About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

My biggest goal for 2017 is to let go of expectations. I think you know me well enough to realize what a challenge this will be. But I have to accept what I can do, not beat myself up for “failing”. Yikes! But if I can do this, everything else will fall into place.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/21/2016 at 3:36 pm

That is a tough one for sure. But yes I agree everything else will fall into place. I’m betting on you

#14 reminds me of something I need to do this morning (not so much the decluttering, although there’s definitely that, but something I need to do in the room that needs to be decluttered!).

    Really great tips, Deborah.

    12/21/2016 at 1:41 pm

I’ve found it incredibly hard to say no, and I know plenty of women that struggle with it as well. But it’s so important to just say no sometimes. Try as we might, we can’t do it all. And if we try to, we’ll burn out.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/21/2016 at 3:45 pm

It’s so hard to say no! When I take on too much I just end up not doing anything well

Nice well rounded list. I could stand to do more of a few of them. Including getting rid of negativity and saying something positive to myself. Days can be rough with 3 toddlers in the house. :0

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/22/2016 at 4:51 pm

I’ve really been working on getting rid of negativity and distancing myself from people who bring it. Makes a world of difference

  26. Kimberly Hatting says

    12/22/2016 at 12:27 am

SO many awesome ideas here 😉 Something I’ve been doing this month is to have 20 minutes of cardio activity every day. My running has been minimal, but I think the daily heart-pumping has been a good way to keep some of my marathon training momentum in tact. That’s something I’m going to try to continue doing in 2017 😉

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/22/2016 at 4:52 pm

I completely agree. I am taking a few weeks off of running and recharging a bit. The cardio everyday has been great for me too

  27. Michelle @ Fruition Fitness says

    12/22/2016 at 5:08 am

I don’t love resolutions either, but what a great time to refresh our goals! Those are some great tips to remember!

      Yes definitely!

  28. jill conyers says

Yes to the whole list! Especially cut yourself some slack.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/22/2016 at 5:02 pm

That is an important one I am working on it

  29. Ilka says

    12/22/2016 at 10:57 am

I really never ever make New Year’s Resolution Deborah but Meal Prepping is on my list!!! I think it can be super helpful to organize your day!

    • Deborah Brooks says

Yes for sure I am trying to do better with it as well.
