Thanks for joining Coco and me for Ultimate Coffee Date Happy New Year Edition today. These are always some of my favorite posts to write and read. I know we all have tons to talk about today, so let’s get right to it. Grab your mugs and let’s chat.
Ultimate Coffee Date Happy New Year Edition
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
I am not a resolutions person at all. The word itself “resolutions” sounds like a problem that needs to be solved. No “new year new me”. I am going to stick with the same fabulous me ha. I did give my blog a nice little mini makeover though. What do you think of the new layout?
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
We played this give me something positive that starts with the letter of your first name in our MRTT group. Want to play along? What’s your positive word to take into 2020? Mine is determination.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
Looks like I will have a chance to go up to NYC with my hubs in a few weeks for a quick visit. I am furiously pedaling away on my Peloton so that I can attend my 200th ride at the studio. Now I just how to figure out how to get into a class with my Denis. Ha ha! I am also hoping that my running rehab continues to progress so that I can do another City Running Tour up there too.
I am definitely monopolizing our Coffee Date. It’s your turn. If we were having coffee today, what would you tell me on this New Year Edition?
Catrina says
Love this new layout! Clean, elegant and fresh!
I have 90-day goals and a 10-year vision, so I am not all that into yearly resolutions either.
Great game! My positive word would be “cheerful”.
Deborah Brooks says
Cheerful is a great one. I like the idea of short and long term goals. Looking forward to watching you crush them
Kimberly Hatting says
WOW, you’re approaching your 200th ride? I knew your numbers were high, but that’s amazing! My word would be Kindness….it’s something I appreciate from others, and it’s what makes the world a better place 🙂 Happy 2020, Deborah!!
Deborah Brooks says
I totally agree and Kindness is a perfect word for you Kim. Happy new year
Marcia says
I love the new blog layout! I want to hire someone to do all the back-end blog stuff I loathe. Let’s go with Mindful for a positive word for the New Year.
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks it is fun to update things. Janice from our group did it for me she is great and very reasonable.Check her out if you are interested. I like mindful!
Wendy says
If anyone can get in a class with Denis, it will be you! Looking forward to hearing the details!
Hmmm… my word would be winsome. 🙂
Love the new blog layout!
Deborah Brooks says
Hmm winsome how creative! I thought it was time for a little blog update for the new decade 🙂
Coco says
I love the look on the posts page. On your landing page I have to remember to scroll down to find your latest post but it’s a nice banner of highlighted posts on top. I need to do some tweaking on my blog. The last Jetpack update led to errors so I just deleted it, and now have to figure out if I need it back. Good luck with your Peleton goal — how many rides until 200?
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks I like the look of it as well. Janice from our group did it she is great and really inexpensive if you are looking for some help. I am up to 175 rides after today and I have 2 weeks so I think I will get there!
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
You aren’t monopolizing! I did a running tour with Darlene once. It was a lot of fun (although their pace was difficult for me!).Usually they go at your pace, though, so I think you’ll be fine.
Hopefully next Friday I’ll have a new yoga video — with some bonus gifts! — about setting intentions and words for the new year up.I am, obviously, a big fan of change, as my Tuesday post highlighted.
i noticed the blog change! I seriously need to do this too — so much to do, so little time.
Deborah Brooks says
I was nervous about signing up for the run tour again bc I am still recovering so the one on one will be perfect for me. I won’t feels stressed to keep up. I am so excited to see your new yoga video. Make sure to give us all the link. Janice from our group did my update for me she is great and very reasonable.
Maureen @ Maureen Gets Real says
Ooo that word one is tough! My word for 2020 is growth so something similar is motion like motion forward. Not sure if that makes sense lol.
If we were having coffee I would tell you that I signed up for a half marathon in March which is exciting.
Deborah Brooks says
motion is good! That is exciting about your half happy training and looking forward to following along
Zenaida Arroyo says
New year and a new blog layout! 🙂 I would love to have someone work on my blog too. Some of my posts look so weird because in the beginning, I went back and forth between WordPress and Blogger before I finally decided on WordPress. How exciting about your trip to NY. Even more exciting about your 200th ride. I have no idea how many I have but it cannot be more than 50. As for a word, well, that is hard as there are not too many words with a “Z”.
Deborah Brooks says
How about zealous!? You can track your Peloton rides in the profile tab on the app or the bike 🙂 I like to hit my milestones and find it very motivating
Janice Smith says
I love your word!!! Is it ok if my one word for 2020 starts with the same letter as my middle name? This year my word is: MOVE. I want to motivate myself to MOVE more. I love your weekly recap posts – I got away from that when I took my blog a different direction, and when I stopped writing about my fitness my motivation to MOVE dropped. I had no idea how much my blogging was inspiring myself! Weekly wrap is Sunday, right? I should join in using my “other” blog.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes you sure can use “move”. The weekly run down (that’s what we call it now) really does motivate me to “move” more and keeps me accountable. We would love to have you back. It’s really been a great record for me of my accomplishments and a fantastic way to connect. It’s Sunday at 1 pm through Monday noon. Join us!
Laurie says
Nice blog layout. It looks good, so clean and new! I hope you get to do the running tour with no twinges!
Hmmm…one word beginning with “L”…I guess I will say “laugh”, because what else can you do when problems strike? On NYE we were at a party with friends. Bill said something that struck me as funny and I laughed until tears were streaming down my cheeks. I can’t remember the last time I laughed like that!
Let us know how the Peloton class with Denis goes. I am sure you will get there!
Deborah Brooks says
I love those laughs that make you cry! Have to enjoy those moments for sure
Chaitali says
I agree that I’m not a fan of the new year, new me idea. It just doesn’t sound positive to me. Sounds like a fun trip to NYC! That would be cool to be able to have the 200th class in the studio.
Deborah Brooks says
I know I hope I can make it happen!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
I would tell you that I just couldn’t get it together this week to write a coffee date post. 🙁 I had a busy work week, plus I tweaked my back which had me napping when I wasn’t with clients…
You’ve got to do your 200th ride in person with Denis! Use that “determination” to make it happen. 😉
Have a great weekend!
Deborah Brooks says
Oh no worries you can catch up next month! I hope your back feels better. This time of the year is crazy exhausting sometimes
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
The new log layout looks great! Mine could really use a refresh – now to find someone to hire!
Congrats on your 200th ride – you reached that milestone quickly! Enjoy NYC 🙂
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Oops – that should read blog not log! LOL!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks! Janice from our group helped me out she is really good and very reasonable if you are interested
The Accidental Marathoner says
I love the new look of the blog! Very clean. I’m with you on the resolutions. Especially waiting until the first of the year to make them. Why not start today? I’ll choose Light for the word you can carry with you into 2020. You bring it to so many!
Deborah Brooks says
Aww thanks Linda and I love that word. Light is perfect 🙂 Hope to see you at some point this year
Katie says
I like the blog refresh – easier to read! The only thing I miss (and it’s not a big deal) is how it used to list the # of comments both at the top, and above where the comments themselves begin.
I need to think of a “K” word that fits but it’s a tough letter. That’ll be my project to focus on during yoga later!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks for the feedback. I had not noticed that about the comment area I will take a look. Appreciate your commenting as always. Happy new year
Erica says
Adventure! You’re always on fun trips and such! Fun idea – thanks for sharing it!
Deborah Brooks says
Adventure is always good isn’t it!?
Cari says
I quit making resolutions as I never keep them. I didn’t even think I “should” be this year, which was nice. They also often seem too negative to me.
Let me know when you’re here. I have no idea what the state of my running will be, but would love to see you for a coffee, hug or what not.
Deborah Brooks says
Hi I will let you our NY schedule when we figure it out.WE are in town for a work thing for hubs Sat night. I am sure we can figure out coffee or something!
Cari says
Yay! I’ll Instagram DM you my number
Deborah Brooks says
Great!
Jenn says
Love the new look of the blog! It’s really incredible.
NYC is going to be so much fun for you! You are totally going to earn that 200th ride and space in the studio!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks I am very excited about it!
Darlene S. Cardillo says
Love the new blog look. Mine needs a major overhaul.
I love running tours. I did one in nyc and one in Denver.
My word is
Determined
Deborah Brooks says
Determined is my word too and we will both get back there soon. Thanks on the blog update. Janice from our group helped me if you are interested she is great and very reasonable
Hannah says
I would love to know why we call them New Year’s resolutions instead of something more positive…resolutions sounds like a legalese term to me! I do goals/projects/habits instead, though I’m unlikely to start any of them Jan 1st. Love your blog makeover, it looks fresh and new but also familiar.
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks so much! Happy new year to you
Farrah says
I like the new layout! :] I haven’t really thought up a word for the year yet but I’m sure I will soon!
That’s awesome that you’re already getting to your 200th ride!!
Deborah Brooks says
It’s been a fun time with the Peloton!
Kristen says
I don’t know as it’s 100% a positive word but in the new year I’m going to do my best to KickA$$!
Deborah Brooks says
Love it! Happy new year to you Kristen
Denise @ runheartfit says
Great new layout. My word would be discipline, something I’m going to focus on with training and food choices in the months ahead. Happy New Year!
Deborah Brooks says
That’s a good one too! Happy new year
