Thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down. I am running out of August and hopefully into some less summery weather ahead. This week, summer was sure back with a vengeance. Here’s a peek into my week of fitness.

Running Out of August

Sunday-weighted vest 3.5 mile walk + barre week 4 class 1 & 2

I had a nice sleep in and then met a friend for our hilly weighted vest walk. It has been fun to get some of my run crew into the weighted vests also. Then, I began the week 4 of set the barre program knocking out the first 2 classes.

Monday-  Peloton hiking + Pilates + legs/core strength

After 4 weeks of Rebecca’s split training, I was ready to switch up my strength classes this week. Mondays are always better when they start off with a good sweat.

Tuesday-Peloton cycle + barre

Today’s resurgence of summer and a lovely heat wave had me looking for other options. I hopped on my Peloton for the first time all summer  and forgot how much I enjoyed it. I also finished the set the barre program with the 1 hour final class. Honestly, a 60 min barre class was a little much for me. I’m going to stick with the shorter classes going forward.

Wednesday-3 mile walk + upper body pull strength + core + stretch

Summer returned with a vengeance today bringing in some intense temps around 101. I got my outdoor walk in and then hit the weights.

I pulled this fortune cookie out of my husband’s order and thought it was perfect for me!

Weekly run down

Thursday-3.5 mile run/walk + core + walk

Humidity was in full tilt this morning! We finished up our run just as some thunder started rolling in!

Weekly run down

Friday-peloton walk + upper body strength + core

We had thunder storms all night and it was still raining and gross this morning so a tread walk with the weighted vest it was followed by a tough upper body class. Just the way I like it.

Saturday- 5 mile walk + core + stretch

I met a friend for a 5 mile hilly walk today. Bonus for me, she wanted to switch weighted vests as hers was a little heavier. After 6 weeks of walking with mine, I was ready to upgrade. Our miles flew by!

The weather was pretty gross this past week after the previous week’s tease of fall-like weather.

Does the weighted vest make you hotter with it on your back? Also, does it bother your knees? Early this spring I got a little “fluffier” and my knees started hurting, but as soon as I lost those extra 4-5 pounds, they quit bothering me.

I am already so hot so I don’t think the vest makes me hotter. My knees are the one place that never hurt. I didn’t’ notice anything when walking with the vest

It warmed up here too but it will be much cooler this week. I hope that helps my runs.

Still you are always so active. And keep fit.

I hope we all get some fall like weather soon

It has been so humid this week! Ugh.

I think 20 min of barre is all I can stand. I’m impressed you finished the whole program!

I was determined to finish the program but would not repeat it. I’m going to stick to what I love about the 10 min classes

Nice job getting in all that activity in the heat and with a weighted vest! wow, as usual your mix of activities inspires me to do more!

I do love to mix it up!

You are the queen of mixing it up! Sounds like you had a great week.
I want the job of writing fortunes for fortune cookies- wouldn’t that be fun?
Hope you have nicer weather heading your way.

That would be a fun job yes!

Yeah, I’d think 60 minutes of Barre would be overkill. I think the few 30-minute ones I’ve done have seemed far too long, LOL, but like the 10-20 minutes ones. You are really rocking that weighted vest! Our humidity was crazy last week, even on the cool mornings. I was glad to see (and feel) it vacate by game time yesterday.

Those long barre classes are way too long for me!

I love how passionate you are about the weighted vest! And that you inspired people in your run group to use one! Good reminder from the fortune cookie!

you know I am really enjoying walking with it. I definitely can see you liking it as well

I envy you a little for the summer thunderstormsS, but I know they are also responsible for the high humidity where you live. It’s a double-edged sword!

it is a double edged sword for sure

I guess I get the same feeling as a weighted vest when I run commute with a full backpack! It gets quite sweaty 🙂 Well done!

I’m sure you are ready for some fall temps!

Yes I am sure you do! I don’t think I will try to run with one on
