Thanks for joining Coco and me for the December Ultimate Coffee Date today. I’ve had such a crazy week that I almost forgot all about the coffee date until last night! I have lots to tell you so grab your mugs and let’s catch up.
December Ultimate Coffee Date and Weekly Wrap
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
Tomorrow is our end of the season 5K for Girls on The Run. This season just flew by and I can’t wait to see their smiling faces as they run over the finish line tomorrow. So 3 hours after the 5K, I am hosting our annual MRTT Holiday Party brunch at my house. Am I totally insane?! I am sure it will all work out but seriously, what was I thinking?
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
As one of the Cherry Blossom Ten Miler ambassadors, I had the opportunity to attend the race kick off party a few days ago. It was fun to have the chance to vote on the official race t shirt designs and meet up with the other ambassadors. The Cherry Blossom lottery just opened for the April 8th race. Wouldn’t it be fun if a bunch of Ultimate Coffee Date participants entered the lottery and came to DC to run it with Coco and me? Come on you know you want to? Check it out here.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
A few weeks ago when I was feeling like a rockstar runner, I signed up for a 15K next weekend. Now it’s quickly approaching and I am thinking I am woefully undertrained for that distance. I ran 8 miles and 7 miles a few weeks ago but since then have only done 6 ish. I have a super cute outfit so I kind of have to do it right?
Adding in a quick Weekly Wrap here:
Monday- 30 min elliptical + 60 min strength training
Tuesday- 3 mile run and coaching girls on the run
Wednesday- 30 min elliptical + 90 min kickboxing and strength training
Thursday- 6 mile run and Girls on The Run Coaching
Friday- Spin class
Saturday- rest day
Sunday- Girls on The Run 5K
Coco says
Good luck with GOTR! I am looking forward to seeing you again. I’m only doing 8 mile long runs for that 15K – that should be enough, right???
Deborah Brooks says
I hope so because I am not running over that either! See you there
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Good luck with the GOTR 5K and the holiday party! Should be a lot of fun!
Congrats again on Cherry Blossom – I’m debating whether to enter the lottery.
Thanks for hosting coffee!
Deborah Brooks says
thanks and let me know if you enter. Would be fun to train w you virtually!
Wendy says
I’m busy just doing life stuff. Throw in the holidays and it’s overwhelming! I’m going for a run this morning and then I’m going to dig in…
Deborah Brooks says
Good luck to you! I feel like in some ways it’s less stressful when the kids are older with the whole presents thing
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
I’ve definitely been keeping busy and can’t believe December is here – I need more time! Congrats to your Girls on the Run group, I hope they have a great 5k! And I may consider Cherry Blossom again…Im still working on my racw calendar!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks I am really excited to run with them all tomorrow. Let me know if you get into CB
Jennifer @ Fit Nana says
I just signed up for the Cherry Blossom lottery! I’ve never run it, even though I’ve lived in the area for years. Fingers crossed!
Have fun at your 15k! Cute outfits definitely make it fun! π
Deborah Brooks says
Oh fabulous! Let me know if you get in
Shannon @GirlsGotSole says
Have a blast with your GOTR group today, and the MRTT party! I’m sure it will be a busy but fun day. π
I WISH I could go to DC to run the Cherry Blossom 10 miler! It’s on my race wish list. As far as your 15k, just go out there and have fun! 15k isn’t too bad, I bet you have a blast and finish it without realizing the distance. LOL!
Deborah Brooks says
Uh if you say so!
Maureen @ Maureen Gets Real says
How cool you got to vote on the design for the Cheery Blossom 10 mile race! That’s something very few people would ever get the chance to do. If we were having coffee, I would tell you how my body is not ready for the crazy work hours I’ll be pulling next week on my trip. Following a truck for 13 hours overnight is not going to be fun, ah!
Deborah Brooks says
Well that does not sound fun at all!
[email protected] says
Good luck with the race! So cool that you get to vote on the design for the cherry blossom
Deborah Brooks says
It was a fun and different thing to do!
Kimberly Hatting says
If you ran an 8-miler recently, the extra mile or so for the 15K will not be an issue for you. Easy Peasy π (and, of course….fashion before function…if you look good, the running is secondary).
Deborah Brooks says
It’s all about the cute outfit isn’t it?! I know you get me π
Kim G says
Wow, another GOTR season is already over? That definitely did go by pretty fast!
I think the 15K will be a great race! Like you said, a super cute holiday outfit will make the race super fun!
Deborah Brooks says
It kind of flew by! Yes the cute outfit definitely helps π
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
I would love to run the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler! But I think my husband might just shoot me if I entered the lottery. Let’s just say DC traffic is not his favorite (we really got stuck in it when we left Annapolis a couple of years ago).
I hope the party went well! Hey, I do the Turkey Trot & then I host Thanksgiving. π
Deborah Brooks says
The traffic in DC is really unpredictable you just never know!
Sara says
lol I just ran a race that I didn’t train for! I originally had the best of intentions for training to run a sub 50 minute 10k but things got in the way. How exciting all of the fun things for Cherry Blossom. I need to get back down there to run that race. The year that we did it, it was sooo windy all the blossoms blew off the trees lol.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes the wind does blow in sometimes and trash the cherry blossoms. I am going to train smartly for the 10 miler but this week is just about fun
HoHo Runs says
I’m sure you will pull your MRTT brunch together flawlessly. I’ve never run a 15k but it sounds like you’ve done perfect taper to me. π I’m sorry I missed the coffee date! We’ll have to catch up next month. Thanks for linking!
Deborah Brooks says
The party was fantastic thanks! I am quite exhausted and can’t wait to fall into my bed. Will definitely see you at the next coffee date
Lacey@fairytalesandfitness says
You definitely have to do the 15k. Like you said, you have an outfit and all. Do a run.walk if you have to. You don’t want FOMO!
Deborah Brooks says
NO definitely do not want FOMO ! LOL
AmyC says
My week was the opposite —> I felt insanely un-busy!! It was nice, but my husband is also out of town, so it became almost too quiet around here, haha! Just one of those low-key weeks on the activity schedule π
Deborah Brooks says
Feel free to come on over and do some of my crazy busy stuff!! Your week sounds like just what I need
Lesley says
I’m not too busy yet, but I’ll be busy next weekend. My mom’s coming in for a chocolate cooking class, I want to make gingerbread men, and I have to make sure I get through work until the 22nd. I’m taking some days off to enjoy Christmas.
Deborah Brooks says
A chocolate class sounds like a ton of fun! This time of year is so busy
Sarah says
I hope you and the girls had an amazing race yesterday. You are so inspiring!
If we were having coffee I would tell you things have been crazy and I need more coffee! π
Deborah Brooks says
I hear you on that one!
Teresa says
I hate I missed the Ultimate Coffee Date this month …I had the best of intentions to get that prepared before my weekend with the PCB girls, but it just didn’t happen. Now that Cherry Blossom lottery is very, very tempting!!! Can’t wait to see this cute festive outfit you have for the 15k!
Deborah Brooks says
OH sorry you missed the coffee date! next month for sure. Yes you should enter the cherry blossom lottery π
Farrah says
April 8 is when I’ll be running my first 8k, hehehe. π I hope you have fun in DC! Good luck with your races in the upcoming year!
Deborah Brooks says
Good luck to you as well! Looking forward to watching your training
