Thanks for joining Kim and me for the Weekly Run Down. This week, we barely saw the sun. It wasn’t super cold but we had lots of rain and it was just kind of dreary. That did not stop me though! Here is a peek into my fitness for the week.
Weekly Run Down
Monday- core + mobility + upper body push + Peloton cycle + stretch
I decided to repeat the same 3-day Peloton split this week. So, today was Push Day again with lots of chest and tricep work. It was pretty tough so just a short and easy Peloton cycle. I am determined to keep up my 30 minutes per day of some sort of stretch/mobility/yoga combo.
Tuesday- Run day 6 miles + stretch
It was a rainy one today! My plan had a warm-up + 25 min at half marathon pace + 15-sec striders/45-sec recovery x 10. I was a little worried about the fast finish but it went pretty well even in the rain. My new Gortex Ghosts were a game-changer. Full review coming soon!
Wednesday- core + upper body strength + Peloton cycle + stretch
Today’s strength was biceps and back “pull”. I did a short cycle class and my stretches later in the day. I am doing much less cycling right now as I am upping my run mileage and intensity.
Thursday- 4.5-mile hill repeats + stretching
My plan called for :
3 x 1 min up hill/1 min downhill
2 x 3 min uphill/ 3 min downhill
I did a 2-mile warm-up and cool-down. We can call this challenging but not crushing. It was raining again today but we caught a break and got most of our run done keeping dry. What doesn’t kill you…
Friday- 30 min lower body strength + core + stretch
lower body Peloton class was spicy 🌶️ I think I am going to feel all those squats tomorrow.
We had our 10th Birthday party for our MRTT group at a local restaurant. It was so much fun to see everyone out of their running clothes. We clean up well!
Saturday-rest day and stretching
I am tired today! Glad it’s my rest day. We have another dressy 50th birthday party to go to tonight. It is kind of fun to have some more social stuff back.
Sunday-on the plan 8 mile easy run
I have 8 miles on my Wilpers run plan again this week. Looks like the rain will hold off until afternoon.
It has been a super rain-filled week here and we did not see the sun ☀️. I won’t complain too much because the temps are pretty mild and we don’t have any ice or snow.
Wendy says
Looks like you didn’t let the rain stop you! I love those GoreTex Ghosts! My trail shoes are also GoreTex, which will come in handy today since we got a dusting of snow overnight. Here’s to hoping for some sunshine for all of us. Have a great run today!
Deborah Brooks says
Hope we get some sun this week although not optimistic!
Melissa says

Super gloomy and rainy here as well but like you said, I can’t complain because it could be so much worse! Happy anniversary to your DRTT group!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks can’t believe it’s been 10 years!
Darlene S. Cardillo says
Yes we need some sun here too.
Hopefully this is a better week for that.
Good luck with your run today.
Deborah Brooks says
It was a rough start this morning but got it done!
Kimberly Hatting says
Wow, so much rain! Great job not letting it get on your way. As you know we had snow, from Wednesday on… but we did also have sunshine, so I guess it’s an even draw 🙂 Good luck on your run today, and Happy Birthday to your MRTT family!
Deborah Brooks says
thanks it was fun to celebrate with them! So much rain and we finished just as it started today
Debbie says
What a fun week you had socially! Congrats on your MRTT chapter’s 10 year anniversary! Isn’t it fun getting together with running friends off the trail?
Deborah Brooks says
It was really nice to see everyone in real clothes for a change

I was grateful that there was no ice & snow south, so I could actually get a nice walk in on the way home. We still have a dusting of snow and ice — with more snow on the way.
Congrats on all the fun stuff this week in addition to fitness! Yes, you definitely clean up well.
Deborah Brooks says
I am definitely grateful for no snow or ice but miss the sun. It is fun to get dressed up every once in a while
Jessie says
Love the mobility/stretching goal.
Sounds like London winter weather there 🙂 That blue rain jacket is cute!
Deborah Brooks says
ha I guess we do have London weather 🙂
Michelle says
Congrats on 10 years for your MRTT group!
We had so much rain here too – I need to order those Gortex Ghosts.
Hope your 8-miler went well.

It’s funny to hear about everyone’s weather- snow! Rain! Gray skies! 85 degrees (oh, that’s probably just me.) It was a perfect week for you to try out those shoes. You had a lot of great runs!
Deborah Brooks says
it was a perfect week to try the shoes! I was glad I had them
Susanne says
Looks like a nice week! You look so posh in that party dress. 🙂
Before my foot injury, I did a lot of hill walking and enjoyed it so much!
Running in the rain is quite nice if it’s warm enough – my only problem is having my glasses covered by raindrops. But I hope you get to see the sun soon again!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, I could see having glasses in the rain would be annoying! It was fun to get dressed up 🙂
San says
Ugh, it’s so hard to dial back on cycling when running ramps up. I want to do it all – haha. Hope your training plan is going well – I wanna do Matt’s plan some time. Curious how you like it.
Love that picture of you all dressed up! Hope it was a fun party!
Deborah Brooks says
I want to do it all too but not get hurt 🙂 This is my 4th round of Matt’s training I love it
Shathiso says
You and hubby look lovely – and are those cocktails I see on his shoes?
Deborah Brooks says

I was going to do one of the 3 day strength split programs this week but think I will wait until next week to do it. My body is super sore from the strength training I did over the weekend!
I LOVE that photo of you are your husband – you both look amazing, and your dress is gorgeous!
Deborah Brooks says
You already do a lot w OTF classes as well! I do like the programs. It was fun to get all dressed up again thanks!
