Thanks for linking up with Kim and me for the weekly run down this week. We wrapped up our last minute trip to Southern France and Italy and are back home once again. Au Revoir France and Ciao Italy. I did a pretty good job keeping up my fitness while traveling. Here is a peek into my week of fitness and travel.
Au Revoir and Ciao
We were on a friend’s boat for a few days in Southern France and Italy and had the opportunity to visit a few different spots this week in both countries. I have way better photos on IG as they seem to be easier to add over there.
Sunday- 4 mile run in St Tropez + Peloton stretch
It was very hot this week in Europe as it has been in much of the US. I got myself out there early enough to beat the strong heat and get in a run right on the waterside of St. Tropez. It was flat thankfully and very picturesque.
Monday-Peloton cycle + core + upper body strength + barre
I got in a short workout today before heading out to explore Monaco. At night, we hit the famous casino right out of many James Bond movies.
Tuesday- hiking in Cinque Terre, Italy
There is a well known hiking trail that traverses through 5 small, Italian coastal villages that we had the opportunity to explore. We started in Monterossa and hiked to Vernazza. We saw olive and lemon trees and wine grapes. The views were fantastic and it was a great workout. Runner’s world has this area as one of their dream running spots although it is more of a hike, not a run. This was probably my favorite day of the trip.
Wednesday- Peloton gym day core + barre + upper body
I love that my Peloton workouts can come along with me anywhere! I spend the rest of the day relaxing and reading with a view.
Thursday- 3.5 mile run in Portofino, Italy
My last international run (for now anyway!) was in the gorgeous, albeit hilly town of Portofino. Having visited here before, I knew how charming and very Italian this little town is, I went on a scenic and hilly run in the morning and returned later for lunch with my husband. There may have been a gelato stop as well. See my Instagram for more photos.
Our last night of the trip came quickly and it was time to pack up.
Friday- Flying home
All good things must come to an end! Au revoir and ciao until next time! We flew home today and of course, I made sure I got a quick Peloton stretch class in to keep up my blue dot streak. Nothing like sleeping in your own bed with your own pillows.
Saturday- laundry and grocery shopping
Back home! I spent my day doing laundry, grocery shopping, and getting things back in order. I forced myself to stay up until 9:30 last night in the hopes of readjusting to the time easier.
Sunday- on the plan 6 mile run
Hoping to get back on track with longer runs this week.

Looks absolutely stunning! It’s been years since I’ve been to that part of the world. I have been to that casino though! We were there for the Monaco Grand Prix a billion years ago. So fun!
Deborah Brooks says
Ooh that would be fun! It is a cool casino to visit

What an exciting week of travel & adventure! I love the pic of the boats, too…looks like a beautiful painting. Great job keeping that blue dot streak alive and thriving:-)

Loved your IG pix… what an amazing trip.
I spent my junior year of college in Nice. But as a poor college student, there were no fitness related activities or luxury accomodations/food. Still the best year ever.
Deborah Brooks says
I bet it was!! Great experience for sure and my one regret from college is not doing that
Melissa says
Wow, what an incredible trip. Your photographs almost don’t look real! I hope you had an amazing time.
Deborah Brooks says
we really did and the little towns were so picturesque
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
What a fabulous adventure and I so loved following along by seeing your pictures. And I love how you were able to fit runs in while traveling. Sometimes that works and sometimes it just doesn’t.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, I did manage to fit in some great runs and a hike. I do love when that all comes together
Jenny says
Your pictures are AMAZING!!! Cinque Terre is definitely a dream spot- I’ve never been there but always hear about it. My trips to Europe have always been about the big cities, but if I go back I want to go to these areas (now I just need a friend with a boat, ha ha.) Sounds like you had some great runs! I’m sure it feels good to be home and get back into your regular routine.
Deborah Brooks says
That hike there was one of my favorite days of the trip. So picturesque and quaint. The runs were more about sightseeing but super glad I was able to fit them in. Yes, it is always nice to be back home

What an incredible summer of travel for you! Honestly, I don’t know if I would have come home. I could happily spend the rest of my life in Italy or France. Easy.
So great that you could get in all your workouts, too!
