I am on a quest to tell you about new exciting products that I discover and this is a cool one. What is the “Undress”?
In my interview with Justine Dolorfino, Marketing Manager for The Undress, she describes it as “a fashionable and functional mobile changing room”. The easiest way to describe it is to show you:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dy-Mjp2Hh7k
1. Who invented the “Undress”?
Dennis and April, the founders of the “Undress” are endurance sports enthusiasts in San Diego, CA. Their team includes runner, yogis, triathletes & cyclists.
2. How did they come up with this idea and why?
During an evening group run, Dennis realized that women were inconveniently changing in their cars, behind towels, or in bushes before and after a run due to a lack of facilities available at their run meet up. Dennis immediately thought, “There must be a better way!”
3. Who is your target customer for the Undress?
A woman who takes care of herself and has pride in her personal, professional, athletic accomplishments. She’s on the go and is looking for a product that can be a daily partner in her active lifestyle.
4. Why do we need an “Undress”?
If you’re always moving from appointment to work or your kids’ schools to the gym to your favorite running path-The Undress is here.
If you’ve ever thought, I could fit in a run after work but don’t have a safe place to change-The Undress is here.
The Undress gives convenience, flexibility, security, and peace of mind to women who want to have it all-not bare it all.
5. When and where will it be available?
Now that the Kickstarter campaign has ended, The Undress will be available from their website. You can add your name and email to their wait list and they will let you know when it comes in. According to the site, there are currently 5 color choices and the Undress sells for $75.
(All info above was provided by Undress via Justine Dolorfino)
As of yet, I have not been able to test out the product myself to give you my honest opinion on the practicality of it. I like the idea of it and I could see the women in my running group using it before and after group runs. I also think it would be great at a race and especially on a relay race like Ragnar.
I’d love the opportunity to try one out myself when they are available to the public.
So what do you think about the Undress? Would you buy one? When would you use it?
GiGi Eats says
Ah ha ha ha this is me like every single day!!!
Deborah Brooks says
I know right?! I think we all have some version of this
Eli says
I’ve ordered and paid for my UNDRESS 8 months ago and haven’t seen it yet … Now I’m in a fight with them as their updates are lies … and I’ve sent a letter of demand – now they are trying to make an angry customer look bad! MAJOR DISLIKE!!! Idea is great but they shouldn’t advertise and take money if they WILL NOT deliver!! I have all my communications with them making all of these promises!!! Sick of it!
Deborah Brooks says
oh wow that’s terrible! I hope you get it figured out. I’ve not actually ever received one either. I would like to try it someday.
Julie @ Running in a Skirt says
Awesome! What a great idea.
Deborah Brooks says
It is a cool invention huh?
Annmarie says
This definitely would have been useful during Ragnar! I’m pretty sure I mooned half of the parking lot 😉
Deborah Brooks says
I think I did too and didn’t even care 🙂
Mary says
This is the coolest thing to come around since the flip belt. Thanks for introducing us to it!
Deborah Brooks says
It is a neat idea huh? I would love to try it myself
Toni @runninglovingliving says
It’s a cute product, I considered funding the kickstarter and then debated if I would actually use it. I might buy one when they become available.
Deborah Brooks says
I’d like to try it in person when it is available-fun idea for sure
HoHo Runs says
What will they think of next? I probably couldn’t walk around in it because of the halter type top. Too old! But it is a very innovative idea.
Deborah Brooks says
I don’t think it is meant to be walked around in just for changing clothes. Looks cool though
HoHo Runs says
OH! Looks like a sundress to me. Ha!!
Sharon says
Okay, now that’s cool. Although I must admit I’m already pretty proficient at changing my clothes in the car. It’s sort of a party trick. 😀
Deborah Brooks says
Ha ha I bet! I think I flashed a van full of people at Ragnar 🙂
Susie @ SuzLyfe says
Orange mud make a wrap like this for changing in the car, but this is way more chic. I would probably still wear it as an actual dress, haha.
Deborah Brooks says
Well then you would always be ready for anything-LOL
Earl-Leigh says
Great idea! I’m sure the people at my local grocery stores would buy one for me. LOL. No more sweaty mess shopping!
Deborah Brooks says
All kinds of uses for sure!!
Elle says
A neat idea for sure. I would have no need of one, now, but in the past, yes, for sure!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes great idea!
Sandra Laflamme says
Wow ! this is clever! Changing out of a sports bra in your car is the absolute worst. This would be great in the summer!
Deborah Brooks says
It sure is hard to get those babies off in the summer!
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
I heard about this recently and it is SO cool, I love the concept!! I love that it’s reversible too…seems like a great new company!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes could certainly be handy!
Lacey@fairytalesandfitness says
What a creative idea. These dresses look so cute that I’d like to wear that instead of the clothes I would bring to change into it.
Deborah Brooks says
Ha there’s that too I guess!
Heather @ FITaspire says
Interesting concept. I typically change in the backseat of my car, which isn’t really an issue for me. I wonder how this works practically, would be interesting to see!
Deborah Brooks says
I’d like to try it in person myself-cool concept though
Diatta @ Femme Fitale Fit Club says
I recently heard of this and it reminds me of a guy who used to change his clothes in a colored body tent in the office vs. the bathroom. It was the funniest looking thing but this definitely looks more classy than that. #wowlinkup
Deborah Brooks says
ha ha yes for sure!
Amanda H says
Wow this is a super cool idea! Thanks for sharing 🙂 #wowlinkup
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks for stopping by!
Mary Beth Jackson says
I think I saw this on TV recently. I am not sure if I would spend $75 on one though. I have been known to change tops and things while driving down the road and at traffic lights! Watch out Central Florida! I hope you can get one to try out and let us know what you think 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
Wow that must be interesting!
Sherry says
I think that’s an awesome concept! I don’t know if I’d actually buy it though since it seems a bit pricey and I don’t need to change my clothes fast in public places. #wowlinkup
Deborah Brooks says
It is a great concept and I think lots of women have found themselves in that type of situation
Rachel says
I have seen this from friends who have shared theri link with me on my fb page! Ha! Perhaps they are trying to encourage me to NOT wear my stinky/wet workout clothes all day 😉
Deborah Brooks says
ha ha perhaps so!
Laura@ Fit Running Mama says
What a cool and neat product!
Deborah Brooks says
It would be useful for some of those crazy mom days!
Janice - The Fitness Cheerleader says
This is awesome! Myself and my 3 daughters often find ourselves changing from softball, races, soccer, swimming etc & this would REALLY come in handy!
Deborah Brooks says
I know it’s crazy sometimes trying to get it all done when there is not a place to change.
Jennifer @ Running on Lentils says
I recently heard about this. Great idea! And very cute & stylish too.
Sue @ This Mama Runs for Cupcakes says
I’ll be honest, I don’t think I would waste my money.
Deborah Brooks says
I’d like to test it out in person myself and see. It would have been great on Ragnar.
Michele @ A Pace of Balance says
I have seen this on Facebook before and thought it was a neat idea. I would have to see the dress in person. I don’t see myself “needing” this dress. I usually just throw clothes over my race outfit after a race and go home. I don’t find myself having to change in public a lot. BUT, the dresses do look cute, and maybe I’d just wear them about town with the option of having something to wear after a workout. #wowlinkup
Deborah Brooks says
I would like to see it in person too before making a final decision. I think it could be helpful in certain situations.
Nicole @ Fitful Focus says
How neat! What a great idea!!
Deborah Brooks says
It is kind of cool huh? Should have done it on Friday so I could post to your link up. I will think of something extra good for next week Black Friday!
Courtney @ Eat Pray Run DC says
i was pretty impressed but it’s quite expensive which is probably the reason i won’t try it…
Deborah Brooks says
It is a little $ I’d like to try it in person before I make a final judgement.
Sharon says
Wow this is amazing! Thanks for sharing! There have been many a times I’ve changed in my car and was always worried about someone seeing me. This would be perfect!
Deborah Brooks says
ha ha I think I flashed a bunch of people in a parking lot at Ragnar
Akaleistar says
Oh, very cool!
Deborah Brooks says
It is kind of intriguing huh?
Kristy @Runaway Bridal Planner says
I saw this on a facebook video a while back and I have to say the moment I saw it, I was like. I NEED IT! Love this, not only are they super cute maxi dresses, but genius idea for changing at anytime!!!!
Deborah Brooks says
It is a really creative idea!
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
I’m getting caught up on all my blogs! Anyways, I’m not so sure about this…it seems like a good idea but kind of pricey! I don’t change my clothes in public, so I don’t know if I’d use it.
Deborah Brooks says
It is a little pricey-I’d like to try it myself before making a call on it
The Frugal Exerciser says
If I were a triathlete I might think about buying it but I would not have a need for the outfit. Great idea for a specific group. #wowlinkup
Deborah Brooks says
It is a great idea and I’d like to try it in person before making a judgement on it myself. It is a little pricey
undressed out says
I am an early buyer….supported the kickstarter campaign….got the COUNTLESS update emails explaining why it was late, later than late, way way late. Then it arrived. It is a clever idea but has many design flaws: there are eight (EIGHT) labels on this dress…some are HUGE and the graphic design of the labels is ugly. (Sewing on 8 labels alone is reason for the delay). There is too much fabric, in my opinion. The shelf bra doesn’t do much of anything and the fabric is heavy. If you want this as a kind of “mobile changing room,” this is a lot to carry with you. Halfway through the production delays we were notified of a modified pocket design where the slots are for access to the inside. I can’t tell you how the original design was like, because I have a modified design. Not good. The modified pouches cause basically, unnecessary, non functional bulges of necessary fabric. These flaws should have been resolved before going into major production. I am now a little leery of going for a kickstarter ride like this again.
