And we are dashing right through the first week of December! November always seems to fly by for me. Here is a peek into my week of fitness. Thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down.

Dashing into December

Sunday- 4.5 mile walk + barre + core

Oh it was a chilly morning! I met a friend for a hilly walk which turned into 4.5 miles. Yay for hitting that step count early!

Monday- 3 miles walk + full body Peloton strength + stretch

It was our coldest morning yet and much colder than our normal weather for December. No fear, I bundled up and met another friend for another weighted vest walk. Later, I finished week 5 of my strength program with Andy on Peloton. While all the holiday meals and celebrations were fabulous, I am ready to get back on track with eating and exercise.

Tuesday-3.5 mile run + Full body strength with Pvolve

Dashing into December with our first sub 30 degree run of the season and it felt pretty great to me. After, I jumped into a full body strength with Pvolve. I’m still learning how to use all of the new to me equipment, but so far so good.

Wednesday- hiking tread class + full body strength + core + afternoon walk

I had a great morning stack of Peloton hikes and strength to get my check mark for day 3 of the #3for31 challenge. Later, I bundled up and met a friend for a post lunch walk. I’ve been loving my post lunch walks and they are even better with friends.

Thursday-Tread walk + Pvolve lower body + Pilates + upper body strength

We awoke to 50 mph winds so what did I do? Bailed on my run, fell back to sleep and hit my home gym. My weighted vest walk took place on the tread followed by another Pvolve workout. After lunch,  I did a quick upper body strength and stretch before getting ready for a friend’s birthday party. Dashing into December holiday parties.

My husband was out of town so I brought along my handsome friend. Oddly, he sort of looks like a cutout ha but I assure you he is real. I may have had a few too many glasses of champagne and more carbs than I needed. LOL

Friday-Peloton tread hike + full body strength + core

It was a rough morning over here. I took my time getting into my workout but I got it done. Later, I went over to a friend’s house for a challah braiding lesson. I saw something on IG that had braided sesame, poppy and Zataar spice-mine need some practice for aesthetics but it tasted great.

Saturday- 3 mile power walk + core

This week just whizzed by again. Are you Dashing into December?

Looks like a fun, busy week! I bet your challah bread tasted great!

    Who is the mystery man?

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/08/2024 at 1:12 pm

The mystery man is a long time friend who is like an uncle to my kids. He makes a great handsome date

What a fun week! I can’t believe we’re already well into December. Your challah looks so good! we haven’t made challah in ages, I need to get back into it!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/08/2024 at 1:12 pm

I always forget how time intensive it is to make challah! Huge respect for those who do it every week

It was really cold last week — that just prepared me for Chicago. 😉

I did think your friend was a cutout —must be the lighting.

    Love the bread!

      12/08/2024 at 1:13 pm

      ha he is definitely real!

    I’m drooling over the challah

You’re so good about getting those workouts done.

I went from 18 degrees to 39 degrees.

Florida is not warm but up to 70 by afternoon. Not complaining.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/08/2024 at 1:13 pm

Florida is so iffy this time of the year!

OMG, that wind was awful on Thursday! You were smart to stay inside.
Your challa bread making class looks fun. One year a client gave me a package with all the ingredients I’d need to make challa bread. It made six loaves and per the directions I divided and put all but one in the freezer. Every few weeks I’d get out a loaf to thaw and bake. I didn’t braid it, just baked it as a loaf. It was the tastiest bread I’ve ever eaten!

challah bread is delicious but I forgot how time intensive the process is!

Yes, definitely dashing into December over here! It’s a crazy month. Sounds like you had a fun week. Yes, your friend does look like a cutout in the photo, that’s funny! And… yum. That challah looks GOOD. I love all the festivities!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/08/2024 at 1:16 pm

It was fun to have him as my date!

  7. Jenn says

    12/08/2024 at 10:57 am

I totally thought your friend was a cutout lol! That’s hilarious!

I wanted to make a babka for Chrismukkah, but that challah looks pretty good too. Maybe I should try that instead. We have to do things a little more diabetic friendly as my stepdad has been recently diagnosed and my mom is really on top of his food. We are doing a pastrami style turkey breast and latkes with both potato and zucchini. It’s been a challenge.

Glad you are able to keep moving in spite of the wind. Weather has been wild.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/08/2024 at 1:16 pm

challah would def be better as it would not have all the sugar. Latkes are always yummy!

We have that kind of braided bread in Switzerland, but only on Sundays. I’ve tried to make it myself in the past, but it’s quite tricky to get it right. Great job!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/08/2024 at 1:17 pm

It Is definitely tricky to make and takes longer than expected!

  9. Kimberly Hatting says

    12/08/2024 at 1:06 pm

Same with the “fake” cutout of your friend. I think it’s the back-lighting. The challah sounds delish! I’d love to give it a try!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/08/2024 at 1:17 pm

Challah is always delicious but I am not motivated enough to make my own each week when it’s so easy to buy. Major respect for those who do make it each week

  10. Susanne says

    12/08/2024 at 1:22 pm

Your friend does look a bit photoshopped, haha!
In Sweden where I from it’s common to make braided cinnamon loaves of sort (sweet like cinnamon rolls but.. like a braided loaf). Yours looks good!
Post-lunch walks are the best. Hope you’re enjoying your new gear/exercise classes.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/08/2024 at 4:56 pm

This bread is typical of Jewish Shabbat customs and not really too sweet. But now I want cinnamon bread lol. Yes, post run walks are the bet and I think are very helpful to me right now

Your bread looks good! My husband makes a delicious challah bread and it’s my favorite! Looks like a fun event with your handsome friend 😉 You look great in that dress!

      12/09/2024 at 8:30 am

Challah is so good and worth the extra effort to make!

  12. San says

That sounds like a fun week! Cold but sunny weather! That’s lovely!
And then a holiday party and challah baking session! I love challah. So cool you got to bake together. with a friend.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/09/2024 at 8:30 am

yes a fun week all around 🙂

  13. Liz Dexter says

That challah looks amazing! We never bake now, with Matthew being so good with his diabetes management! Very windy here over the weekend – I had to do yesterday’s run today!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/11/2024 at 7:51 pm

I don’t bake too often anymore with the kids gone, but it sure is yummy when we do!
