Thanks for joining Coco and me for the Ultimate Coffee Date March linkup. These are always some of my most favorite posts to read and to write. Since we cannot all get together for a real in person coffee date, let’s do the next best thing. Pour yourself of cup of your favorite coffee, take a seat and tell us what’s on your mind.

Ultimate Coffee Date March

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

I did an interview on a podcast! Yes someone actually wanted to interview me for their podcast. I connected with Carolee Walker recently about her book, Getting my bounce back, and her own fitness journey. Full book review coming soon and a link to her podcast when it is up. A fun new experience that I will tell you more about soon.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

My Cherry Blossom training is right on track. I am really reigning in my desire to run all the miles. I have made the mistake so many times of adding in miles too quickly when I feel good only to end up getting injured. My conservative approach is going well. It definitely helps that so many women in my MRTT group are currently training for the same race. Race date April 8th. Got our long run done mid week this week too!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

I am headed up to NYC this morning with my family to help my niece celebrate her 16th birthday. We have packed our weekend schedule full of fun activities from seeing a ballet at Lincoln Center to doing Hip Hop Hot Yoga. We also have some spa time set up at Lush. I know it won’t be the same without my sister (her mom whom we recently lost) but I hope the rest of us can make the weekend special for her.

I’ve gotta run! Tell me, if we were having an Ultimate coffee date what would you tell me?

Also adding in a quick weekly wrap with Wendy and Hoho here:

Sunday- 8 miles done with my cherry blossom training group

Monday-30 min + 60 m strength training + 2 mile walk with a friend

Tuesday- 4 mile run + 60 m hot yoga

Wednesday- 90 min kickboxing and strength training

Thursday- did my long run mid week 8 miles

Friday- yoga class

Saturday-day off/ NYC travel

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

So glad to hear you are not overdoing training. That, and totally skipping out on training are two of the most common running mistakes I see. Have so much fun celebrating with your niece this weekend. How tough to lose her mom/your sis at such a tender age. My heart hurts thinking about it. Thanks for the linkup!

I”m so intrigued by that book! I just got bounced hard by my oldest son and a new twist in his continual need to self-destruct. That’s what I’d be talking about over coffee this morning. Going to run it off.

    Thanks for the coffee.

I hope you have safe travels to NYC after all the crazy weather they’re getting up in the NE. Doing a podcast interview I’m sure was a blast! I’ve done a couple myself now and you know you’ve got a good host when you feel like you’re talking to an old friend.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      03/03/2018 at 11:58 am

Yes exactly! I was not at all as nervous as I expected to be. Crazy weather indeed. We just got our power back late last night

Hope you’re having a great weekend and that you’re able to help your niece feel special. I lost my mom unexpectedly when I was 17, so I know how hard it can be but also how important family is during such a tragedy.

Your training is coming along so well! And congrats on the podcast interview. That’s exciting and I’m looking forward to hearing more about it.

So much awesome in one post! Yay for the podcast and congrats on your training. You are working your butt off! If we were having coffee I would tell you that I had a great 1st race of the year but I’m a little nervous about my training being off track. I’m just chugging along best I can!

I think your sister would be very happy to know you’ll be spending the weekend with your niece to celebrate her birthday! Your training is going great for Cherry Blossom. I often make the mistake of too much too soon. It’s very hard to reign it in when you feel good. Sorry I missed the coffee date. Thanks for linking.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      03/05/2018 at 8:36 am

It is hard to reign it in when you feel good! I have to stay focused with one month to go. And thanks we did have a really nice weekend

  30. Lesley says

    03/05/2018 at 10:52 am

Great job on training. I’ve learned the hard way too to not add on the miles quickly. I will get injured, and I’d rather end with a strong run than adding another mile and ending up hurt.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      03/05/2018 at 1:32 pm

Yes exactly! Have a great week
