  • Happy Friday Fitness Friends!
    • I am starting to think about my upcoming trip to Hawaii with the family and how I am going to keep my fitness up while traveling. Sure I plan to run, hike & enjoy the fabulous scenery but also would like to keep up my resistance training.
    • Enter the super portable, Resistance Bands. I was recently sent an assortment of Sport2People bands to test out. Perfect timing (at 10 inch by 2 in) they are great to throw into a gym bag and take anywhere. I put them through a workout with some of my favorite band exercises. So what did I think of them?
    • Pro’s
    • -They come in a set of 5 in a great mesh carry bag.
    • -5 different resistance options that are color coded. Yellow is the lightest resistance followed by red, green, purple and black.
    • -The quality of the bands is great. They offer just enough stretch without fearing they will snap. (This actually happened to me at the gym a few years ago).
    • -They are so versatile. Exercise options are literally endless.
    • -You can use them to work most of the major muscle groups.
    • -The bands did not rub against or bother my skin at all.
    • -They stayed in place while I was exercising.
    • -They are very reasonable priced.a set of 5-affiliate link)
    • Cons:
    • The only con I can see is that if you do not know the usual colors associated with resistance bands, you may not know the order of strength they go in. For example, yellow is the lightest resistance followed by red. Green is considered medium followed by purple and black.
    • Other than that, I really don’t see anything I don’t like about the bands and I know I will be throwing them into my travel bag.
  • Some of my favorite Resistance Band exercises:
    • “Round The Clock Legs”– Without even removing the band, you can work your Abductor/hips, Adductor, Glute/hamstrings & quads:
    • Bow & Arrow-Channel your inner Katniss and work your triceps, chest & core:
    • Bicep curls-This can be done seated or kneeling:
    • These Sport2People bands are great for all levels of exercisers and well as for physical therapy. These exercises work well for me but may or may not be appropriate for everyone. Please decide if they are right for you. Disclaimer: I was provided a set of Sport2People resistance bands in exchange for a review, all opinions are my own.

Love that they are so easy for travel!
On vacation I take my running shoes, a couple of running outfits, hat, sunglasses, watch, and sunscreen.
I don’t have a lot of room with all my kids’ stuff, but I would easily tuck these away 🙂

They are great to travel with for sure!

This is a great design. Easily packable. My other bands I have are the ones that need handles and take up more space in a suitcase. Thanks for the review.

Mine too so I was glad to find these!

that is a great travel option! I usually just get my running shoes and sports bra packed 🙂 They use a style of resistance bands in Pure Barre class and boy you can feel it! Looks like a great way to get in some easy arm exercises, nice review!

These look great! Fitness bands are perfect for travel. We’re heading to Europe soon and my running shoes are definitely coming along as I’ll be marathon training. Should be a great way of sightseeing.

Couldn’t help but giggle at the sling shot as that is what my family would use them for! I have resistance bands with handles but have been debating getting ones like these.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/05/2015 at 8:27 am

I have some with handles too and use those for different things. Yes I was having fun with the sling shot 🙂

  8. Kathryn @ Dancing to Running says

    06/05/2015 at 8:28 am

I love how easy resistance bands are to throw in a bag so that you can always get a workout in, even when you’re traveling or if the weather is really bad and you can’t get outside.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/05/2015 at 5:10 pm

Yes exactly! I will be taking them along with me for sure

  9. Jamie says

This is such a smart idea… I usually try to us my hotels gym when I’m traveling, but it’s never that fabulous/somewhat inconvenient, so I love your idea of resistance band training. Easy to pack and I could totally do this in the hotel so I don’t have to leave my family! The only gear I take with my are my running shoes and running clothes. Mainly because if I’m going someplace new, I love exploring on foot. Hope you have a fabulous Friday!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/05/2015 at 5:11 pm

I love to explore new places on foot as well-great way to see the city. I agree with you that I am usually disappointed with hotel gyms too so I like to bring some stuff of my own.

  10. Chaitali says

    06/05/2015 at 8:47 am

Oh, I love that they come in a set with different strengths of resistance! I have one that came alone and it’s a little difficult to get it to work for everything. The trip to Hawaii sounds like it will be fabulous!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/05/2015 at 5:12 pm

Thanks I am really excited for our trip! yes I really like the 5 different resistance options in one pack.

They definitely can hit those glutes!

Ooo I have a couple resistance bands but they aren’t loops! My chocolate lab is weirdly scared of them and hides whenever I bring them out. I have no idea why!?

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/05/2015 at 5:26 pm

      ha too funny!

  14. Nicole @ Fitful Focus says

    06/05/2015 at 11:52 am

Resistance bands are so deceiving. You think they’re all light and easy – but they make a workout TOUGH! Such a great thing to have when you travel.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/05/2015 at 5:30 pm

Those little guys can be deceiving can’t they?!

  15. Ange @ Cowgirl Runs says

I love resistance bands, but don’t use them as much as I should!
I actually have a band at work to use in my office (with the door closed, of course!)

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/05/2015 at 5:31 pm

    • Deborah Brooks says

      They are really versatile!

  17. Sharon says

    06/05/2015 at 12:15 pm

I have never had resisitance bands like these (round like a rubber band). I have had a stretchy strap and the one like an infinity shape with handles on both ends… neither were versatile. I would give these a try a though. I like your suggested workouts for them!

    06/08/2015 at 9:08 pm

I love using resistance bands to strengthen, and these look perfect for travel! Love that you’ll be spending some time in Hawaii. I went there when I was 12 with family 🙂
