Traveling this holiday season? Staying fit and active while traveling for the holidays is easy if you plan ahead. Here are my best tips on how to keep up your excellent exercise and fitness habits.
staying active and fit while traveling
Keeping up your fitness and activity while traveling for the holidays might be easier than you think. These are my best tips.
Airport walks
It all starts at the airport (or train station). After clearing security, I pop on my headphones and a Peloton walking class and take a stroll. Getting in even a 10-15 minute walk before boarding a flight can do wonders for your mood and your body.

Jump into a local holiday race
This time of the year, there are a bunch of local holiday themed 5k’s and other holiday events that require sneaky walking. They are typically low key, family friendly and full of festivities.
Try something new
Winter activities can be lots of fun and active. Ice skating, snow tubing, snow shoeing for example. Don’t forget the hot chocolate! Headed somewhere warm? Walks on the beach, cycling, and hiking may be your jam.
Join a city tour
City a city by foot is my favorite way to stay active while traveling. Even if you have been to a city before, it’s fun hop into a run tour, walking tour or themed tour. We loved our NYC pizza tour.
Gym Day Passes
If you are more of an indoors person, no worries. Most gyms will offer a daily or weekly pass so you can keep up your favorite activities.

In short, traveling during the holidays does not have to derail your fitness. Try new activities, take advantage of local activities and events and always pack your running shoes. Happy Holidays and Merry Fitmas.

Excellent tips!
We go to a CrossFit here in Cape Town which is full of tourists that are passing through. It’s great fun to get to know people from all over the globe. We call it the United Nations gym!
Enjoy your time in Aruba!

For most of my trips I find that it’s pretty easy to stay active. As long as there is a hotel gym or a safe place to run then usually I will get in a workout. Airport walks are a great way to get moving and pass the time!

I love the airport walks to get steps in before flights. It’s kind of a joke in our family now that they expect me to be off and walking

i don’t travel too much over the holidays though I did visit my sister last week. My brother in law is a runner so it’s easy to stay active because I can run with him (and he’s nice enough to slow down for me). Also walks with my sister and the new baby were lots of fun.

It is always fun to run somewhere new

Airport walks are an easy way to get in a great cardio fix between flights. They’re also great for fast & furious power walks when your gate changes to a much further location. I always can find fitness opportunities while traveling, even if it’s just body weight strength Or calisthenics in a hotel room. No excuses!

LOL at airport walks! I’m such a nervous flyer that I get to the airport 2 hours before my flight, and then I park myself at the gate for the duration. I am a mess! But what a great way to get some steps!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, I highly recommend them!
