- Not sure yet!
This Passover and Easter week actually seemed to go by a little faster. I plan to add more stretching and yoga in this week and hopefully that will loosen up my back a bit.
Good News! Since we had such a great response to our challenge, we are extending it! Join us!
Thanks so much for joining us today. We really hope this space gives you all a place to connect and feel “normal” during these stressful times. Our little community here is very special
Catrina says
Congrats on your Hope Uncancelled Virtual 5k! I did mine on Thursday.
I never thought about the fact that the first Passover was connected to the 10th plague. Today’s situation is very ironic indeed!
Love the Tiger Queen shorts, LOL!
Deborah Brooks says
Very ironic indeed! One to remember for sure.
Liz Dexter says
You must be so glad to have Peleton. I have managed to run 16.1 miles this week including a pre-breakfast distance record of 6.4 miles on Saturday, but my photos are so empty and lonely and people are so anti-runners here at the moment, I’m still disinclined to blog about it. Love to all the link-uppers though!
Deborah Brooks says
I am so thankful for my Peloton yes. It’s sure been a lifesaver. I am so glad that you are still getting out there for your runs. It really helps! It is harder to take photos for sure but I am just looking for pretty trees to photo
Darlene S. Cardillo says
I’ve been making myself get outside. Yeah there are some days that I so wish I had a stationary bike.
Congrats on your virtual race. I have a half next sat.
Zoom has been great. Love chatting with my friends.
Didn’t realize the 19 days were over lol
Happy Passover.
Deborah Brooks says
Happy Passover to you as well. It’s a weird one! Getting outside daily is my sanity for sure as well as the Peloton
Marcia says
I think we are both more active than ever during this pandemic! It burns off the crazy. We did Zoom Passover as well alas I failed to take any pics. My bad. Thanks for the linkup!
Deborah Brooks says
I know it sure does help to just keep moving doesn’t it!? Happy Passover to you as well
Kimberly Hatting says
I had thought about the irony of Passover happening during an actual plague as well… just another twist to the crazy situation we’re forging through. Take care of that back & let’s crush these next chapter of 19 days ((fist bump)) 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
Fist bump (or elbow bump as we do it now) right back at you!
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie says
Yay! I’m glad that 19 for 19 is continuing, it’s been so much fun to tag it. Picking up wine at 10 on a Monday morning may have been a first but I think it’s a good tradition to continue, I mean what better way to be prepared for everything that the week has in store;-) And I love your tiger shorts, I need to get some.
Deborah Brooks says
Well that’s one way to look at it! cannot be too prepared right? Glad you will be continuing w the challenge
Wendy says
Did you see the Uncanceled Project extended for 2 more weeks? While I’m happy about that, I’m not happy that this thing is continuing! I wonder when I’ll be back to work.
Like you, I’ve been overdoing it and yesterday’s 10 miler fail (altho I did finish it) is a result of that. Today, I’m taking it easy. Ugh.
Have a good week!
Deborah Brooks says
I did see that it has been extended. I like the new 8k option as well. I need to do a better job at stretching so I do not get injured again
Cari says
Using passion for good is such a perfect phrase. Same here – also funding some who are makig masks as I have creative chops of a shoe.
Hope your hip & back are feeling better.
Not sure if it’s on my end or yours-but the link to the jump rope workout doesn’t work. I haven’t done that due to 5th floor walk up, but I felt the same re: a hula hoop one I was doing.
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks I fixed the link- maybe you will give it a twirl (see what I did there?) Hula Hoop sounds fun too!
Melissa says
I’ve been trying to get in my runs as usual! Hardest a motivated for a virtual race and I’m getting much less sleep now due to being busy or so it’s hard to wake up early. But I definitely wish I had a peloton right now!
Deborah Brooks says
It is hard to get motivated for sure. I am very thankful for my peloton. Hang in there!
Cari says
Hula hoop ones are fun. Not as rewarding as the old Wii game ones, but still one of those things – like jump rope – that was so fun we never thought of it as exercise. Kohls even had a version of Skip It a few years ago!
Deborah Brooks says
Those games were so fun!
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
My brother zoomed with his MIL for Passover, but it’s hard to drag my sister in the current decade, even though she has her daughter temporarily living with her. And my mom just has no way to video. I tried a few options but none of them panned out. 🙁
Hope your hips start feeling better. I didn’t sign up for any of the uncanceled project, but I do love their themes! Chag Sameach, Deborah!
Deborah Brooks says
Happy Passover to and yours as well. It is sure one to remember. I am proud of my parents for figuring out how to zoom (after a few tries). I don’t know what is up w my hips just need to stretch more this week!
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Another week, and still no Zoom meetings for me. I am missing out! My week was a bit all over the place with workouts. So many different things to do now that I have some free time! I’m not really trying to push myself at all with the virtual races. It’s just been a good excuse to get my son out running and I’ll be taking it easy for sure on my upcoming half. Who knows how my body will be feeling then! Good job on the workouts this week!
Deborah Brooks says
You are missing out on the zoom calls give them a try!
Jessie says
My sister is Jewish and the past three years, we have always gone to her house for Passover….I was so sad to miss it this year! It has become a great tradition since she moved to Minnesota! She added a new plague to these hats her kids wear (all in good fun) that was for Covid 19…Got to have a sense of humor about it I suppose! She’s a doctor and dealing with it every day.
Anyways, you had a great week of activities! I love the pic with the beautiful tree and green grass! The nice weather definitely helps sheltering in place, right? Thanks for hosting the link-up! More important than ever!
Deborah Brooks says
You do have to keep a sense of humor for sure! Hope your sister is staying well through all of this. Yes it sure does help to have nice weather
Kim G says
Awesome job on all of your workouts this week. I’m glad that you were able to enjoy Passover virtually with friends and family. I’m doing the same thing today for Easter. It’s definitely very strange but at least we have great technology to connect with people!
I hope I can join the next Peloton charity ride – I need to check their Twitter account more often! Thanks for extending the #19for19challenge!
Deborah Brooks says
I only found out about the charity ride last minute as well. I will keep on the lookout for us both!
Coco says
LOL on the 10 am Total Beverage run–don’t they deliver? 😉 I am glad you were able to Zoom for Passover. We saw my Mom across her yard yesterday, so I don’t think we’ll try any new technology today. Are your kids still coping OK?
Deborah Brooks says
Yes even my parents are figuring out Zoom and we have had a few. Glad you got to see your mom 🙂 My kids are hanging in just bored I think.
angela @ happy fit mama says
So many Zoom calls! I feel like our days are full just because of Zoom. It helps pass the time, that’s for sure. I’m hoping our flowers start to bud soon. I saw a Forsythia tree in all its yellow blooms yesterday and made me so happy.
Deborah Brooks says
It sure does help the time pass and it’s nice to see friendly faces
Michelle D. says
Looks like a great week!
Happy to see the #19for19 challenge extended – I can certainly use the extra motivation 🙂
Have a good week ahead!
Deborah Brooks says
Great I think we all can!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
Easter and Passover celebrations were certainly very different this year. Who would have ever dreamed how different things would be?
I hope your back and hip pain are nothing serious and go away as quickly as they came. Take care and stay safe!
Deborah Brooks says
They were very different indeed! I think my little aches are just me over doing it a bit and not stretching enough thanks
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
I’ve been working out more too with everything that’s been going on. I try to go on a walk just about every day to get out of the house. My dad works for total wine:) No judgement here for making a trip on a Monday morning!
Deborah Brooks says
ha ha it was quite convenient!
Chaitali says
I decided to keep Friday indoors because of the wind too! That was some crazy weather we had. It sounds like it was a good week for you overall! I hope your back feels better this week.
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks I think I just over did it a bit
Zenaida Arroyo says
My cousins and I have been meeting via Zoom on Saturday evenings. It’s been fun seeing each other and catching up. My sister that lives in Mexico was able to join us too. I did 5 runs this week. I was surprised I got out that much. 🙂 We’re not much of “Easter people” so yesterday was just another Sunday for us.
Deborah Brooks says
Glad you had a great weekend with zoom family calls
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
I’m glad you were able to still have a nice Passover with your family. I went to my first Seder last year hosted by friends and it was wonderful…hopefully I’ll be able to experience it again next year.
Great job with the workouts as always! I’m definitely saving that jump rope workout, though I think I may need to work my way up to the challenge!
Have a great week!
Deborah Brooks says
It was nice to celebrate yes. That’s great that you got to experience a seder they are kind of interesting.
Jenn says
We are going to have a giant makeup celebration when this is over. St. Patrick’s Day/Passover/Easter/A’s birthday/my birthday/Mother’s Day, heck, even my mom’s birthday and Father’s Day if need be. that’s what is getting me through all this. Focusing on the celebration ahead.
I’m glad you had a nice seder, even if it wasn’t the same. We couldn’t even Zoom our Easter dinner because my mom got called into work. Ugh.
<3
Deborah Brooks says
Yes we will all have lots of celebrations ahead! WE just have to make it through
Hannah says
I’m also feeling the need for more stretching and yoga. Haven’t quite managed it yet!
Deborah Brooks says
On my plan for today!
