June Runfessions and Confessions I’ve got a few!

This month was a doozy to say the least. There were a lot of ups (traveling to Napa and running the 5K with my husband) and some serious stressors (doctor appointments). Anyway, I am keeping it positive here and sharing a few more fun Runfessions and Confessions that I think you will appreciate. Thanks to Marcia for hosting.

June 2023 Runfessions

June Runfessions and Confessions

I confess and Runfess…

I was torn between 2 dresses for the wedding I attended in Berkeley a few weeks ago. It was a Sunday afternoon, in California and the attire said “cocktail”. Alas, I could not decide between my new orange dress or a dressier blue dress that I love. I went back and forth and ultimately chose the more casual orange dress. Well, I am so glad that I did because the mother of the groom (our friends) wore the exact blue dress in a longer version by the exact same designer. With only about 100 people in attendance, it would have been very noticeable and very embarrassing if I had shown up in the same dress. Crisis averted! Whew!

I runfess and confess…

I am getting increasingly frustrated with Instagram. I’ve been pouring all my efforts into growing my following the past few years. Reluctantly, got on the reels train last year. While itt was nice to get paid from IG for doing them, they did not seem to help with any growth.

The last few months, even reels aren’t doing well. No one seems to know what works! I confess, I even accepted the invite to become verified and get the elusive blue check. Yes, you have to pay for it. I decided to do it for 3 months and then re-evaluate. Almost one month in and it’s doing absolutely nothing for me. Some days I wonder if it’s worth it.

That’s about all I have to confess and runfess this month! Hope to see you next week for the July Ultimate Coffee Date.

That blue dress is stunning! No wonder you both love it. 🙂

Technically I am still on IG but I don’t pay any mind to it at all. Blogging, YouTube, and Facebook is enough for me! I’m sorry that your efforts aren’t being rewarded.

While it is annoying, it is obviously not my biggest problem right now 🙂

I echo your thoughts on IG. I do still post the occasional reel, but it is noticeable how few views I get compared to my still posts. I don’t understand their business model at all.

I love both dresses but whew! to the major faux pas that you avoided. While it wouldn’t have been your fault, I can only imagine how awkward that would have been!

I would have been so mortified! IG is a pain in the butt for sure

Oh that’s crazy about the dress! They’re both stunning! I feel you on IG. Clearly something is up and they don’t show stuff to anyone anymore. I stopped trying awhile ago. So not worth the effort. I’m beyond tired of seeing “suggested for you” pics from accounts I don’t follow.

It was funny about the dress. Yes, I feel so frustrated that I have poured so much time and effort into IG for nothing. I do love lots of the connections I’ve found though

You look fabulous in both dresses.

I love IG but I don’t do reels. Too much effort especially since I don’t have that many followers. I love yours.

Thanks it is a lot of work to keep up the content and I was really into for a while. Now, I am getting tired of it. I do love to do travel posts so look out for those coming soon

I love both of those dresses on you – good thing you opted for the orange! Can you imagine if you hadn’t?!

I’ve given up trying to figure out IG – I’m mostly frustrated because I’m not seeing the accounts I want to follow. Too many “suggested for you” in my feed.

I would have been so embarrassed! IG is really so annoying

OH, that is a funny dress story! That blue dress is distinctive- it would have been obvious you were wearing the same dress. Luckily the orange one looks great on you and seems perfect for the occasion.
I gave up on instagram a long time ago. I feel kind of out of it, but it’s all I can do to keep the blog going! When I hear you guys talking about your frustrations, I don’t feel as bad about my non-instagram stance.

It was going so well for a while and now it is just so frustrating!

Whoa! Major fashion crisis averted on that one! I’ve given up on guessing the reels game on Insta. I haven’t done “bonus” reels (other than my Tuesday ones) in several months. A lot of work goes into them, and I just don’t have any extra free time these days.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/30/2023 at 2:08 pm

they do take a bunch of time and I am not seeing any return on investment at this point

I love both dresses. Glad you didn’t end up up-staging the mother of the groom. 😉

Instagram is so annoying as a user. Ever other post is an ad. And if the sound is on it’s like flipping channels across annoying ads. I lose patience with it.

I hope you get good news about your health soon! Let me know if you want to go to CPY or on a bike ride.

Thanks I would like that. We will be away most of July and then maybe I need to dust off my bike
