Dashing through December

Sunday-15K race

Jingle all the way was a super fun holiday race and I was glad I opted in this year. Read the recap here.

I think I may have to pull this outfit out one more time this week just for fun. It just kind of makes me smile and that’s what the holiday season is all about.

Jingling all the way | Dashing through December

Monday- 30 min treadmill walk + 60 min abs/arms

Sore from yesterday’s run so focused on some light arms and ab work.

Tuesday- rest day

Woke up super tired and with some very sore hamstrings and decided to take a rest day. Why are rest days so hard when we know that we need them?

Wednesday- 90 min strength training/kickboxing + 3 mile walk

Feeling back to myself today and ready to hit it hard in the gym. Took advantage of a slightly warmer day and had a nice 3 mile walk with a friend in the late afternoon.

Dashing through December

Thursday- 3.5 mile run

Perfect weather and a perfect group of friends made for a great run. Watched my niece perform in the Nutcracker in the evening. She was spectacular as the Snow Queen. Then the best early present of all, my daughter arrived home from college for 3 weeks. Enjoying some time alone with her until my son gets home in a few days.

Dashing through December

Friday- 45 min elliptical and shopping

Hit up the elliptical while finishing up the season of Mrs. Maisel. I really hated the ending and now I have to wait a whole year for the next season. Who else is watching it? Hit the mall with my daughter for some shopping and dinner.

Saturday- hot yoga 60 min

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

I don’t really do holiday outfits, but I have done some of my holiday hats out on a regular run. Hey, if it makes you & others smile, I say go for it!

I really have no trouble with my rest days. 🙂

The holiday outfits are fun and I am definitely going to pull it out again this week!

I wear my obnoxious holiday running gear whenever I feel the urge. A lot of my runs are in the wee hours, anyways, so I don’t have to worry about too many onlookers LOL Yay for mommy/daughter time 😉

ha I guess that’s true that you do not have too many spectators on your runs

Yes you definitely should rock that race outfit again – I love it!

I feel like December is going by so fast. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised since this happens every year, but I can’t believe that we are already half way through the month!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/16/2018 at 8:22 pm

It really does happen every year and then January is so long 🙂

Love your cute race outfit! 15k is one of my favorite distances – not too long, not too short. Your niece is an adorable Snow Queen. You are a good aunt – supporting the budding ballerina!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/16/2018 at 8:26 pm

It was fun to watch her dance 🙂

Aw glad you got some mom-daughter time. I rarely want to take rest days myself, but they really are beneficial. The girl who plays Maisel went to high school with me and graduated the year below, although I admit I have not watched many episodes.

Can see why the outfit makes you smile — it’s adorable. I need to get that shirt. I thought I had, but ended up with a different one.
    Love your friend’s lights too

“Dashing” is definitely the word to describe the pace of life recently! I actually don’t think I own any holiday running gear – I should at least get socks or a hat or something!

I really get into holiday outfits for work and casual wear but not running. I’m sort of a minimalist when I run. Less is more too me. I really really hate clothes lol.

Really?! I probably put more thought into my workout clothes

How great to have your daughter home! I don’t think I’ll be seeing mine until January …. This week’s weather was all over the place – again! We are only 2 episodes into the new season of Mrs. Maisel!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/16/2018 at 9:51 pm

It is great to have her home for a few weeks. I totally binge watched Mrs Maisel and finished it in a week. Did not like the ending at all.

Isn’t is scary how quickly December is just dashing by? I love your cute Christmas running outfit! I will definitely dress up a bit for a race but don’t bother with it on a dark early morning run. 😉 Enjoy the holiday time with the kids! Thanks for linking.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/17/2018 at 2:58 pm

It is certainly flying by! I would not dress up for an o dark thirty run either (unless there was a group photo ha ha)

We are on about the sixth episode of the first season of Mrs. Maisel and haven’t quite gotten “into” it. I like it, but don’t love it. I will continue to watch it though…

    Have a great week!
