Weekly Wrap Just Show Up

Time for another Weekly Wrap with Hoho and Wendy! This week was all about “showing up” for me. Starting to adapt to heat a bit more and accepting that it is going to be hotter. I am going to go slower and shorter and maybe need some more walk breaks. I am accepting that and I will just keep “showing up” for my runs.

Weekly Wrap Just Show Up

Monday-30 min elliptical + 60 m strength training + 2 mile walk

I was feeling full after dinner and did not just want to sit around. I could not convince my hubs to come with so solo evening walk it was. All great until the mosquitos feasted on me :).

Tuesday 5.5 mile run

Another hot and humid day out there. Had to take a few walk breaks but I managed to finish with a smile on my face. Just show up and get it done.

Weekly Wrap just show up

Wednesday- 30 min elliptical + 90 min strength training/kick boxing + 2 mile walk w friends

Finishing a sweaty gym day with some fun ball pikes. I had to do them a few times to get a good enough photo and my wrists were killing. Ha ha.

weekly wrap just show up

Thursday- 4.5 mile run + short swim

The heat and some calf tightness not a great combination. Just show up is my motto of the week and the summer.

Weekly Wrap just show up

Friday- Master swim class 1 hour

A gorgeous day to be in the pool. Tough class today! Trying to remember how to do backstroke for my cool down without bumping into anyone or anything.

weekly wrap just show up

Saturday- 7 mile run

The lower humidity and my just keep showing up attitude paid off! Finally, had a good run and built back my confidence for Chicago RnR next Weekend. I was seriously doubting my ability to be able to do the 5K and 10K until today. Running will do that to you huh!?

weekly wrap just show up

Sunday- on the plan 20 mile bike ride

Bloggers on Bikes! The start of my epic blogger meet up week! Biking with Deb and Coco. Stay tuned for photos.

I am happy to report that I am finally adapting to running in the heat. Just keep showing up! How was your week?

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

I’m convinced that 80% of summer running is just starting, especially on the really hot and humid days!

I had such a great time with you and Courtney this morning! Thanks for driving out my way for a ride.

When you posted that first picture to Instagram earlier this week I didn’t notice the women in the background looking completely pooped. Was she a plant to contrast the cute pose of you and your friend or did it just happen that way. Either way, I love it!

I am so glad that I SHOWED UP today! It was so much fun — thanks for inviting me. LOL on the extra reps needed to get a good photo — I’ve had a similar experience trying to get those plank shots.

I’m loving you summer motto! I’ve really struggled this summer. It’s hard to accept sometimes…especially when others don’t seem to be affected. But, you and I both know it won’t last forever. Right? I can’t wait to hear the detail of Bloggers on Bikes. Now that is something I could get excited about! Thanks for linking.

I love this mantra! Your Bosu Ball core work makes my abs hurt just looking at it haha. I’m going to be doing a lot of cross training and rehab in the next few weeks so I’ll have to use it

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/15/2018 at 8:45 pm

Let me know if you give it a try! I love all the Bosu moves they are super challenging

Love the motto to just keep showing up! You put in some serious miles this week – way to go! I feel like I’ve been having to do the same with the heat we’ve been getting & just kind of take it one workout at a time – sometimes one move haha I’ve also been making sure to switch it up and exercise a few days a week at a studio, a couple days a week at home early in the day before it gets hot, and going for walks with my pup when the sun isn’t at its strongest.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/16/2018 at 6:47 am

Mixing up the outdoor runs with the indoor ones certainly helps quite a bit! Have a good one

  12. Liz Dexter says

    07/16/2018 at 2:37 am

Just show up is a great mantra, thank you for sharing that! And I love that “Have a strong day” tee, too. A good week, well done. I have been avoiding the heat by running early but made myself face it yesterday in case my race in August is really hot. Argh.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/16/2018 at 6:48 am

I have been trying to run earlier too it helps a bit

  13. Lisa @ Mile by Mile says

    07/16/2018 at 5:18 am

Its all about just getting out there and doing what you can! Glad you had a better week of running. I hope things go well in Chicago!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/16/2018 at 6:49 am

      Thanks so much me too!

  14. Lacey@fairytalesandfitness says

    07/16/2018 at 8:09 am

That’s a good motto. I have been keeping up with my runs even in this heat. They have been much slower with more of a run/walk but that is fine by me. I am at least getting it done.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/16/2018 at 3:45 pm

Yes getting it done is key!

  15. Marcia says

    07/16/2018 at 8:39 am

You can SO do the 5k and 10K!!! No doubt! We’re going to have a blast and any and all paces!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/16/2018 at 3:48 pm

It’s going to be a blast so excited. Sounds like an epic group of ladies

  16. Lesley says

    07/16/2018 at 9:15 am

Showing up is most of it. Once I’m out there, I can get my mileage in. It’s getting out there that’s the trick. My brain keeps saying I have my treadmill, in a nice cool basement.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/16/2018 at 3:48 pm

      Well yes there’s that…

  17. Chaitali says

    07/16/2018 at 11:00 am

Just keep showing up is a great philosophy for the Summer! That’s pretty much what I’m doing too. I figure as long as I get the runs in, I’m not worrying too much about the pace in these conditions 🙂

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/16/2018 at 3:52 pm

Yes exactly! we just have to keep moving forward

  18. Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says

    07/16/2018 at 12:47 pm

Just show up is a good motto this summer! I’m getting used to being slower and ok with it when my runs don’t go as planned.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/16/2018 at 3:59 pm

Yes it’s hard to accept but I am getting there. Thanks for sharing

  19. Hannah says

    07/16/2018 at 7:44 pm

Sounds like a great week! Glad you are feeling more adapted to the heat.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      I am sure trying!

  20. Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
