Bend And Brew- A Somewhat Tipsy Review

I was completely intrigued when I heard about “Bend and Brew”. Bend and Brew is a collaboration between Core Power Yoga and Mad Fox Brewing to bring together yoga and beer tasting. Yep, 2 totally unrelated and seemingly incongruous activities. I knew I wanted in though!

Bend and Brew

Admittedly, I am really not a beer drinker at all. I am, a lover of yoga and a fan of Core Power Yoga classes. I was intrigued by this unconventional blend and curious to check it out. Naturally, I roped in one of my fellow running buddies to join me and we set up our mats to see what was “on tap”.

Bend and Brew was held at Mad Fox Brewing-a local favorite Craft Beer hangout which happens to be next door to Core Power Yoga. Half of the restaurant was cleared out and ready for the yogis to set up their mats. We were then instructed to pick up our beer flights from the bar and place them at the front of our mats. That was a first!

The beer flight was arranged from lightest to darkest. As I mentioned, not a beer drinker, so I have no idea what exactly they were. I do know that I prefer the lighter beers as opposed to the ales.

A great class for beginner yogis. The vibe was very laid back and accepting of newer students. A group of about 20 students with 2 instructors provided a welcoming atmosphere with opportunities for hands on assistance. The beer tasting was creatively woven into our practice.

While in a forward fold or yogi squat we were instructed to take a sip of our beers. As I mentioned, not a big beer drinker here and I may have gotten a little tipsy by the end. Holding a yoga squat while balancing a beer is not easy!

I am embarrassed to admit I spilled a whole beer all over my yoga mat. That was also a first! In case you missed it a few weeks ago, this is the easiest & most efficient way to clean a yoga mat.

I’ve heard of wine runs and beer runs where you get a free beverage at the end but never yoga. I think events like this are fun and a great outing for friends!

I’m not much of a beer drinker either, but I still think this sounds like a lot of fun. My yoga studio occasionally has a wine night, but I’m pretty sure they drink after class. 🙂

It was lots of fun! Yes may have been easier to drink afterwards 🙂

How fun! I kind of assumed that it would be yoga first and then beer tasting afterward. I’m sure I would have spilled the beer too if I tried to drink it while doing yoga 🙂

I had not heard of Bend and Brew until I saw your IG post – glad you had a fun time. The person on the mat next to me might get loaded because I really don’t like beer and I’d be gifting my beer to my neighbors! LOL

ha ha ha….NO, I have not combined the two ((yet)) LOL I am not a beer drinker, either. I can drink it, but honestly…everything tastes the same to me (and not exactly good). I’d be tipsy, too, and probably spilling more than just beer on my mat if I’d have joined you 😉 This looks like a fun event, though!!
