October Runfessions

I Runfess-

As much as I hated running all summer and even thought about throwing in the towel, I am so glad I stuck it out. So far, fall temps have been a game changer for me. I have found my running mojo again and I am quickly finding my endurance. I am actually looking forward to my 2 November 10K’s instead of dreading them.

I Runfess-

I am really excited for all of my friends near and far that are running the Marine Corps Marathon this weekend. We have a large group of runners from our MRTT group and it’s been fun to watch them train for it. I am also excited to have a chance to hang out with Kim and Rachel before they tackle the race. We have big group of bloggers heading out to dinner tonight in DC. I almost have FOMO that I am not running it. Ha almost. In 2017 I did the 10K but it is too much of a hassle to get down there for the shorter race.

I Runfess-

It’s only mid October and I am already feeling like my calendar is quickly filling up for November and December. I get a little stressed to have my schedule so full every weekend. Next weekend, starts my month long birthday celebration with a weekend yoga and running retreat with my crew. Stay tuned for details to come.

Whew I guess I had more to Runfess that I thought! Thanks to Marcia for hosting the October Runfessions. What do you  have to Runfess. See you next Friday for the November Coffee Date Linkup.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

      Yes definitely

I’m so glad to hear that your endurance is returning as well! Hooray for cooler temps. Have so much fun this weekend! I thought I’d have FOMO not running Chicago, but nope, I was content to spectate.

It will be fun to see everyone again

It’s amazing how a change in weather can totally change your running mojo. I made it through running this summer but I certainly didn’t enjoy it, especially those super humid days.

I’m so jealous that you’ll get to hang out with Kim and Rachel this weekend – miss all of you ladies!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/25/2019 at 7:38 am

You are stronger than I am with all that summer heat! We sure will miss you this weekend

  4. Marcia says

MCM is one of my favorite marathons but I can totally understand how much of a hassle logistics are for a short race. Have fun with the blogger festivities though. Hooray for the return of running mojo!

With the race and the world series game here this weekend it’s going to be a zoo!

  5. Lisa @ Mile by Mile says

    10/25/2019 at 8:42 am

MCM sounds like such a fun race but it logistically seems so complicated even though its not that far! I am also loving the cooler weather. Those summer runs really pay off this time of year!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/25/2019 at 9:02 am

The city will be crazy tonight with MCM and the world series!

That’s great news that you’ve been enjoying the Fall running! It’s amazing what a difference the weather makes :). My November’s been filling up quickly too and I agree that it kind of makes me stressed to see that.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/25/2019 at 1:13 pm

The weather around here sure does make a huge difference doesn’t it!?

  7. Kimberly Hatting says

    10/25/2019 at 9:13 am

Looking forward to seeing you, too! I didn’t know you’d run the 10K. So, you celebrate the entire month of November…sounds like a great plan 🙂

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/25/2019 at 1:18 pm

      I think it does too!

I runfess that I’ve been struggling with runs lately. It’s almost like I have a good week of workouts than a crappy week. Just sticking it out since it’s likely a phase. Have fun at dinner tonight!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/25/2019 at 1:20 pm

I think we all have phases like that with running.when it’s good it’s good, when it’s not, it’s very bad

  9. Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says

    10/25/2019 at 11:34 am

Glad to hear you’ve got your running mojo! The cooler weather has been wonderful for it!

I’m so envious you’ll be meeting up with Kim and Rachel this weekend! I still need to meet all of you, one day I hope! 🙂

November/December always seems to move by so fast. I’m definitely nervous about it with a little one on the way plus all the holidays. I need time to slow down lol!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/25/2019 at 1:23 pm

I know we really do have to meet one one of these days!

Everyone has such good things to say about MCM. I sometimes think maybe if I did a full, that should be it. But then there’s the whole time limits thing. But who knows? Maybe someday.

This Fall has mostly been lovely — definitely my favorite time of year to race! Sad I probably can’t do a turkey trot this year, as most likely I’ll be heading downstate to my parents, but then again, last year I sat it out cause it was too cold!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/25/2019 at 1:29 pm

maybe you will find a turkey trot the weekend before Thanksgiving that will fit into your schedule. Would be a great stress reliever for you

  11. Laurie says

    10/25/2019 at 2:10 pm

You and my hubby both wilt in the heat of the summer. He comes alive again when the cooler fall temperatures hit too. We are doing MCM this weekend; it would be great to see you there, but it looks like a pretty wet weekend on tap!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/26/2019 at 5:25 pm

Have a fantastic race day tomorrow! I have a conflict so wont’ be out there spectating the race. Can’t wait to read everyone’s recaps

  12. Cari says

    10/25/2019 at 3:16 pm

It’s funny how distance plays a role in whether the race is worth it. That’s the Queens 10K for me — it’s out by one of the airports and such a pain to get to for “only” 10K
I feel you on the fall rewards. Running has been magic.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/26/2019 at 5:26 pm

Yes I always have to weigh whether it’s worth it to schlep out to a race with lots of logistics

  13. Michelle @ Running with Attitude says

    10/25/2019 at 4:33 pm

Great to hear you’re enjoying your running again! Fall weather is just the best!

Enjoy the meet-up and spectating this weekend!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/26/2019 at 5:27 pm

It was so much fun to get together with everyone last night

  14. Liz Dexter says

    10/26/2019 at 3:22 am

Have fun meeting up with everyone and best of luck to all you know who are running the marathon. Exciting!!

I runfess that my schedule is full up of volunteering and officiating and I’m kind of wishing I had some weekends to myself! I probably do if I look carefully …

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/26/2019 at 5:30 pm

Those weekends sure can book up quickly this time of the year

  15. meranda@Fairytalesandfitness says

    10/26/2019 at 10:42 am

Have fun this weekend with all the MCM festivities!
Yes, things start to move very fast and ( get sort of stressful) after Halloween as we move into the other Holidays! – Take care – M

      They sure seem to!
