Every month I think that I will not have anything exciting to spill for the Runfessions post. Every month, I then cannot stop spilling all of my Runfessions. Ha! Today I am sharing a few of the things that are on my mind and sharing my review of the Brooks Glycerin 17’s. Thanks to Marcia for hosting.

March Runfessions and Brooks Glycerin Review

I Runfess…Unfortunately, I am still having some ankle soreness post run. Of course, it is not great timing. Injuries never are. With the Cherry Blossom 10 miler just 10 days away, I know it’s going to be a challenging run. However, I am going to take a bit of my own advice about coming back from injuries and adjust my expectations and goals. I am going to focus on the other things going on that weekend.

I Runfess…I am so excited to have Kim (Running on the Fly) and Linda (Accidental Marathoner) coming into town to stay with me for a Runcation Girls Weekend. I have lots of fun activities planned all weekend. Should be a blast. Really looking forward to seeing them both.

Runfessions and Brooks Glycerin

I Runfess…I am embarrassed to say that I have amassed quite the running shoe collection. #RunnerProblems for sure. Or, as my husband likes to say, “out of control”. Hey, we all have our vices! I donate the older pairs a few times a year but they just seem to pile up. Speaking of shoes…

Brooks Glycerin

Brooks Glycerin 17 shoe Review

I received a pair of  Brooks Glycerin 17’s in conjunction with my role as an ambassador with BibRave. All thoughts are my own, Check out all the race reviews and find more info on BibRave here.

From the moment I slipped my feet into my new Brooks Glycerin 17’s, I felt like they were hugged by the “Ortholite sock liner”. It’s a gentle welcoming hug that cradles your foot. The cushioning is like walking on clouds! I had been running in the previous version of the Glycerin and the cushioning was the selling point. As someone who is prone to foot and ankle issues, I enjoy a softer landing.

The Brooks Glycerin 17’s are a neutral shoe available in 5 color choices. Important for me because I often like to have 2 pairs to switch between in differing colors. Designed for road running they weigh in at 9.2 ounces with a 10 mm drop. (source) These are slightly lighter than the previous model with the same drop. My steps feel smooth and supported. I know I will also enjoy the mesh breathability once the temps start to warm up. So far, these are a keeper. I plan to #RunHappy with them for many miles and smiles.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

I’m so sorry to hear you’re having pain post runs but taking precautions now and you’ll make it through the 10 miles.

Like you, I have so many running shoes. I always keep one back up pair in case of bad weather or if my current shoes are soaking wet after a run but try to donate a pair whenever I get a new one.

They really do pile up and it gets to a crazy point of having so many shoes!

Brooks shoes are awesome!!!! I need major support & stability, though, so I have to go with the Adrenalines & Ravennas. Totally love all things Brooks (and not just shoes LOL). I am beyond excited for next weekend, too!!!

There are plenty of worse problems than a massive running shoe collection! 🙂 Did I say massive? I meant ummm…substantial. Hope your ankle behaves for you at the Cherry Blossom. Have fun with your girls’ weekend!

I would have more shoes if Newtons weren’t so hard to find grumble grumble.

I’m sure you guys will have a blast & that will make the race even more special.

I tried glycerine once but they felt clunky to me — that was quite a few models ago though.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      03/29/2019 at 7:09 pm

I have never tried newtown’s but I know people like them as well. Yes I am excited to have the ladies visit

You all are going to have such a fun race weekend – I’m so sorry I couldn’t make it work! Hope your ankle gets better.

Nice review – I have been eyeing the Glycerin. I’m thinking the extra cushioning could be a welcome addition once I start marathon training later this year.

Thanks for the review! The Brooks Levitate was a shoe I was fitted for – it was my first time in a neutral shoe. I am thinking of trying them out during tri season!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      04/02/2019 at 6:57 pm

I recently switched to a neutral shoe as well so far I like it. Now I just need to get rid of my ankle soreness

They sound like good shoes! I tried some Brooks Adrenalin on when I was buying my MORE Sauconys at the weekend, but there was a bit less drop than the Sauconys. I would try them though, and definitely these, if we can get them here.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      04/03/2019 at 8:07 am

Ah the quest for the perfect shoe!
