You signed up, you trained, you ran and you got the Race T-shirt. Repeat a couple dozen times and you may have something that looks like this:
Where to store all of this? Are you really going to wear these shirts? All of my shirts have memories tied to them and I was reluctant to just give them away. First half, first tri, first relay etc. What’s a runner to do? Enter Project Repat
Preserve your race memories by turning your well earned shirts into a quilt that lasts forever. The process is simple and fast. Simply select your shirts, pick a size and send them off to Project Repat. There is very little prep involved. If your shirt only has writing on one side, no need to cut it at all. If your shirt has logos or writing on both sides, simple cut in half and only send the side you wish you use. Project Repat will size your shirts to fit your desired size quilt. Quilt sizes range from lap size to king size.
Use this guide to determine how many shirts or shirt sides are needed for your design.
You will have a choice of the fleece color on the back. (Magenta, black, navy, gray, lt blue or red) I chose magenta. I sent my precious tees in and excitedly waited for my quilt to arrive. The website says your quilt will arrive within 2-3 weeks. I received mine just over a week later and tada!
I received my full sized quilt free of charge in exchange for a review, however all opinions are my own. As you can see I am beyond thrilled with my quilt. I love the super soft fleece on the back. The quilt is very well made and I plan to be snuggling up with it for years to come.
The prices for the quilts range from $59 for the lap size to $239 for the King size. My readers can use code “MotherRunner” for 15%.
The possibilities are endless here really. Create a quilt with your Alma Mater gear, your kids old t shirts or your favorite sports teams. This makes a great holiday gift for any runner or athlete. Attention spouses: Gift cards are also available so you don’t have to decide which shirts to steal from your runner. Now how to keep mine away from the rest of the family?
Preserve those t shirts forever and stay warm-it’s a win win!!
What are you doing with all of your Race T-Shirts?
I’m so doing this! All of my race shirts are in a bin and drawer. I never wear them (they’re usually too big). Thanks!
I never wear them either and I love the quilt!
I’m doing something like this with my sorority shirts! I don’t have quite as many race shirts as you do, so I mainly wear mine at the moment!
I just saw one done with sorority shirts as well. Super cute
Good idea! Thankfully, my mother in law is a HUGE quilter….aka has the giant $30,000 machine in her basement, and she is busy making me one! Love that pic of you! That could be in a magazine for quilting! One happy customer!
haha! Oh lucky you-sewing is not one of my talents 🙂
I’ve donated a lot of my old shirts, but this is worth saving them up for!
I had been donating them as well but found 30 to use still. I’m so glad I love it!
I’ve been wanting to do this with both my college and running shirts. I like how they turned out!
It turned out fabulous I couldn’t be happier!
I’ve always wanted to do something like this! Have so many race t-shirts just hanging around taking up space. thanks for the link and review, it looks great!!
I’m really happy with how it came out! Thanks for stopping by 🙂
LOVE it! I’ve wanted to do the quilt thing with my race shirts for years. I’ll look into this company for sure! 🙂
It looks great and it is so much better than having them sit around in a drawer. Thanks for stopping by!
Such a great idea! I haven’t done too many races but will keep this in mind!
It’s a great idea for any shirts really! I’m so happy with it
So crazy…I had been sitting on my discount they gave me for a while to collect a few more shirts. Can’t wait to get mine back!
You are going to love it!
So cute and a great idea! I did this with my college sorority shirts… but never made it to the quilting process ;sigh:
I never could have done it myself. It’s a great idea!
That’s pretty cute. I only have a couple, and I do wear them.
It’s adorable. I never wore mine so it was perfect for me!
What a pretty cool way to preserve those race memories, I have to look into getting one!
It’s super cute and will last forever
Omg, I love this! Such a great idea!!!
I knew you would! Hope you get one
As soon as I earn my shirt from Vegas I am going to order one! Can’t wait!!!
You will love it I know! It’s so soft and warm
That is so cool!
Right now my old race shirts go to my daughter for sleep shirts. She loves the feel! However, eventually she may grow up enough to not want them anymore and this would be a wonderful way to re-use them!
Yes for sure! I bet she would like the blanket too
That is awesome!!! I have so many old shirts from races, now I know what to do with them! Thank you!!
I’m really happy with how it came out!
I actually organize races and have tons of old/leftover tees. Besides having our old ones on the wall in the office any idea what to do with 100’s?
Well you could wall paper your office wall with a bunch of quilts! How cool would that look? Thanks for stopping by 🙂
I wear mine around the house a bit but I am also saving them – my mother-in-law keeps trying to teach me to sew and I want to make a t-shirt quilt out of all of them as well 🙂
I have no talent in that area at all! Post a pic if you end up doing it.
This is such a cute idea! I also love it for college tshirts- I have so many from various events from being in college and now working at one- I would love to upcycle them like this! Thanks for the discount 😉
Those would look really cute too! The possibilities are endless really
Such a cool quilt. I have always considered doing that! The result looks awesome!
They look great I’m really happy to have it and happy to have more space in my drawers
I was juuuuust talking about doing this with a friend of mine! I don’t own a sewing machine (she does) so we were going to attempt. But this sounds like a much more foolproof way to go! Thanks for sharing. And awesome quilt. 🙂
I for one have not talent in that area what so ever so I would not attempt to do it. I’m so happy with the quilt and I know it will last forever. Thanks for visiting 🙂
This is a really cute idea. You can use it on a bed or hang it up on the wall as memoribilia from all the races. NICE!
absolutely! I love it!
I love this idea! I haven’t even been running that long and already have a big enough collection that I was wondering what to do with them. Do the shirts have to be cotton?
No they don’t have to be cotton. Half of mine were tech material. Those shirts do add up don’t they?
I kept mine in a drawer for years, but finally started donating them. We had a quilt like this made by a friend with high school swimming shirts (for Kirk) and I didn’t think it was really soft enough to use. I hope you find yours to be a perfect fit! 🙂
Really? This one has a fleece backing and is very soft and cuddly.
It’s actually the other side we didn’t like – the t-shirts have a lot of “stuff” on them and it makes the blanket stiffer than I would like. 🙂
hmm I don’t feel that’s an issue with this one.
so cute! after I collect a few more shirts, I’m definitely doing this!
Oh you should! I’m so happy with it 🙂
What a great idea. I have heard of this being done but never saw the final product. How cool!
It’s really great-I love it 🙂
I have a race quilt and love it!
They are so great aren’t they?
What a cool idea!! I usually just save them for bedtime shirts or give them to charity but if I ever compile enough, I’m definitely making one of these!
You may have to start doing some more races so you have enough to make a quilt 🙂
Haha true!!
I love it!!!!! I am organizing my shirts now! Quick ? Did you just use your 100$ cotton shirts? Not the nice dry tech shirts correct?
HI I used a combo of both types of shirts. I don’t think it matters at all. You are going to love it!
What a great way to decorate with tees!
Isn’t it? I love it!
When I first started racing in all the states I never thought about how many shirts would accumulate. But eventually I decided to do just this, and when I am done, I am going to make a quilt with all the shirts too:) I never knew there were companies that could do this for you. But if I get to that point, and probably because I know how to do it because I’ve done many patch quilts in the past, I’ll probably make my own:) However, this is great to know that if life gets too busy there is a place out there to send the to do it for me:)
I am not a do it myself kind of girl so this is perfect for me!
Great idea! I could do it with my many race shirts that are either too big or too small. And as you know from reading my throwback recaps, I still have many of my shirts from as far back as 15 years ago! They’re just sitting in a drawer taking up space.
oh yes you would love it! Go for it
I LOVE it!! What size did you get and how many race shirts did you actually send off? It looks so cute 🙂
I got the full and I sent 30 sides of shirts. Some shirts I wanted to use both sides of so I cut them in half and sent both. I really love it
