Wow first Saturday of the month again?! Time to join up with Jill, Nikki & Lynda for the Ultimate Coffee Date. These ladies really know how to throw a party so grab a chair, sit down and join us for a cup of coffee or tea.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you...I’m surprised by how much I’ve come to really like coffee. I used to drink it once in a while just to be social but now I NEED it to stay sane in the morning.

What if?? A girl likes to dream

If we were having coffee I’d tell you…I’m still reveling in our post Ragnar bliss and I am super excited because our team just won a free entry into The Cape Cod Ragnar next May!! Those babies are addictive so “Moms Do It All Night Long” will be back for part 2.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you…I am so looking forward to seeing “Gone Girl” this weekend. I read the book way back when and loved it. I hope the movie lives up to the book. I like Ben Affleck but didn’t really picture him in this role.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you…I just started coaching the new season of Girls on The Run this week. This season I am bringing in the middle school program-Girls on Track for the 6th grade girls. They really seem to like being treated as teens and having a more mature curriculum. Looking forward to a fun season with them.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you…I will be running the Army 10 Miler next weekend for the 2nd time. This will be my longest run since I came back from my stress fracture. I am feeling good and know I can do the distance. I have to keep reminding myself that I can’t expect to do as well as I did last year when I had a lot of longer training runs under my belt. I am honestly so happy to be back where I am. This race is so inspiring for a number of reasons. As you come into the last mile, The Pentagon in front of you, you see the huge American Flag and immediately feel a sense of patriotism. Looking around you see men and women in uniform running with heavy backpacks & American Flags. You see wounded warriors refusing to give up and that always gives me that little push at the end.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you…I am really obsessed with Honey Crisp apples. They are so good and sweet. Add a little PB and I’m in heaven. You know what they say, “An apple a day…”.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you…As part of my duties as the DC “Ambassador of Rock” I will be throwing their Fall kick off party on October 23. If you live in the DC area, you don’t want to miss this one it’s going to “ROCK”.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

I have a love/hate relationship with Army 10 miler, so I managed to keep myself from signing up this year LOL. I’m hoping to get involved with GOTR again once my kids are a bit older. It’s such a great program!

It will be my 2nd time doing Army-it is really crowded but I love the atmosphere. I couldn’t coach GOTR until my kids were older but I love it so much. Hope you get to do it again sometime.

I know it’s exciting to have another Ragnar on our schedule. It’s addictive. I hope you do it again next year in DC and have a better time. Doing it with your own peeps makes all the difference.

Apple + PB = one of the greatest snacks on the planet! I love Honeycrisp, and I also enjoy a good Gala or Empire apple, too. Anything but red delicious; those don’t deserve to be called apples 🙂

Best of luck on the Army 10-miler! I’ve heard great things about that race.

      10/04/2014 at 10:35 pm

Ha I agree on the red delicious. Remember when we were little and they didn’t have all of these types of apples around all year? I am excited for Army should be lots of fun.

ok I saw it-really good! Ben Affleck was better than I thought he would be. All of the acting was superb. You should go see it! I love our team name too 🙂

Deborah, thanks for the coffee today. How cool about the Ragnar team. Why on earth I can’t get connected with a team out here is beyond me. I am so bummed, as I want to Ragnar so badly. I have not see the movie Gone Girl, but hear the reviews are great. My hubby just told me about the Honey Crisp apple the other day, I don’t think I have ever brought one home, {we eat Fuji} but I will look for one next time I am out. Only I am not sure if they are found in certain areas or not.
    Have a great weekend 🙂

Congrats on Ragnar! We didn’t get to see Gone Girl this weekend – maybe next weekend?! I am not feeling ready for the ATM at all — last weekend I did the Reston 10 miler, so last week I was recovering from that!
