August Ultimate Coffee Date

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

Even when it’s hotter than hades out there, I still enjoy my hot coffee every morning and afternoon. For some reason, iced coffee does not do it for me. How about you? Hot coffee all year around?

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

I was kind of jealous of everyone’s collagen and coffee posts. I finally found a vegetarian version from Vital Proteins called Marine Collagen. It does not have any taste at all and offers me a nice protein bump in my afternoon coffee. It is made from wild caught fish so pescatarian friendly not vegan. I am waiting for all of the anti aging benefits to kick in. Ha!

I am always amazed at the new varieties of fruits and vegetables that keep coming out. Today, I happened upon these “Apriplums” which are a hybrid combination of apricots and plums. Apparently, they are more apricot tasting and orange inside. They need a few days to ripen up before I can taste them and report back. I also read that there are some new apple varieties coming out this fall.

Got a new darker hair color update yesterday. My hair had gotten a little blonde again this summer. Apparently, the combination of sun, heat and sweat is not ideal for hair color retention. Go figure!

Your color looks great! I have to ask my colorist to put low lights in all the time! My hair gets so bleached out in the summer.

Still waiting for those anti-aging benefits of the collagen to kick in too. But I do have really strong nails!

Ha on the collagen! I do think my nails are strong as well. Now just waiting on those wrinkles 🙂

Love your hair! I just tried a marine collagen this week as well. Its actually a refreshing strawberry lemonade collagen drink that’s perfect for summer. Stay tuned for more on that. Thanks for the linkup!

That mix of marine collagen strawberry lemonade sounds interesting! Have a fantastic time this weekend

Apriplums, hmmmm. Those look and sound delicious 😉 I’ll have to look for those! I’m not a coffee gal (as you probably know), so the iced coffee really sounds nasty to me. At least the hot coffee smells good LOL

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/02/2019 at 7:34 am

Hot coffee does smell so good it kind of lures me in with it’s aroma 🙂

    Your hair looks great!!!
Let me know if you think the collagen works- I got some and I thought it did have a slight taste and got lazy using it. lol! If it works though I need to pull it back out!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/02/2019 at 1:49 pm

I don’t taste anything at all so that is a plus. My nails are really strong. Not seeing any anti aging yet 🙂

That fruit sounds interesting. I’ve been loving summer fruit but it’s frustrating when half the peaches are mealy. I can’t have picked wrong because half are fine!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/02/2019 at 1:53 pm

Yes the summer fruit has been amazing but the peaches are iffy sometimes. When they are good they are so good. I’ve been really into watermelon as well

  6. MCM Mama says

    08/02/2019 at 9:13 am

I have been using some collagen chews. I’m not sure they are as good as the powders, but I just don’t find myself using the powder. I have seen major improvements in my nails though, so I’ll keep on keeping on.

Your hair looks gorgeous! I need a haircut in a bad way, but luckily I’m heading home soon for my annual Wisconsin haircut LOL.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/02/2019 at 1:54 pm

I have a great hair guy in Mclean if you ever want to try him. He is great with color. I do think the collagen has strengthened my nails not so much on the anti aging front. I have high expectations though 🙂

I love the hair! Very pretty. Interested to hear your apriplum review, too!

Apriplums looks delicious. I haven’t yet seen that combination of fruits here.

Seems like there are new varieties all the time!

Your new hair color looks fantastic! Curious to hear what you think of the apriplums. Enjoy your weekend!

I will get back to you on the fruit! Thanks on the hair 🙂 have a great weekend

Your hair looks lovely! That’s one benefit to not coloring: it just is what it is.

Coffee, no, but hot tea, yes, all the time all year round (and drinking a cuppa as I read this).

I actually tried some marine collagen from a different company. Totally clumped, but works well in my smoothies!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/02/2019 at 2:05 pm

Thanks on the hair! I like this marine collagen so far. If I mix it into the hot coffee it does not clump at all. Not sure if it is making me look any younger yet 🙂

I’m loving the new hair cut and color!

Okay so I’ve never heard of Apriplums but now I feel like I must find them in my local supermarket next time I go there, lol

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/02/2019 at 2:08 pm

Thanks on the hair. I think I like it a little darker now. I will report back to you on the apriplums as soon as they ripen up to try them.

  12. Laurie says

    08/02/2019 at 4:08 pm

Hot coffee all year round for me too, although I enjoy iced too! I have tried apriplums before and loved them. I think they were called pluots where I got them, though. Are they the same thing?

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/02/2019 at 7:31 pm

Maybe they are the same fruit-hoping they are ripe enough by tomorrow to test them out

  13. Shannon @GirlsGotSole says

    08/02/2019 at 7:31 pm

I have seen all the collagen talk, but I’d need a vegan one, not sure that exists. I also haven’t really looked though. LOL!
    Your hair looks great! 🙂

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/02/2019 at 7:32 pm

I could not find a vegan one myself. I am ok with the fish one and apparently the fish oils are things I lack in my diet so I am giving them a try.

  14. Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says

    08/03/2019 at 11:00 am

I like your hair! I haven’t done anything interesting with mine this summer, though I do need to get it done before my trip to Europe next weekend!

My husband is the same way about his hot coffee, I don’t think I’d ever see him with anything iced – he’s a purist!

    Thanks for the linkup 🙂

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/03/2019 at 3:14 pm

oh a European trip sounds amazing!

  15. Kristen says

    08/04/2019 at 9:58 am

Strangest thing: when I lived in New England I drank iced coffee almost all year. Now that I live in Florida it’s hot coffee!
I think maybe it’s that our house was usually warm in the morning there? We only had a/c in the bedrooms and zoned heat. And here my husband insists on it being really cool for him to sleep so when I wake up I’m usually chilly.
And restaurants and stores here are soo heavily air conditioned that when I’m inside I want hot coffee too.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/04/2019 at 2:34 pm

Thank goodness for AC and for hot coffee! 🙂

  16. Debbie @ Deb Runs says

    08/05/2019 at 7:52 pm

In my funk I totally forgot about your coffee linkup. Sorry about that…

Other than drinking hot chocolate a couple of times during the winter, I don’t drink any hot drinks.

I like your hair color and length. It looks great!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/06/2019 at 5:59 am

thanks on the hair! No worries we will be here next month!

  17. Cari says

    08/13/2019 at 2:08 pm

Love your new hair color. My color keeps evolving. I miss the dark brown, but it ended up too dark so I lightened it and am now inching darker. I’m regretting cutting it for running reasons, but liking it shorter overall.
Iced coffee all the time. I drink hot at home on Sunday mornings and will grab a hot on the way home from Saturday long run if I pass 7-11, but otherwise always iced.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/13/2019 at 3:08 pm

My hair is always evolving too! That’s ok keep people guessing 🙂
