Thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down. You too can experience every season in one week if you live in Virginia. It’s been interesting! Here’s a peek into my week of fitness.
Every season in one week
Sunday- Tread walk + core + bike warm up + 4+ mile run
We pushed our run back to the afternoon given that the wind chill was not to our liking and it was getting icy. I did a morning walk and core and later met up with the squad for a few miles. We stuck to the bike lanes and side roads that were clear. I had no idea how to dress for the 25 mph wind gusts. Well, the sun was shining at least!
Monday-Peloton tread walk & cycle warmup + upper & lower body strength + core + afternoon walk w a friend
It always feels good to hit it hard on a Monday! A little bit of everything in my stack today. We had a little warm up so we ventured back out for an afternoon coffee walk with a friend. 30 degrees was feeling warm!
Tuesday- 5.25 ish mile run + core + stretch
We found a freshly plowed trail to run on today which gave us beautiful views of the melting snow and safe passage. This is most likely our last snow covered run in a while. It was about 30 degrees when we started and warmed up as we ran. Our main running trail is actually an old railroad line and you can still see some historical markers from that time.
Wednesday-Peloton walk + barre + upper & lower body strength + core
It was gloomy but oddly warm today and all the snow is melting fast. I felt strong today with my workouts and hit it hard in the gym. I’m sure I will feel it tomorrow. Also, I spent way too long trying to time a silly reel and just gave up so no photo-ha.So I will share a photo of last night’s chili garlic tofu power bowl.
Thursday-4.25 miles + core + stretch
Today, it was spring in Virginia. A rainy front moved in and brought crazy warm temps in the mid 50’s. That had me running in shorts in January 2 days after I was dodging snow on Tuesday’s run.
Later, I headed to get a DEXA and body composition test. More on this experience coming soon.
Friday-Peloton walk + upper body strength & core + Peloton cycle
My favorite class of the week was a Pink themed cycle class with Robin that had me singing out loud. She talked a lot about setbacks and comebacks which had me tearing up a few times (in a good way).
Our weather continues to be nuts and it was actually 70 degrees for a few hours today. I had to get out for another Peloton walk just to take it in.
Saturday- Rest Day
I slept late, had lots of coffee and enjoyed a Peloton stretch and foam roll. Later, we met some friends for dinner It’s very fall like today with a cold rain about to move in.
Yes you can have every season in one week!

We say that a lot in the spring here in Chicago! Right now though, it’s just gross, gray, and drizzly. I’m just glad to be out of that bitter cold! It looks like you had a great week! Your tofu power bowl looks yummy. I’m looking forward to hearing about your DEXA scan–i had one of those body composition scans a few years go and it was fascinating!
Deborah Brooks says
I did have a pretty good week-no complaints. More on the scan coming soon
Melissa says
oooh a Dexa scan! I can’t wait to hear how that goes — those are fascinating. we had snow, ice and rain this week — my birthday it was so icy I didn’t leave the house in the morning because there were so many accidents that the school bus just didn’t show up and daycare didn’t open until later!
Deborah Brooks says
I sure don’t miss those unpredictable morning with young kids!
Coco says
It was weather whiplash this week for sure! Any balmyness is gone now — that cold rain is giving us a taste of March!
Can’t wait to hear about your Dexxa scan.
I’ve got Robin’s ride in my line up for this week!
Deborah Brooks says
It was definitely back to winter this morning with the cold rain. The scan was interesting more to come soon
Jessie says
I did a DEXA scan a few years ago- I found it really interesting!
Glad you had a day of spring again- definitely all seasons in one week!
Looking strong Deb!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks Jessie trying to build back slowly but surely
Melodie says
We had spring like weather this week as well! The trail you guys ran on looks so pretty. That tofu looks so good! I may have to try cooking it that way. I have tried cooking tofu a few times but have yet to find a recipe I love. I am going to look into the ride you shared!
Deborah Brooks says
Oh yes, highly recommend Robin’s Pink ride it was so good! Our trail is great and I am glad to have it back this week

Well, we didn’t get all four seasons this week, but we did have Winter (frozen streets), Spring (snow melting everywhere), and Fall (cold rain and fog). I’d LOVE me some SUMMER!!! Great job with all your workouts this week!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks working hard at it.Hope the sun comes your way
Jenny says
Sounds like you had a great week! We had a return to summer (which in Florida isn’t a good thing) but it’s supposed to cool down again next week. I say, keep the cold temps coming! (sorry, northerners.)
I’ll be interested to hear about the DEXA scan!
Deborah Brooks says
The cooler temps are so much nice to run in! Hope they come your way this week
Debbie says
Is the DEXA scan the same that they have us old ladies do every few years? I know a body composition isn’t part of that, but I’m curious if the bone scan is the same.
Susanne says
Sounds like a lovely week with all that cutesy spring weather coming on! How lovely to run on actual road after some snowfalls. It truly looks like you had an Irish weather week. For us we’ve had two storms in a week but also some very nice days! I’m very ready for spring now.
Deborah Brooks says
It sure is nice to get our trails back after a wacky week!
Cari says
Loved your reel about the DEXA and eager to read more. Those awesome sign crossings are fun. I love running the rail trail at mom’s
Deborah Brooks says
the trail is fun and I love the old signs too
San says
That sounds like a “crazy” week, Deb. Snow and then warm temps that made you run in shorts LOL (it’s been pretty warm here this weekend, too, but we didn’t have snow last week).
I took Robin’s P!NK Class on Friday and thought it was so good!
San says
Did the link up end early? It’s Sunday 10 PST and I cannot submit my link anymore.
Deborah Brooks says
It was so good! I had not taken one of hers in a while
Black Knight says
Here we had spring and winter in the same week: crazy weather.
I got a DEXA for the first time last year and it was not good: I was at the limit with 31%.
I will repeat the exam in march.
Enjoy your runs.
Deborah Brooks says
Weather was crazy and now back to winter!
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
It’s true, we really have had all the seasons this past week LOL! I definitely prefer us getting back to regular temps, even though the snow can be so pretty!
Looks like you had a very active week! I need to try to get out with others for a run soon. I’ve been very unstructured lately but I don’t think I’ll be able to keep that going much longer! Thanks for hosting!
Deborah Brooks says
I am definitely a person who thrives on structure so I like programs to follow. Yes, having the weather back to our normal winter is better for me too
Jenn says
All the seasons in a week themes to be the theme in blog world.
I upped the ante by traveling south and getting some of their weather, too!
Deborah Brooks says
It was a wacky one! We are back to regular winter this week 🙂
Darlene S Cardillo says
it seems we have all had crazy weather this year so far… no spring temps here but very cold, to cloudy and rainy and snow… you never know what to wear.
Deborah Brooks says
It is a challenge!
