This week’s weather was literally all over the place! Blizzards one day and spring like temps the next. What’s a mother runner to do? Tighten up that pony tail and get it done. Here we snow again! Linking up with Wendy and Holly for the Weekly Wrap.
Here We Snow Again!
Sunday-rest day
Took a real rest day! Stocked up and did some meal planning. I love to have my breakfasts prepped in advance especially on a Monday morning. I made a delish kale and mushroom frittata. Yes that is a huge bag of kale!
Monday- 20 min Peloton bike x 2 + 60 strength training + 2 mile walk
I like to hit it hard on Mondays especially after a rest day. My favorite Peloton instructor (Denis) did 2 back to back 20 min classes so I jumped right into those. 60 minutes of strength training with my trainer mostly arms. I looked at the weather for week and decided I need to get my walk out of the way. I distracted myself with a book on tape (The American Marriage) and powered through the windy walk.
Tuesday- 4 ish miles
It was quite chilly out there but we knew a snow storm was headed our way and had to get it done.
Wednesday- 90 min strength training/kick boxing and short snow shoe walk
We woke up a blizzard with a fast moving 5 or so inches of snow. I don’t have too many chances to use my snow shoes around here so I try to take advantage every chance I can.
Thursday- 6.5 mile run
Our snow was headed out just as quickly as it came in. We woke up to sunny skies and warm temps. By warm I mean 40 and it felt just glorious! I wanted to get my longer run in because I was heading out of town Friday. I am happy to report that I am feeling much better about my running this week. Baby steps!
Friday- travel day
Headed out to Indy to visit my kids in Bloomington. Missed my babies so much!
Saturday- hot yoga and wine tasting
Headed to a mother daughter hot yoga class which felt amazing. My daughter’s sorority was having their moms weekend and we headed over to a wine tasting in the afternoon. Lots of fun!

We have rain today. At least no snow…yet.
A nice week of activity for you.
So great to connect with your daughter.
My week was a bummer but I am hoping that things will get better.
Deborah Brooks says
I am hoping you have a better week too!
Kim G says
Great job on your workouts this week! There are still a lot of Peloton spinning instructors I need to try (including Denis).
So glad that you were able to visit your children this weekend! Wishing you safe travels back home 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
We had a great weekend just trying to get back home tonight with some weather challenges
Kimberly Hatting says
What a fun time with the daughter! Our oldest had a mom’s weekend (a few times that actually worked for me LOL) with her sorority, and they were fun! The son told me they are planning a mom’s weekend for his frat this spring, so I’m looking forward to that as well (hoping it’s not April 7th). Safe travels back to VA!!
Deborah Brooks says
It was a fun weekend! Hoping I get home late tonight
Marcia says
Awwww I’m so happy to hear you went to a mother/daughter event at school. I’m already looking for reasons to visit Maddie at school and she hasn’t even left yet. We’ve got such high winds here today it is ridiculous. I just need to fly outta here before the next blast of arctic air arrives.
Deborah Brooks says
The mom weekends are lots of fun and something to look forward to It appears the same winds are here first flight canceled hopefully getting home late tonight
Wendy says
How fun that you got to visit your kids! I’m planning on driving up to Madison next weekend to have lunch with my youngest. Thankfully it’s a short 2 hour drive. I miss him and he’s not one to talk on the phone. Somehow, texting doesn’t do it for me.
Have a great week! I hope the snow is all gone.
Deborah Brooks says
My son is not as chit chatting on the phone either. I also got to see him this weekend
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Blue skies! What IS that? Seriously, it’s just so darn gray here.
Sounds like you had a great weekend with your daughter (and a good week of workouts leading up to it) — safe travels home! We were delayed going & coming on our trip, but in the end, we got there.
Deborah Brooks says
I had a great weekend and actually got to see both of my kids thanks
Becca | Rabbit Food Runner says
What a fun mom-daughter day! I love hanging out with my mom for those activities, and this reminds me I should plan one soon. Glad you got to whip out your snowshoes, sounds like you made the best of it.
Deborah Brooks says
It was a pretty good week after all thanks
Coco says
How great to have a mother-daughter weekend. Hot yoga and wine sound like perfect activities. Our weather was nuts last week – although I feel like I keep saying that. Safe travels home!
Deborah Brooks says
It was a great weekend and. Got to see both of my kids so nothing beats that. Yes our weather has been nuts!
Jessie says
What a fun event with your daughter! I love that.
40 degrees..that must have felt so amazing! Glad you could switch things around and do your longer run then!

Love the shopping pic — very Supermarket Sweep! Good luck with the meal planning. I had some groceries delivered Tuesday morning but short of the ridiculous dinosaur nuggets they're more beverage than food
Deborah Brooks says
I am always happier when I do meal prep. Unfortunately I’m still traveling tonight so no food in the house
Cari says
Safe travels!
I find meal prep easier in winter when I get on a crock pot kick. I’m doing a bit of MealPal and Ritual this month so haven’t needed to cook much. I find that makes for better snack habits too. Easier to reach for healthy snacks
Deborah Brooks says
Meal prep is easier in the winter time with the slow cooker definitely

Thank you for sharing the discount code — I’m in!

Fabulous see you there virtually!

I had a great time with the kids. A little bit of an adventure getting home last night but all good now
Renée says
seems like you had a really good week Deborah! and you are feeling better about running so that’s like the BEST news! I can imagine you had a great time with your daughter at that wine tasting! you two are adorable!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks super fun weekend with my kids. Running is up and down for sure but I am trying to stay positive
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
I’m sure you had so much fun visiting your kids!
I used to love taking my Nordic skis out whenever we got enough snow, but then we had several winters of so little snow that I got rid of them…
Deborah Brooks says
Yes this season has been wacky!
