Can you really have too many shoes? I say no but I am guessing my husband would beg to differ. I have changed my running shoe selections a few times over the years and written about them before. Today, I am sharing my current faves for running, gym days and recovery. This post may contain affiliate links.
Can you really have too many shoes?
Running
My current go-to running shoes are Brooks Glycerins. As someone who has had foot issues in the past, I love the extra cushioning they offer. Admittedly, I do often buy shoes based on color, and sometimes when I see a new color has come out, I stock up. I ran in stability shoes for years and now believe a neutral shoe suits me better. Currently, I am alternating between these 2 pairs but I am due for a new pair. I am coveting this “fig” color. Seriously I have issues. I have to give a shoutout to our local Roports store as they give our running group an extra 10% discount. Helps to fuel the shoe addiction!
Gym
I like to keep one pair of cross training shoes only for gym workouts. These Adidas Edge Lux are fashionable and sturdy. They get me through strength training and kick boxing each week. The crisp white color matches everything and has managed to stay pretty clean so far.
Recovery
It’s important to give our feet some love after they run all the miles and hit the gym. My favorite recovery shoes in the summer time are Oofos. I don’t do well walking around the house barefoot consequently, you will usually find me wearing these OOlala sandals around. I love all the new colors that have come out this year.

I also run with Brooks Glycerins now. Brooks are my favorite brand at the moment.
I have always 2 different pair of running shoes so i can alternate them to preserve my feet.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes that is a smart way to run!
Wendy says
Have you seen the rose gold Sperry top siders? I am wanting those so bad!
Deborah Brooks says
I may actually have those as well ๐ Sshh don’t tell anyone
Debbie says
I need those rose and gold Oofos! I love mine but they’re not rose and gold (I have a bit of obsession with that color too). They would match the watch, RoadID, and sunglasses I always wear. ๐
I also switched from a more stable shoe to Mizuno Wave Riders which are neutral, and I’ve done really well. Though I did just earn a pair of Asics Kayanos, which I love (and used to wear all the time). Fortunately, my husband feels the same about shoes as I do, meaning he doesn’t notice all of mine but we do have shoes everywhere in our house!
Deborah Brooks says
I need to get my husband on board so he won’t complain!
Kim G says
You can never have too many running sneakers! I have more sneakers than dress shoes, lol.
I also love Oofos! I’ve been enjoying slipping on a pair of compression socks and my Oofos after my weekend long runs.
Thanks for linking up with us!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes that’s a great combination!
Laurie says
Too many shoes? What an odd concept! Our local running store gives a 10% discount to our running club too. One of the reasons I try to buy locally, rather than online.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes it makes a huge difference for shoes.
Maureen @ Maureen Gets Real says
I don’t think you can have too many shoes! It’s beneficial to have different shoes so your feet don’t get used to just one.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes indeed! That’s my excuse anyway ๐
San says
I definitely pay attention to color when it comes to my running shoes! How could you not! ๐ How many shoes do you have at any given time?
Deborah Brooks says
I would say I have 2 runnings shoes and 2 gym shoes in my rotation at any given time.
Kimberly Hatting says
No, thereโs no such thing as โtoo many shoes,โ in running or in life. End of discussion ๐
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks for validating my shoe obsession!
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Love rose gold! I work out at home, and yup, I do it barefoot, so luckily I don’t need cross training shoes. Old running shoes get relegated to walk the dog shoes.
I like Brooks, but Glycerins weren’t for me (I do like Ghosts).
Deborah Brooks says
The rose gold is fun. Interesting you workout barefoot. I do my ST at home but I always wear shoes
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Definitely no such thing as too many shoes1
I’ve been curious about the Glycerins and I have to admit that I spotted the new fig color and my first thought was “perfect for fall” ๐
Deborah Brooks says
I know they just suck us in with the cute colors! ๐
Zenaida Arroyo says
I love that aqua form color for the Glycerin!! Too many shoes? No way! I have quite a collection of Tieks shoes too. ๐
Deborah Brooks says
The color selection has really gone up a notch!
Cedar says
Hahaha this is so me! I’m crazy into shoe color! I always stick with Brooks Adrenaline since I’ve been running in them for about 10 years and had no leg/foot problems, but holy cow I love those Adidas white/rose gold shoes. May just have to get them…
Deborah Brooks says
The Adidas shoes are for the gym so I can justify those too!
Jenn says
Oh. Em. Gee. I love those Adidas shoes! Although I would totally wear them for hanging around and “lifestyle” purposes.
And the answer? You can NEVER have too many running/workout/recovery shoes.
Deborah Brooks says
Those are great lifestyle shoes and very comfy!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
I finally found a pair of shoes that don’t make my toes feel all squished up so I bought a pair for running, another pair for hiking, and a pair for work plus when I lift. They’re Saucony’s Peregrine trail shoes and rather bulky, but feel so good! My absolute most comfortable workout shoes are my Pearl Izumi bike shoes. I love them! ๐
Deborah Brooks says
You do your ST with bike shoes?
Marc Pelerin says
Nope, you can NEVER have too many pairs of shoes! I’ve been known to train in multiple pairs over the years – two trainers, racing flats, and at least two pairs of spikes… so yeah, can never have enough.
Deborah Brooks says
completely agree!
Cari says
I love the fig colored ones you’re considering. I’m lately thinking more on dark to hide the dirt as, for some reason, dirty looking sneakers bother me
Deborah Brooks says
Ha dirty sneakers bother me as well! Good excuse to buy a new pair right?! ๐
Cari says
Absolutely
I’m hoping to find the 1080s I love in something other than the 3rd color I’ve seen – a light blue which is just as much of a dirt magnet as the whites I own. Might have to go with a second pair of black and put in new laces to tell them apart. Luckily I think I still have a pair of SweatPink ones somewhere
Deborah Brooks says
Cannot have too many pairs! ๐
