Thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down. Hello April! This week was about recovering from my trip, getting back on track with my schedule and friend and family fun.

Hello April Weekly Run Down

Sunday-morning walk + dress shopping + fly home

I was exhausted after a full day of wedding dress shopping with my daughter yesterday and had a great sleep. Luckily, I had time for a nice morning walk before the rain rolled in. Later, we had day 2 of wedding dress shopping. We’ve narrowed it down to 3 top contenders. I took an early evening flight home to DC happy and tired.

Monday-tread hike + core+ upper & lower body strength + afternoon walk

After my long weekend, I was ready to get back on track. I do like an active Monday!

Tuesday-upper body strength + core + hip mobility + 3 mile walk

Hello April! Somehow the side of my hip was bothering me from I don’t know what. Anyway, kind of took it easy today. I also created and posted this cottage cheese sorbet-it’s so much better than it sounds!

Wednesday-core + tread walk + upper body strength + afternoon walk

I finished the 2nd week of Tunde’s new arm program. I’m definitely going to feel those overhead push presses tomorrow! Later, I met a friend for another walk outside. I’ve been trying to get in a morning run or walk plus an afternoon walk daily to get a few more steps in.

Thursday-barre + core + power walk + deck cleaning

I did a quick morning core and barre class before tackling cleaning the deck for the season. After more than 2 hours out there cleaning the deck, I am not sure it really looks much better. Alas, I’m going to have to use the power washer this weekend.

Friday-power walk + full body strength

It was pretty warm and humid for April in the low 70’s. I squeezed out a brisk power walk outdoors and a full body strength via Peloton before heading out to meet my lunch dates. You may recognize these ladies!

Saturday-rest day & patio cleaning

Today was an active rest day over here as we worked on cleaning up our deck and patio for the season. Later, we had a nice family dinner to celebrate my mom’s birthday.

Hello April! Let’s do this thing.

It was great to see you as always. Power washing is not exactly resting but it does feel very productive

What a busy two weekends for you – both fun and productive in their own way. I’m loving our recent weather, but looks like this week isn’t going to be so nice. And how great to meet up with Cari and Coco!

I’m jealous of your fun lunch crew 😉 I immediately noticed the matching leggings before reading the caption, LOL. I’m gonna try making the cottage cheese treat this week, looks yummy (and healthy!).

    • Deborah Brooks says

      04/06/2025 at 3:38 pm

It doesn’t even involve cooking! Ha! Let me know what you think it’s a nice treat

Look at that gorgeous lunch crew! I love it!

I just cannot get on the cottage cheese train. I used to eat it all the time, and now it’s everywhere. Maybe I should suck it up and try again.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      04/06/2025 at 3:39 pm

Funny, I could never eat it before and still do not like it alone. I’m on board with mixing it into other foods

How exciting that 3 dresses made it to the final round! Hopefully the decision will be easy enough (like it was meant to be). It sounds like so much fun planning for a wedding and a wonderful bonding experience.

Oh yay, a meetup with Coco and Cari! How fun. I was supposed to meet up with some Peloton friends this weekend too but I got sick and had to cancel. I was so bummed.

The sorbet sounds amazing. I am always a little wary when someone says cottage cheese but I’ve heard some good things and I’d be willing to try this!

    • Deborah Brooks says

I used to hate cottage cheese but it’s growing on me and now I try to find creative ways to use it

Hooray for blogger meetups! I’m currently sitting here with DOMS and I couldn’t be happier – I joined the scary looking but actually very nice local gym, and on my second visit yesterday I picked up some free weights and did what I could remember with them from last time I did that stuff – years ago. Hope I’m on my way to a stronger more resilient me …

Yay for picking up the weights! I believe they are the key to longevity
