I am not a New Year’s Resolution girl for many of the reasons I stated here last year however I do like to think about small ways that I can enhance my health on a daily basis. I’ve compiled a quick and easy list of 17 ways to start off 2017 on a healthier note. Many of them I already do and many I am going to try to do more myself in the coming year.
17 Ways to Start Off 2017 on a Healthier Note
-
Meal Plan
-
Get more Sleep
-
Schedule Workouts in your weekly calendar
-
Try a new exercise class or activity
-
Set smaller more achievable goals
-
Go Meatless 1 or more days per week
-
Take walk breaks throughout the day
-
Schedule some “me time” each week
-
Do more of what makes you happy
-
Get rid of negativity in your life
-
Stretch everyday
-
Cut yourself some slack
-
Learn the art of saying NO sometimes
-
Declutter a closet or drawer
-
Eat the rainbow
-
Try meditation
-
Say something positive to yourself every night before bed
Those are a few of the small things I will be trying to do in the coming year. Some of them come very easily to me such as eating the rainbow, going meatless and scheduling my workouts. Others are very challenging for me most notably #13, #17 #11 #10 #11.
How about you? How do you plan to start off 2017 on a healthier note?

These are all such great tips! Scheduling some me time each week is definitely one I need to be more intentional about!
It really does wonders!
Great ideas- especially the last one! I like to think of the new year as a chance to reset, and this list has some nice, simple ways to refocus!
I love these tips and I also love your attitude! Happy Holidays, Deborah!
Thanks so much Happy holidays to you too!
My biggest goal for 2017 is to let go of expectations. I think you know me well enough to realize what a challenge this will be. But I have to accept what I can do, not beat myself up for “failing”. Yikes! But if I can do this, everything else will fall into place.
That is a tough one for sure. But yes I agree everything else will fall into place. I’m betting on you
These are great!
I will start off 2017 with a New Years /Birthday 5k …my gift to myself 😉
I need to work on 2,5,6, 12…thanks for the reminder 😉
Happy birthday sounds like a great way to start the year
Number 2 would be at the top of my list! And I could start by decluttering a drawer and move on to my whole house! 😃 Great, achievable ideas! Thanks for linking up!
I decluttered lots of drawers when we moved in October it felt so good
#14 reminds me of something I need to do this morning (not so much the decluttering, although there’s definitely that, but something I need to do in the room that needs to be decluttered!).
Really great tips, Deborah.
Glad to help! Have a great day😄
This is a great list! I know I need to have more “me time”, walk more, and get my meal planning together!
Me time is so important and I’d like to do better at meal planning too
Love these! I will be training for a race, the furthest I have ran 10 miles so I know I will need to switch up my workouts in 2017!
Look forward to reading all about it!
Great list and I love each point here! I want to start off each morning being grateful and taking some quiet time to myself and journal.
I love that idea too! I don’t have too much time in the morning but I could do that at night. Happy Holidays
Those are all great little goals to work towards. Daily stretching is one I need to be better at.
I was so good for a while and I got complacent
This is a great list. Thank you! It also shows how every little thing you do matters….and you can’t do everything. Happy New Year!
You cannot do everything but you can do some of the things all the time
Getting rid of the negativity in life has been my #1 priority over the past year and is one of the big reasons we moved to Austin. I hope to carry that through to 2017!
I’ve been working on that one a lot and it makes a huge difference for me
All great tips Deborah! I think de-cluttering is going to be a goal of mine. Eat the rainbow? This made me smile Ha !
De cluttering is not easy but feels so good!
I’ve found it incredibly hard to say no, and I know plenty of women that struggle with it as well. But it’s so important to just say no sometimes. Try as we might, we can’t do it all. And if we try to, we’ll burn out.
It’s so hard to say no! When I take on too much I just end up not doing anything well
I love that these are all small things that we can manageable do and conquer in the new year! Great list!
Yes small things definitely make a difference
More sleep. That needs to happen STAT!
Good luck!
I love all of these tips!!! self- care is so important, esp. over this time of the year!!
Thanks sure is!
Great ideas! Stretching every day makes a huge difference in how I feel 🙂
Me too if I can just remember to do it!
Learn to breathe and take delight in the current moment. Right now. You will never have it again. 😀
So true!!
I love your ideas, Deborah! Happy holidays!
Thanks so much! Hope they work for you
YES!! Such great tips!
I need to get more sleep!
Tried a new class almost 3 weeks ago and I’m hooked, my 1 year unlimted barre membership starts in January when my month of umlimited ends!
I need to schedule more me time!
Definitely need to do more of what makes you happy and get rid of negativity in my life.
Learning to say NO is huge for me!
Sounds like you are already doing lots of these. That is a lot of Barre classes 🙂
I always love do more of what makes you happy! So many great tips to start the New Year off right!
That is one of my favorite ones!
All great tips! One of my goals in 2017 is getting more sleep. I need to start to “unplug” earlier at night.
Yes so do I!
Nice well rounded list. I could stand to do more of a few of them. Including getting rid of negativity and saying something positive to myself. Days can be rough with 3 toddlers in the house. :0
I’ve really been working on getting rid of negativity and distancing myself from people who bring it. Makes a world of difference
SO many awesome ideas here 😉 Something I’ve been doing this month is to have 20 minutes of cardio activity every day. My running has been minimal, but I think the daily heart-pumping has been a good way to keep some of my marathon training momentum in tact. That’s something I’m going to try to continue doing in 2017 😉
I completely agree. I am taking a few weeks off of running and recharging a bit. The cardio everyday has been great for me too
I don’t love resolutions either, but what a great time to refresh our goals! Those are some great tips to remember!
Yes definitely!
Yes to the whole list! Especially cut yourself some slack.
That is an important one I am working on it
I really never ever make New Year’s Resolution Deborah but Meal Prepping is on my list!!! I think it can be super helpful to organize your day!
Yes for sure I am trying to do better with it as well.
Such a great list! I especially like #17.
Enjoy the holidays!!
Thanks you too! Merry Christmas
These are great ideas. I’m getting better at #12. Happy holidays!!
Thanks Merry Christmas and hope to see you soon for a yoga date
These tips are great. Thank you!
I think that getting rid of negative energy is the hardest one.. It;s just everywhere around..
It really can be difficult but can be done!
