So much happens in a year of running doesn’t it? I always find it so much fun to go back and take a look at my year of running and remind myself of all that I have accomplished and all of the memories associated with each race. There is always something to take away from each race and treasure.

My Year of Running 2018

For The Love 10K

Every year I sign up for this race and every single year it turns out to be the most freezing day. This year was no exception! It might be those Valentine’s Day cookies at the finish that keep me coming back.

Weekly Wrap Hello FebruaryCherry Blossom 10 miler

This year I was lucky enough to be one the race ambassadors for one of my favorite DC races. I met so many great people who I now consider friends. Race day was chillier than usual this year but made for spectacular views of the Cherry Blossom trees. They are usually long gone by race day. Next year, some of my favorite blogger friends will be joining me here in DC to run the race with my MRTT friends. Should be nothing short of epic!

Girls on The Run 5K

My 9th (May) and 10th (December) time running with my GOTR team. Warms my heart and my soul every time. Looking forward to the next season in September.

Westfield’s Sprint Tri

One of 2 sprint triathlons I did this summer. I am pretty sure this was the run where I pulled something in my calf/achilles that went on to nag me the entire summer and early fall.

Rock n Roll chicago Weekend

Really the highpoint of my summer! Meeting my on line running friends in person was pretty amazing. They were just as incredible in person. Cannot wait for our next meet up.

Running in Alaska

Nothing short of epic views and nice clean air.

Ragnar Napa Valley

Ragnar relays are always epic and having the chance to run through California Wine Country is special. The post race wine tasting not too bad either.

Philadelphia half marathon

Intervals for win! Completely undertrained for this one but had a blast running in Philly.

Last race of the year! You cannot help but smile and have fun dressed up in holiday attire.

Those are snapshots from the races I did this year however the most memorable and meaningful runs are the ones I do day in and day out with my MRTT crew. These ladies have shown me over and over again what it means to have a group of friends you can always count on. The best friends-the ones you consider family. Thanks for checking out my Year in Running 2018.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

What a great year of running you had, even if you were plagued with your calf injury (calf, right?) for much of the summer. Here’s to a fabulous 2019!

    • Deborah Brooks says
