Well, the month of March flew by again and it’s time for a few Runfessions. March is always a busy month around here with travel, birthdays, and races and this year is no different. I’ve got a few Runfessions to share. Thanks to Marcia for hosting.
I Runfess…
I jumped at the chance to score an entry into the March 2023 NYC Half. After trying to get in the last few years to no avail, I opted for the virtual race this year. It just so happened that the window to complete the virtual half fell right at the same weekend as my Asheville Half Marathon. Score! It was kind of a no brainer. My miles were automatically recorded via Strava and I am all set. So, I will be running through the streets of NYC next March.
I Runfess…
The Cherry Blossoms are in full bloom right now and I have not yet seen them in person. I had originally planned on running down there yesterday but it was raining pretty hard. I am hoping to see them next Tuesday. Oh, and there is the Cherry Blossom 10 miler next weekend. Boy that came fast! I hope there are still some blossoms left by then. Looking forward to seeing Cari and Coco next weekend.
I Runfess…
I am heading to Chicago today for a super short visit to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. How is it possible that I have a 25 year old?! We are also meeting up with her boyfriend’s parents for the first time. There is also a visit to the aquarium on the schedule. I don’t think I have time to meet up with any of my Chicago friends this time but I hope to be back soon. So please don’t take it personally! That’s all I’ve got to Runfess this March 2022.
Hope to see you next week for The Ultimate Coffee Date linkup!

Enjoy your birthday visit.
Very excited to join you next March in NYC.
No cherry blossoms here yet. Hope they stay around until I get to NYC on April 9.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, me too for next year!
Marcia says
Happy Birthday to your daughter! Have fun on our fair city. I wish the weather would be nicer for you but oh well. That’s awesome you snagged a spot for NYC. Have so much fun running CB10 next week! I can’t imagine anything could be DONE blooming when nothing has even started here!
Deborah Brooks says
Those cherry blossoms are so finicky and really only bloom for a few weeks. Oftentimes, they are gone by race day!
Michelle says
That’s great that you could “double dip” and score an entry into NYC! That’s definitely a race I’d like to run.
Have fun with your daughter 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
yes it was a win win all around! Thanks I am looking forward to a fun weekend
Kimberly Hatting says
I’m jealous of your Chicago weekend, your upcoming Cherry Blossom AND your future NYC 13.1. Lots of fun on deck 🙂 Best wishes for a fun weekend & Happy Birthday to the daughter!!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks! We definitely need to get another race on the schedule together!
Cari says
This early blossom peak is nuts. But I really don’t mind the early spring either.
Laughing my ass off at “I don’t think I have time to meet up with any of my Chicago friends this time but I hope to be back soon. So please don’t take it personally!” Because while I”m seeing some of you (Yay! Can’t wait) I’m having the exact same problem with DC. I love knowing so many people in great destination cities but with covid especially, so hard to cram all the people.
Happy birthday to your daughter! Good luck meeting her boyfriend’s parents.
Deborah Brooks says
I know it is fun to know people everywhere! So many running friends so little time 🙂 It often happens that the blooms are gone by race day but you never know
Coco says
Are you doing NYC in person or virtually next year?
Enjoy Chicago!
Looking forward to seeing you soon.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, in person next year! I tried to get in through the lottery for years to no avail
Jenny says
Ooh! Have fun in Chicago! Meeting the boyfriend’s parents… i hope you like them. Happy birthday to your daughter.
That is awesome about NYC- perfect timing.
Hopefully you’ll see some cherry blossoms at the Cherry Blossom 10 miler!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks Jenny excited for a fun weekend here
Chocolaterunsjudy says
How great that the virtual race aligned with your actual race. Great synchronicity!
Enjoy your time with your girl!
Too bad the cherry blossoms are unlikely to be at full bloom during the race. 🙁
Deborah Brooks says
yes, I could not pass it up!
Wendy says
Wow, that is awesome that you were able to count Asheville for your virtual half!!! Enjoy your weekend in Chicago and bundle up! Hopefully we can meet up next time you’re here.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, it was a bonus! So bummed I don’t have time to meet up this time quick trip!
