Weekly Wrap Making Great Strides

This week was sort of a turning point for me with my running. I am finally feeling like that annoying achilles strain is on it’s way out. Goodness knows I have nursed it the past few months like a needy baby! I am finally making great strides, adding back in the miles and feeling a bit more confident about my fall schedule.

Weekly Wrap Making Great Strides

Here’s a quick snap shot into my week.

Monday-30 min walk, 60 minutes strength training, Bend and Brew yoga event

In case you missed my review earlier in the week, Bend and Brew was a definite change of pace and super fun way to start off the week. Balancing beer and tree poses is not easy!

Bend and Brew| making strides

Tuesday- 5 mile run + first day of Girls on The Run coaching.

I did not know how I would feel after Saturday’s 7 miler, but was pleasantly surprised to find the 5 miles felt great. I was still using the 4:1 intervals. Perhaps running in the rain is good for me. Making great strides indeed! Organized chaos for the first day of GOTR. Thrilled about starting the new season with a new group of 70 girls.

making strides

Wednesday- 90 minutes strength training and kickboxing + 3 mile afternoon walk

Really working more on my form in my strength training workouts as well. I am feeling it a lot more. Making great strides there too. Nice hilly late afternoon walk with a friend.

Thursday- 5 mile run + Girls on The Run coaching

Upped my intervals to 5:1 and felt pretty good while continuing making great strides. Managed to find the last of the roses blooming for a quick photo.

Friday- rest day + physical therapy

Technically a rest day but  did go to physical therapy. She confirmed that yes I am making great strides. Apparently my form is looking much better and I’ve built up some more strength in my glutes. She is having me move my intervals up to 9:1 for this weekend’s Rock The Creek Relay on Sunday. A little nervous a little excited. Fingers crossed.

Saturday- Hot Yoga

Just what I needed today. Great stretch and nice food for thought from my instructor.

Sunday-Rock Creek Relay

Fall racing plan

Our team of 3 taking on a ~30 mile relay race. More to come later this week.

How was your week? Making any great strides of your own this week?

How exciting! I hope the relay went well and you were able to bump up to your 9:1 intervals with ease! Thanks for linking.
