I was really excited when I was offered the opportunity to review a sample box of Nakd Bars as I had never seen them before and I am always on the hunt for healthier snacks.
The idea behind Nakd Bars (a young UK company ) is simple. Their snack bars are designed to bring health conscious consumers an unprocessed, clean whole foods option that is easy to take on the go. First, I was amazed by how many varieties they had. I was sent a box of 13 different flavors.
What’s in them??
“With nothing but raw fruits and nuts smooshed together, Eat Nakd Bars contain 100% natural ingredients, no added sugars, syrups…completely wheat, dairy and Gluten Free”.
The base of the bars are dates and the samples I was sent are at least 50% dates. The dates are combined with cashews, raisins, pecans, almonds, cocoa, strawberry and banana depending on the flavor. You can see right on the package what percentage of each ingredient makes up each bar. That is a unique touch that I really liked.
What’s not in them??
Literally the “Fruit and Nut” bars contain nothing other than fruit and nuts. The Crunch variety of the bars have added soy to provide a crunchier texture. There are no hidden sugars, fillers, preservatives, artificial anything.
Dietary Friendliness
These bars are Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten Free, Dairy Free and most are Paleo friendly as well. The only dietary restriction I see is nuts obviously. Most varieties have between 120-150 calories each. Providing a mix of protein, carbs and fat. What is even more interesting is the processing of the bars:
“It only takes 35 minutes to make a Nākd bar, from mixing all the yummy ingredients to popping it in the pack – compare that with a baked cereal bar which is so processed and ingredient-laden that it takes 3hours 45mins to make. That’s 6x longer! We think this just goes to show that making foods with a wholefood approach is much better – both for you and the planet.”
My favorite flavor so far is the Ginger Bread as I really enjoy the cinnamon and clove flavors. Pair that with my afternoon coffee and I am a happy girl. This bar contains dates, almonds, pecans, ginger, cloves & cinnamon-that’s it.
I find the texture similar to that of a Fig Newton type cookie or a Lara Bar. They do not taste overly sweet but give me enough of a sweetness to get me through that time in the afternoon where I am looking for something to snack on.
Right now the bars are only available on line here (free shipping). They currently have a variety pack special for 13 bars at $9.99.
What’s your go to snack bar these days?

Looks tasty! I love that there are no added sugars or syrups and minimally processed! The gingerbread looks great!! 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
I love that there is no sugar either!

Sounds like many great flavors to try. Love that they are less than 200 calories a bar. Some protein bars are so caloric.
Deborah Brooks says
So true! People sometimes don’t read what is in them.
Mary Beth Jackson says
I think I have only one bar left! I really liked them : ) Nice review!
Deborah Brooks says
Some of the flavors were really good!
Tina Muir says
ooooh I have heard of these, and I have wanted ti try them….now even more so! They sound delicious, and I love that they are truly natural….and I LOVE fruits and nuts! What a great runner snack! Thanks for the review!
Deborah Brooks says
I was wondering if you had heard of them. I love how unprocessed they are.
Kelli says
These look good. Sounds similar to Larabars in ingredients (which I love). The “crunch” option also sounds good for a texture change.
Deborah Brooks says
They are really similar and have such clean ingredients. Give them a try!
Coco (@Got2Run4Me) says
Hmm, I like fig newtons, but not Lara bars. Maybe you could bring me one to try at our coffee date tomorrow? 😉
Deborah Brooks says
Ha ha yes sure! I do t really like Lara bars either. These were better
Diatta @ Femme Fitale Fit Club says
These seem similar to the Vega One bars which are made primarily of dates. NOT bad and dates are becoming my new best friend. Healthy way to sweeten up your snack life. These do not look bad even though I am not a bar person because the others had so much “junk” in them.
Deborah Brooks says
I am not a big bar person anymore bc of the same reasons however these are as clean as a bar can get!
Jen says
Never tried these but I see in the store. Sounds really good so I think I’ll have to give them a try
Deborah Brooks says
They are good and very clean eats!
Jess @hellotofit says
Oh, I love the minimal ingredients in these bars! They sound like Larabars 🙂 I love KIND and Larabars, but am always down to try some new ones!
Deborah Brooks says
They are pretty clean and are similar to those yes. They have tons of flavors
Molly @alsoranagain says
Those sound good! My favorite snack bar right now is probably the Luna lemon bar. It’s lame because it’s mass produced and probably full of artificial ingredients, but I like the flavor and the fact that I’m not allergic to any of the ingredients. I’m allergic to almonds, which makes it difficult to find natural energy bars that I can eat.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes being allergic to almonds I would prob stay away from these bars unfortunately. We all have things that work best for us so Luna on girlfriend!
Sharon says
These sounds great and I like that there are a variety of flavors! I’m not a fan of Larabars but like fig newtons. I will have to check them out.
Deborah Brooks says
I think you would like them! They are so natural so if you like nuts and dates give them a try
Tamsyn Smith says
I LOVE Nak’d bars. They are really popular in the UK. My favourites are rhubarb and custard, pecan pie and cashew cookie bars.
Deborah Brooks says
Oh the Pecan Pie was really good too! I hadn’t seen them before they were sent to me and I love all of the flavor options.
Susie @ SuzLyfe says
I tried one of these the other day that I actually quite liked–I want to say it was cocoa something. But they are not my total jam. But I know that for some they would be amazing–kind of like how I’m not a big LaraBar fan, but most people love them!
Deborah Brooks says
the cocoa one was good too. I am not a huge lara bar fan but I think these are better. I really like how clean and natural they are.
Sue @ This Mama Runs for Cupcakes says
These look yummy. We love Larabars in this house so I’m sure these would be great as well!
Deborah Brooks says
They were good!
Sam @ PancakeWarriors says
I have written off snack bars due to their crazy ingredients but OMG I’m sold! These sound amazing! Love that they only take 35 minutes to make – that speaks so much to me! Thanks so much for bringing these to my attention! Ginger bread sounds freaking fantastic by the way – YUM!!
Deborah Brooks says
I know! I was really impressed by the process and the minimal ingredients. Hope you like them!
