5 Things I love about running 🏃‍♀️

My top 5 tings I love about running. Not necessarily in this order. 😜 As an addendum to my How Running is like the best boyfriend post, here goes!

the friends

As I have chatted about so many times, running opened up a whole new world of friendships and social life I never expected. I have no idea what I did for fun before starting my MRTT group and meeting so many new fabulous ladies. Running has also brought so many friends into my life from this blog and social media. Hi 👋 all of you! I have found my forever friends and I am so very lucky!

the races

I didn’t start running to run races, but well, you know how that goes! I’ve come to really love the training and discipline that running races brings. Add in a racecation and it’s even better!

Exploring by foot

We love to travel and the best way to see any new city is on foot. As soon as we book a vacation, I immediately scope out local running routes or running tours. I’ve been very lucky to have had so many great running + traveling experiences.

The health benefits

It’s hard to beat the cardiovascular health benefits of running not to mention the bone strengthening benefits. My doctor has told me he loves to do EKG exams on runners because they are in such great shape. Running is a fabulous calorie burn and endorphin rush. I could go on and on! PS no running is not bad for your knees.

Running makes me feel young, invincible, alive, accomplished, strong and powerful just to name a few.

All the running 🏃‍♀️ gear

Can you really have too much running related gear? (Rhetorical question, no need to answer) I’ve been lucky enough to work with Brooks running for 4 years which helped me to build my collection of shoes and gear.

These are my top 5 things to love 💕 about running 🏃‍♀️. Happy almost Valentine’s Day.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

Ha ha, glad you pointed out that running is not bad for your knees! Where in the world did that myth come from, anyway? Yes, I agree with all of these! It’s hard to narrow down just five things to love about running, but you did a good job.
