Unofficial Start to Summer Weekly Run Down

Hello Memorial Day weekend and the unofficial start to summer. Thanks for joining Kim and me for the weekly run down. It was another busy week around here. Here is a peek into my week of fitness and fun.

weekly run down

Unofficial start to summer

Sunday- fly home (rest day)

We flew home from Chicago but not before I got in my Peloton core and barre class. I have to unpack my bags as soon as I get home or it drives me crazy. How about you? After all the yummy food we ate in Chicago, I was anxious to get the grocery store and plan some healthier meals for the next few days.

Monday-Peloton walk + Full body strength + core + stretch

I was in the mood for a new strength challenge today and started Andy’s Density Strength program. It will b 3x week of strength for 4 weeks. I plan to do a full review at the end but the general gist is that it is set rep goals for each set block using heavy weights. There was very little rest and it was a great workout. We are also on week 4 of Olivia’s May core challenge.

Weekly run down

Tuesday- 5.5 mile run/walk + core + stretch

With our favorite rose garden in full bloom, we couldn’t pass up a chance to take in the view and smell the roses again. Still running and taking some walk breaks and doing the best I can.

Weekly run down

Wednesday- warm up walk Peloton + Peloton density strength training day 2 + core + barre

Day 2 of Andy’s density strength training program which focused on high density reps for upper body and core. I thought I had chosen too light of a weight for the bicep curls but those got heavy fast! Followed that up with a core and barre class.

Weekly run down

Wednesday evening we drove out to the Inn at Little Washington to officially celebrate our anniversary. It is a very renown restaurant about 1 1/2 hours from DC in a very small middle of nowhere town. We look forward to celebrating there every year and we stayed overnight. It was so good and I ate way too much!

Thursday-core and yoga

We drove back home after breakfast and decided this would be a modified rest day. I did my Peloton core and yoga to keep up my streak. Testing out some New Brooks Running gear.

Unofficial start to summer

Friday- Peloton walk + core + full body strength

I finished up the first week of the density training program with Andy. Lots of compound moves and lots of chest presses. I love to mix up my strength workouts and so far I am enjoying this program.

Unofficial start to summer

Today is also the unofficial start to summer (for me) and Melanoma Awareness Day. Consider this your reminder to apply sunscreen daily. See my top picks for face here.

Saturday-Peloton walk and core

With my run planned for tomorrow, I took advantage of the gorgeous weather for a 3 mile peloton walk and core class.

Happy Anniversary! Sounds like it was an excellent week. I know you chafe a bit about having to modify runs, but you’re doing great and you’re taking great care of your body.

I am sure trying! It’s just frustrating to be in a certain place and then have it all come crashing down due to medication side effects. I am determined to figure it out though

Yes, I would say Memorial Day is the unofficial start to summer! I love the photo of you and your husband- happy anniversary! I know, it’s frustrating to be in such great shape and then feel like you’re starting all over again. You’re doing great and will definitely get there. You’ll look back on this as a little “blip” on your fitness trajectory. Not so easy while you’re going through it though. You are definitely looking very fit and strong!

      05/28/2023 at 11:48 am

Thanks Jenny I hope that’s what happens. I am doing the best I can while at the same time feeling like I fell off of a cliff.

the density program sounds GREAT! and you had a good week! don’t you just love the little traditions we keep with our spouses? Y’all cleaned up really well for your anniversary dinner. Thanks for the reminder for sunscreen! I have to say I have been religiously putting it on my face since I had my two age spots removed. Before I was doing it about 80% of the time, now it’s 100%. And now that the arms and legs are seeing more sun we’ve got that “covered” as well .

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/29/2023 at 6:11 pm

Yes, I have had a few things taken off of my face as well so I try to be vigilant about it now

I’m very intrigued by Andy’s density strength program and also the “Pump It Up” collection. I love that Peloton continues to keep things fresh by always releasing new programs, etc.

As you know I am definitely not thrilled about the unofficial start of summer, so I’m already counting down to the Fall, lol.

      05/29/2023 at 6:12 pm

I am very intrigued to try one of the strength programs. There’s so much to choose from on the platform right now,.. and with all the trackers that I am following… I need about 5 more hours in my day LOL
