Thankful and a little embarrassing Runfessions

I Runfess…

I don’t always take my own advice especially when it comes to fitness gear that travels with you. We are escaping to Aruba tomorrow and I know that I won’t be able to go to any gyms or studios. I also won’t have my Peloton (yikes). I will have access to the Peloton strength training app and this is where the embarrassing part comes in. So, and please don’t judge me too harshly, I packed a set of 25 pound weights in my bag. I found an adjustable set that goes from 5 to 25 pounds and I have one in each bag. My husband thinks I am insane. I know I will be happier if I can work out so yep I am traveling with 50 pounds of weights in my bag. Am I insane or just smart?

I Runfess…

I have been trying to get into the London Landmark Half Marathon by lottery for a few years now. Apparently, it’s become quite popular! So, wouldn’t you know it, I just got in for May of 2020. Will that actually happen? Will it just get postponed or go virtual? Who knows? Will I feel comfortable traveling to London in May? I don’t know. I did pay to secure my spot just in case. What would you have done?

LOL to the weights in your suitcase! I would not have done that, but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do! I runfess that I am, as always, jealous of your trip to Aruba. Have so much fun!

Oh wow that’s nuts my friend!! Lolol! I’m sure they’re gonna wanna open your bags and see wth is in there too!
Wow on the London Half. Just figures, doesn’t it? However it works out, I hope it’s for the best. Thanks for linking, safe travels and have a wonderful trip!

Taking the weights is a genius move! I might have gone lighter LOL and found a way to double-up on holding them or done workouts utilizing the “more reps” option. But, you’re all set to stay action while on vacay 🙂 Wish I was joining you…

      11/27/2020 at 1:54 pm

      Now that would be fun!

LOL on the 25-pound weights. The only other option I can think of is if you’d had them shipped directly to where you’re staying and then just left them behind for someone else. Another option would have been to take a TRX. I pack so much stuff when I travel that I don’t think I’d have the extra poundage to spare in my bags. Whatever the case, I know you and know that you’ll put those weights to good use and be happy that you took them with you! Have a wonderful trip, my friend!

They were too expensive to ship out of the country. I will be glad to have them along for sure!

Weights in your bag – that is priceless 😉 LOL I love your dedication!

    Safe travels!!

      I know it’s a little crazy!

I definitely agree with you signing up for London! You are OK with long flights since you’re about to go to Aruba, and I assume if they end up canceling, postponing or going virtual because of COVID, you’d be given the option to defer (I hope) so you’d be in for 2022.

And, there’s a greater-than-zero chance that by May, there will be a vaccine and you and many people will have been vaccinated by then (optimistic, but possible). Seems like a good risk to take and you might have kicked yourself for not doing it! Can you imagine the FOMO seeing other people’s pictures, if you hadn’t signed up? lol. Something to look forward to!

      11/27/2020 at 1:57 pm

yes very true! I like the way you think!

  8. Kim G says

    11/27/2020 at 1:10 pm

LOL! I don’t know if I would pack weights but I don’t think you’re crazy at all, especially since you will be in Aruba for a while.

Hope you have an amazing time in Aruba!

      11/27/2020 at 1:57 pm

Thanks so much for the validation. I’ve already told my husband that you all think it’s totally acceptable!

I LOVE the idea of packing 50 lbs. of weights in your bags. Of course, it’s something I would do too! I hope you have a wonderful time in Aruba! Maybe by May the vaccine will allow us to travel again. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Thanks for the validation Laurie! 🙂

Definitely jelly of your vacation. Enjoy! I have definitely dragged a lot of fitness equipment on vacations, but I runfess never weights that heavy. You do what you gotta do though, right?

How exciting the London Landmark half sounds! I’ve never even heard of it. I hope you get to run it so we can hear all about it!

      Thanks I hope so too!

OMG on packing your weights! At least you will get your money’s worth from your baggage limit. And I guess you won’t need as many outfits and shoes for going out? You should get a Pelo-prize for that level of dedication!

That London Half looks awesome. That reminds me I new to renew my passport so I can travel in 2021 too!

    Have a fantastic time!

      11/29/2020 at 4:28 pm
