I have to admit that I have always shied away from meditation. It always just seemed a little hokey for me plus, did I really want to get into my head? Turns out, it’s not about getting into your head but out of it. Hmmm…After a little push from a friend, I decided to dive into the insanely popular Peloton 2 Week Power of Sleep Mediation Program. Is it a “snooze fest”? Well, Yes it is but turns out that is exactly what it is supposed to be. So what’s it all about? How does it work?
Peloton 2 Week Power of Sleep Meditation Program
The Peloton 2 week “Power of Sleep” Meditation Program was launched in early 2020. This past year, it has gained tremendous popularity within the Peloton community. I never really had trouble falling asleep until this last year. I mean, 2020 was enough to knock me and everyone else off of their regular schedules. Staying up later binge watching Netflix did not make for the best sleep hygiene.
So how does the Power of sleep meditation work?
Designed to be done as one 14 day program, the “Power of Sleep” meditations are either 5 minute or 10-minute classes depending on the day. They are taught by 4 instructors: Ross Rayburn, Aditi Shah, Kristin McGee, and Anna Greenberg. I am not going to rate the instructors because they are all terrific. Besides, we all connect with different types of personalities and voices.
Each evening, you log onto the program and pick up right where you left off. It is suggested to do the classes either in your bed lying down or sitting comfortably in a yoga position. I listened to the meditations with the lights off, in my bed in my “sleeping position” with my phone on the bed next to my head.
The instructors lead you through a series of breathing exercises that help to free your mind of outside thought to reach a deeper level of relaxation. Other classes focus on doing a full-body scan to become more aware of where you might be holding onto tension. The goal of this process is to help to calm your mind, relax your body fully, and set the stage for a more restful night’s sleep. I really enjoy the “spa like” music that helps me to regulate my breathing.
How does a Peloton sleep meditation class end?
I have no idea. I’ve never made it through a class without falling asleep. Apparently, this is quite common and normal. I have found that after listening to a Peloton Power of Sleep meditation class, I fall asleep much faster. I’ve had a lot of energy for the last few weeks. Related? Maybe.
Many Peloton users have become instant fans and have continued to use the full library of meditation classes offered on the app. The power of sleep program is designed to help you gently dive into meditation.

I need something like this! I am struggling with sleep, both falling asleep and staying asleep. I have been taking my CBD drops on the nights that I can’t shut my mind off. That really helps a lot. But I don’t want to rely on it. I will have to check this out.
Deborah Brooks says
It is definitely worth a try and it’s just a few minutes a day. Nothing to lose!

I had a tough time shutting off my brain. I don’t think I’m stressed (because it’s not anxiety-driven “thoughts”), I just simply don’t feel tired. Years ago, I worked with a breathing app and that was great for relaxation and clearing my head (without “trying” to clear my head). I need to look into this…thanks for the rec!
Deborah Brooks says
That’s how I feel I am always making lists or thinking about things I need to do the next day. I found it helpful

SO I have been thinking about getting the Peleton bike…. are these classes included in the cheaper membership or the upgraded one cause I would be super interested in trying this out before bed.
Deborah Brooks says
So yes, if you just have the app (without the bike) which is free trial right now for 2 months you can take advantage of all of the classes and programs. You can also access the cycle classes to use on any bike. Happy to assist if you have any further questions please reach out. I am such a Peloton fan and happy to help! I also have a small discount code to share for the bike

I either have a problem falling asleep and if I fall asleep right away, I can’t stay asleep…UGH!
I’m not a meditation person either. Or can I imagine myself committing to 14 days of anything lol.
But I’m sure it’s worth a listen while I have the 2 month trial.
Thanks for linking up.
Deborah Brooks says
yes check out a few while you have the app-you might like it. I am having trouble commenting on you site but I will try again
Mimi says
Luckily I don’t struggle with sleep but I bet my mom could really use it
Deborah Brooks says
Feel free to pass it along thanks!

Good to hear the program worked for you. As you know I am a big believer in meditation – I’ve been using some of the sleep meditations on Insight Timer which have been helping a lot.
Do you think you’ll try any of the other Peloton meditation classes?
Thanks for linking up 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
I think I will try them out! I will let you know how it goes
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
I’ve never been good at meditating but doing a session right before bed is a good idea! So when it ends if you’re already sleeping does the app just stop?
Deborah Brooks says
I have fallen asleep every time but I do get up and turn my phone off for the night
Julie @ Running in a Skirt says
What an interesting program! I have trouble sleeping sometimes and this seems like it could really help. Checking it out!
Deborah Brooks says
I hope it works for you too
San says
I’ve tried the sleep meditation program… and while I only almost fell asleep a few times, I did like how the 5-10 minutes really brought me down and ready to go to sleep!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes it really does!
Jenn says
Oh, that interesting! I’ve never done sleep meditation (and I tend to shy away from meditation in general), just because… my brain always goes crazy.
I love that you are getting some more sleep!
Thanks for joining us!

I am so not a meditation person either, however, I did enjoy this program and found it helpful
Renée @runlaugheatpie says
I used to try mediation and sleep podcasts and still never fall asleep! ha! but I know a lot of my issues had to do with menopause, the nerve issue in my foot and restless leg syndrome. Since starting HRT things have been better but I sill wake up from my foot and/or legs.
Deborah Brooks says
Something like this might help you relax a bit
Zenaida Arroyo says
I remember taking one of the classes and also fell asleep. This was not at night but during the day. The nap felt really good. 🙂 I paused my Peloton membership so right now cannot take any of the classes. I have to figure out what I am going to do just like I need to figure out my life!
Deborah Brooks says
Ha good luck! 🙂
Tisha says
I struggle with sleep often. Definitely need something like this.
Deborah Brooks says
Let me know if you give it a try!
Angela Campos says
Wow, I did not know they had this program! This sounds amazing!! Can’t wait to try it out.

I was really impressed with it. Let me know how it goes for you
Liz Dexter says
I will definitely try this when I can get the app set up, I had no idea it existed, so thank you!
Deborah Brooks says
I think you will like it!

This sounds like a great option for getting your sleep on the right track! I find that doing something relaxing or meditating, with calming music, before bed helps me fall into a deeper sleep.
Deborah Brooks says
It sure does help!
Nicole @ Foodie Loves Fitness says
The fact that you fell asleep every night before it was over is a good sign! I definitely am not a great sleeper and I’ve honestly felt tired since I was pregnant.. Add to that my temperamental 17 month old sleeper (wonder where she gets that from haha)! I’ve been meditating for awhile, and sometimes I love it and sometimes I’m like ugh I can’t turn my brain off. It has been shown to have lots of health perks, and I often feel like taking deep breaths and slowing down for a few minutes does me a lot of good!
Deborah Brooks says
I believe it does me good as well but as you say, sometimes it’s hard to get it in
