June Runfessions Too Soon to complain about summer?

It’s the last Friday of the month and that means it’s time to join in on the June Runfessions with Marcia. A post to vent about all things running so let’s get right to it. Is it too soon complain about summer heat?

June Runfessions

I Runfess summer running is just not my thing. We have had 10 days over 90 degrees so far with no end in sight. I have been attempting to get out earlier (8 am) but it’s still such a struggle. So, too soon to start complaining about summer? On the bright side, we had a fun “iced tea crawl” yesterday that made running a lot more bearable. Maybe that is just how I will make it through summer. Full details on how to arrange one of these fun events coming soon.

June Runfessios about summer running

I Runfess I may have bought these super cute pink Brooks running shoes just for the color. I mean, if I am going to run outside all summer I might as well have super cute shoes. Agree?

I Runfess that on a whim I entered the lottery for the London Landmark Half Marathon in March. I had already imagined myself trotting over across the pond to run through London when I found out I was not selected. Total bummer! There is a second chance drawing next week. Fingers crossed! At least they are very polite about it.

I have to complain about summer. Too hard to run with such weather: the only chance is getting out in early morning not later than 06.30 a.m.
Beautiful shoes, Brooks are my favorite.
Good luck on the second ballot.
A good alternative for London is the Roma-Ostia half marathon on March. 8, 2020

Thanks I will check out that race! I am not a 6:30 am runner but I am trying to go earlier

Ice tea crawl sounds fun–but did you get all hopped up on caffeine? I agree with you–summer running is HARD! We just started the heat this week and I’m already longing for those cool morning runs of a week ago. It looks like the heat is here to stay so I guess I have to figure it out.

I guess we are going to have to figure it out together!

Summer running is hard. There’s no way around it. I feel like it just makes us stronger mentally though. A second chance ballet is a great idea! I’ve never heard of races having those but more should. Sometimes people will enter a lottery and end up not wanting to run or scheduling changes and they can’t. A second round would let others who can run it have the chance too.

Yes exactly fingers crossed over here!

I think we saw our very first 90 of the year here yesterday, so I won’t dare complain about heat after the record cold and rain we had this spring. Very cute shoes! Bummer about London. Their denial for the marathon lottery starts with the word “Commiserations”. Gotta love the British! Fingers crossed you get in through the second chance.

Yes they sure are polite about telling you that you are not running it 🙂 Fingers crossed for next week but I hear it’s a hard one to get into

I like the idea of an iced tea crawl! We’re still pretty up and down on the weather here, but the forecast has a “heat wave” coming this way – oh joy!

    Those Brooks are super cute!

I can’t believe it’s this hot already! It’s going to be a long summer

We’re in the midst of a heatwave, but cooler summers are our rewards for suffering through winter. Sometimes, anyway.

Those Brooks are super cute and I REALLY need new running shoes.

8 am when the weather is that hard is just too late. Of course I also know how hard it is to get out there early!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/28/2019 at 1:42 pm

I am so not an early bird runner. I may have to suck it up and get out earlier next week

Those Brooks shoes are totally awesome! They never seem to have the fancy promo colors for the Adrenalines. That iced tea crawl sounds so enticing…but I’d be having to use the potty at every place we stopped LOL

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/28/2019 at 1:43 pm

The shoes are super cute! I thought I would have to pee from all iced tea but I guess I sweat it out!

  8. Cari says

Yes. Over summer. To the extent I’ve chosen treadmill twice this week and am hibernating in the office’s AC instead of being outside.
I’d be team lemonade or iced tea crawl

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/28/2019 at 6:58 pm

ha ha for hiding in the AC I get it! The iced tea run is fantastic will be sharing more details later

An ice tea crawl is so unique and sounds like a blast! My rejection letters from the London marathon have always been pleasant, so I’m not surprised the half marathon is the same way.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/28/2019 at 6:59 pm

Yes they very nicely tell you that you will not be joining them in London 🙂

  10. Coco says

    06/28/2019 at 6:45 pm

Hah, and here I am thinking 8 am is so late for a run! 😉 The iced tea run sounds like a great idea and a lot of fun. Did you consider the Richmond Half in November?

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/28/2019 at 7:03 pm

Somehow, Richmond does not seem like a good alternative for London 🙂
