Thanks for joining Kim and me for the weekly run down. This week had me sidelined a bit with a little more rest than I had expected. Hello September it’s nice to see you!
Weekly Run Down Hello September
Sunday- extra rest day of sorts + 3 mile walk
I had a little too much champagne last night and stayed up way past my bed time. Sign of a great party I think! Anyway, I slept in and missed my window to run before it got too hot. Instead I went on a 3 mile walk and worked on cleaning up. It’s amazing how many glasses 7 people can use! After that, I read by the pool.
Monday-Peloton walk + upper & lower body strength + core + cycle
My Monday started off disastrous when my fave ceramic skillet cracked in half while I was cooking a frittata. The eggs from 8 eggs seeped into every crevice of our gas stovetop. Yep, that was fun.
Anyway, I felt a lot better after my 90 min of Peloton. It’s the little things!
Tuesday-4 ish mile run/walk intervals + stretch
Keeping up with my 4:1 intervals today. The 97% humidity did not help! Your an see how sweaty we are.
Wednesday- Peloton walk + core + barre + upper body strength
I was a little off schedule this morning as I had to do a fasting blood test. Why is fasting so hard?! LOL I made it through until my 10:15 appointment and then came home to get my workout done.
Later, I filmed my stretch of the day for this week. I really like this variation of the seated spinal twist with a bent leg. Do you do this stretch? Feels so good! IG has been giving me all sorts of trouble this week with audio issues. Ugh.
Thursday-unplanned rest day
I was able to get a last minute appointment with my Ortho “Dr.Feel Good” for that Glutes issue I mentioned. Yup, so my Gluteus Medius has some inflammation and weakness at some insertion part and there is some SI joint instability. So…7 shots of prolo therapy later, I hobbled out of the office. I will be sore for today and then I can slowly ease back into things. No running for a few days. Again.
Friday- 4 mile walk
I woke up feeling a little better in the glute area and not as sore as yesterday. It was a beautiful day and I enjoyed a 4 mile walk with a friend in the morning. I am following Dr’s orders and taking it easy. I read and relaxed by the pool in the afternoon.
Saturday- 3 mile walk + upper body
It was a beautiful morning today. I was kind of bummed I could not get out for a run but following Dr’s orders on letting my hip and glute heal.
Instead, we took a walk through the farmers’ market to grab up end of the summer corn. Then, I took a nice walk with my Peloton app to earn me my 12K badge.
While, I felt like I was kind of slacking this week, it was nice to hit that Peloton milestone. Hopefully, September will have me finishing the month stronger than I began it.

I feel you! The weather was so great this week, I really hated not to get those 3 runs in. Remains to be seen if I can squeeze them in next week; I don’t do well in the heat either!
I’m so sorry about your skillet & the mess. That is never fun. Cast iron doesn’t break. 🙂
Hope the shots do their trick & you’re back on track this coming week!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, me too thanks
Melissa says
why does it always seem that we can’t run only when the weather is perfect? I hope your hip and glute are feeling better soon!
Deborah Brooks says
I asked myself the same thing!
Darlene S. Cardillo says
Sorry for your off week. They happen.
Hope things improve and you’re back on track.
Deborah Brooks says
thanks me too
Wendy says
Sorry to hear about your posterior pain–I hope the prolo works well! I could use something like that in my foot. Although it is finally starting to feel better without any intervention, thankfully.
Have a great week! Fingers crossed for good results on the blood work.
Deborah Brooks says
I got great results with the bloodwork! New meds are working well. Annoying week all around. I know this one will be better w my mom and daughter
Debbie says
I’m so sorry that you had to miss running in the beautiful weather we’ve had these last few days. I hope the shots do the trick and you feel better when you start back running again. The weather’s going to be brutally hot this week. 🙁
Deborah Brooks says
yes, bad timing indeed!
Coco says
Yikes on the pan disaster — what happenned???
Let’s hope we both end the month running strong!
Deborah Brooks says
I do think September has to end better than it started!
Kimberly Hatting says
I hope all goes well with the glutes (and vicinity) issues. Well done on following doctor’s orders!! We have summer back in Iowa!!! I’m celebrating (mostly on my own, LOL) the return of the heat.
Deborah Brooks says
You enjoy that heat 🙂
Black Knight says
Sorry for your week off. I hope you get well soon and you can run again as you like.
97% of humidity is terrible. Here we had 80% for many days.
All the best.
Deborah Brooks says
It is terrible! I would rather have rain
Jenny says
Oh, that frittata thing sounds like a nightmare! What a way to start your week.
Glad you got those shots- that always helps you a lot. Of course, bummer that you couldn’t run for the rest of the week, but overall it should be a good thing. And congrats on the Peloton milestone! That must feel good.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, they do help me a lot so fingers crossed! Peloton milestones always feel good
San says
Oh no, what a mess. I am so sorry that your skillet cracked. What a bummer.
Stupid hip/glute. I am sorry you’re semi-sidelined again from running, but it’s best to heed your doctor’s advice. You don’t want to make things worse. At least you still got out there.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, it has seemed liked 2 steps forward, one step back lately. Thank goodness for Peloton!
Michelle says
Sorry you were sidelined but hopefully following the doc’s orders will pay off this week. Hope you have a good one!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks I am sure it will help 🙂
Susanne says
That sounds cruel too book you so late in the morning for a fasting blood test. I’m sorry to hear about your issues this week! Hope your glute and hip get better asap. Not fun getting such things when you’ve already been away from running because of your other health issues!
Yep, glasses easily pile up during a party night! When we attended online whiskey tastings during the pandemic the number of glasses could be overwhelming for just the two of us!
Deborah Brooks says
It was not my best week for sure! This week will be better-I have some time away w my mom and daughter
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
I hope the shots work their magic! I am still amazing at how much relief I got from just one manipulation treatment at PT. I wish my issues were all that easy to treat!
I can only imagine what a mess that was with the eggs. Bummer!!
Deborah Brooks says
Oh good glad that really helped you! Fingers crossed it will do it’s magic
Jenn says
Sorry it was a rough week.
We had an egg tragedy this week – there’s this awful trend on TikTok where parents crack eggs on their kids’ heads, and A and i were talking about it and how I would never do that to him. I was holding an egg and he went to say goodbye to me and we collided just right (or wrong) and SPLAT.
I hope you start feeling better soon. We all need some wins.
Deborah Brooks says
Oh my I would not like an egg on my head!
Liz Dexter says
Poor old glute but good you could get some treatment. We had 93% humidity for our run this morning and I did enjoy it weirdly but my Garmin app has shown I am still physiologically stressed where normally I recover quickly. Still a good run is a good run, right?!
Deborah Brooks says
yes definitely!
Cari says
Oh no on the egg clean up. That was a very Monday. Glad you were able to get into Dr. Feel Good.
