This week totally flew by for me and it was a busy one! With the Cherry Blossom 10 miler less than 3 weeks away, this week is our Peak Cherry Blossom Training Week. I have been sticking to my training plan and feeling pretty good-knock on wood. Here’s a short recap of my week in training. Just found out that Garmin is now an official sponsor of the race so I should have some more fun stuff to share on that front soon.
Peak Cherry Blossom Training Week
Sunday- long run day 9 miles
Tough wake up over here after Daylight savings time! Why does one hour just feel like so much? Feeling surprisingly good out there with my crew. It helps that so many of us are training for the same race and using the same training plan.
Monday- 15 min elliptical + 60 strength training + Vinyasa yoga 60 m
Did mostly upper body today because of yesterday’s longer run.
Tuesday- 5 mile run
It was another crazy windy day out there which made it feel a lot colder. We did manage to find a few Cherry Blossoms starting to bloom.
Wednesday- 15 min elliptical + 90 kickboxing and strength training
Challenging workout today! My legs were shaking to stay in this position. Truth be told, I had a few falls before finally getting it
Thursday- 4 mile run + 60 min restorative yoga
That March wind was at it again but thankfully I had a lot of ladies with me to distract us. I fell asleep for a few minutes during the legs up the wall portion of yoga class. Oops!
Friday- 60 m Vinyasa yoga class
Feeling like all of this yoga is really helping me to feel healthy and and strong. I am also thinking I might actually be improving my form a bit.
Saturday- Rest Day
I always get so antsy on rest days and have no idea what to do with myself! The hubs and I had a daytime movie date to see Red Sparrow.
Sunday- on the plan 10 mile run
10 miles on tap today. Will be the longest run I have done in a while. We have a fun route planned through the DC monuments ending up at a Bakery. Perfect way to end the Peak Cherry Blossom Training Week!
That’s a wrap on this busy Sunday. Tell me-ever fall asleep in yoga class? Plan your long runs to end up at a bakery?
Hope to see for tomorrow’s Meatless Monday (5 Layer Mediterranean March Madness Dip)
If you have a Cherry Blossom training recap link it up here

YOU have such awesome pics! I wish I lived in your area so I could knock out some of those long runs with you 😉 …and ending a 10-miler at a bakery? I’d SO be there!
Deborah Brooks says
Me too! I know we would have a blast running together. One day!! 🙂
HoHo Runs says
You look so strong balanced on that Bosu ball! Nice week of training. I hope the cherry blossoms will be at their peak for your race! Thanks for linking.
Deborah Brooks says
Ah thanks! Yes the Cherry Blossoms were delayed a bit so hopefully they will still be out there for the race. Some years they are gone!

Can’t wait to see the dip and I get antsy on rest days as well! I just don’t know what to do with myself and feel like my day hasn’t started without my morning workout.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes exactly! Crazy people we are 🙂
Sara says
Great job! You have been killing your training and I’m sure that you will have a great race! Can’t believe it’s only three weeks away. I haven’t fallen asleep in yoga but one time I was so wiped out and tired that I basically just stayed in child’s pose the whole class……that’s how you know you need a rest day hahah.
Deborah Brooks says
Indeed yes! I was kind of embarrassed but I guess I was not the first one to fall asleep
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Oh yes, we absolutely plan our long runs to end at a bakery sometimes. 🙂 And no, I’ve never fallen asleep in yoga class — not yet, anyway.
I think yoga always helps. Although right now my shoulder is complaining a little! I get that from yoga sometimes, but seriously? Make it stop!
Crazy windy here a lot, too.
Deborah Brooks says
Sometimes my wrists get sore with yoga I guess I displace my weight incorrectly at times. Very over the wind!
Wendy Rivard says
Looks like a great week! You’re really killing those Bosu workouts. I would love to run Cherry Blossom!
Have a great week!
Deborah Brooks says
Maybe next year for cherry blossom!?
Kim G says
Great job on rocking peak week! I always dread peak week but I’m so happy when it’s done!
I need to learn your Bosu tricks – you always look so balanced and strong!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks I do love my Bosu and there is so much you can do with it
Coco says
Oh, that tree looks so pretty! I hope there is still some pink on race day! I am so glad your training is going so well. How was Red Sparrow?
Deborah Brooks says
I hope we have some trees on race day too. They were not out today yet on the course. Red Sparrow was good but not great.
Lesley says
I haven’t fallen asleep during yoga, but I do yoga before bed so I can fall asleep after. It does a good job relaxing my mind, and it gets me away from social media.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes I totally agree!
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
Good for you getting the miles it! It was such a great day for it too. Can’t wait for that dip tomorrow… I think I could live on chips and various forms of dip. 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
well I think I could too!
Catherine says
Cherry blossoms are peeking through in our trees here in Washington. I love this time of year so much. I’m so ready for spring!
Deborah Brooks says
Bring on spring! Except we are getting snow tomorrow ugh
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
It looks like you had a great week of training! I sometimes fall asleep in final relaxation in yoga. Oops!
I am so over this wind! Spring, please come and don’t jump right into summer. I’m not ready to start complaining about the heat and humidity.
Deborah Brooks says
Oh no not ready for our crazy humidity just some moderate temps would be fabulous for a while
Becca | Rabbit Food Runner says
I’ve fallen asleep in yoga too haha. Sometimes savasana is just too comfy!
Deborah Brooks says
I know it’s so relaxing!
Stacey says
Great week! I always plan my more relaxed rides to and from a coffee shop, doughnut shop or bakery–it’s so much more fun that way! I’ve never fallen asleep in a yoga class but I have fallen asleep on my mat at home.
Deborah Brooks says
Falling asleep in yoga is a nice little power nap 🙂
Christine says
I would love to end my long runs at a bakery. I have ended them at coffee shops (which sometimes have baked goods) before. And no, I haven’t fallen asleep in yoga, but almost! Sometimes it’s just so relaxing!
Deborah Brooks says
Ending at a bakery is even better bc they have coffee too!
Nicola @ Running Happy says
That bosu ball hold looks really hard!
I’d love to do a cherry blossom race, the photos always look so lovely. I’ve not seen any in the UK.
I’m not sure I have fallen asleep during yoga but have come close if the class does an extended relaxation at the end. Especially when they turn the lights out!
Deborah Brooks says
yes the extended relaxation at the end does it to me everytime
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
You had an awesome week! Running with friends is the best, isn’t it? And I wish I could practice more yoga like you do, it definitely makes me feel stronger when I’m consistent!
I could not do what you are doing on that Bosu ball…I’m the worst when it comes to balance, so kudos!
Deborah Brooks says
Running with friends is the best! The yoga is really helping me right now
Lacey@fairytalesandfitness says
I get antsy on rest days too, and never really schedule them in. I just take off if I am not feeling it that day. How was Red Sparrow? I saw the previews and it looks good!
Deborah Brooks says
Red Sparrow was good I am huge Jennifer Lawrence fan!
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
So weird that this post didnt show up on Bloglovin until today! Ive ended up long run at a bagel/coffee shop which was great. I don’t think Ive ever fallen asleep during yoga because I get too nervous about it!
Deborah Brooks says
It was a first for me too but oh so relaxing!
