It’s time for another Weekly Wrap with Hoho and Wendy. Our crazy up and down weather had me rearranging my schedule all week to maximize my time on my bike. My first Sprint Tri of the season is next weekend and I’ve been a little worried about getting in enough bike time. Turns out, it’s Just Like Riding A Bike.
Weekly Wrap Just Like Riding a Bike
Sunday- Yoga for hips and back workshop
A 2 hour yoga workshop where I was reminded of a few fabulous stretches for my hips. Always great to get a few more pro tips on posture as well.
Monday- 30m elliptical + 60 min strength training + 30 min bike ride
I took advantage of the sunny warm day and got in a quick outdoor bike ride post strength training. Feeling much better with remembering how the gears work. It always takes me a few weeks to back to speed on the gears. Turns out it’s just like riding a bike.
Tuesday- 4.2 mile run
Everyone is coming out now that the temps are up a bit. Love a big morning run group!
Wednesday- 90 min kickboxing & strength training
This week’s Workout Wednesday was an arm burner including a few minutes with my battle ropes. I bought these a few years ago on a huge Black Friday sales. Definitely fun to use from time to time.
Thursday- 4 mile run
We had a nice little head wind but the warmer temps had me feeling good today. We welcomed a few new MRTT members to the group.
Friday- Vinyasa yoga 60 m
I was supposed to swim today but woke up not feeling very “swimmy”. A rainy day kept me from another bike ride so I headed to Vinyasa yoga. Turns out it was just what I needed. Feeling pretty amazing afterwards.
Saturday- 40 min bike ride + 20 min run
I was stressing about Saturday’s “Brick” workout. I often feel like I have jelly legs when trying to run off of the bike. I don’t know if it was sleeping in and going a little later or eating lots of carbs the night before, but I felt better than I have in a long time. I had my fastest bike/run combo this year.
This was just the confidence boost I needed before next Sunday’s sprint tri. Maybe I should stress less and rest more. Turns out, maybe it is just like riding a bike.

That is one great week of Workouts Deborah. Your right back in the biking swing of things. I took my sister out on a leisurely bike ride yesterday, my legs are feeling it today!
Deborah Brooks says
It’s funny how different biking is on your body!
Wendy says
That’s how I felt last week when I got on my bike–it was “just like riding a bike”. LOL! It’s really something you never forget.
Nice week of training. I am kind of jealous of your home gym and your battle ropes!
Deborah Brooks says
It’s funny how biking really does come right back to you! It took me a few years to build up my home gym w all it’s goodies but I do love it
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says
Running without my Garmin gave me a confidence booster! I still managed to maintain sub 10 minute miles the entire run. It’s always nice to have something give you a confidence booster.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes sometimes I think my watch can do me in
AmyC says
I love that feeling after a good workout takes the worry away. Sounds like you are good to go for your sprint tri!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks I sure hope so!
HoHo Runs says
It looks like you had a beautiful spring week. I can’t believe your first Tri of the season is coming up! I think it bodes well that you had a great brick session this week. I’ve never felt good running off the bike and will admit I’ve never, ever felt swimmy. LOL. You’re are going to do great! Thanks for linking.
Deborah Brooks says
Sometimes it just all comes together! It usually does not happen on actual race day though lol
Kim G says
Awesome job this week!
So glad that you had such an awesome brick workout on Saturday. It’s great to get those confidence boosts workouts done, especially as race day gets closer!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes now to just figure out how to do it on race day!
Coco says
Hah! I’m sure less stress is always a good idea. I bet you are going to do great on your tri! I’m not sure I’d ever commit to a 2 hour yoga workshop, but it sounds like a good one.
Deborah Brooks says
I learned a lot! One of these days I will talk you into a tri
Becca | Rabbit Food Runner says
Whoa those battle ropes look intense!! I got a huge confidence boost sampling my energy bites at an event. I was worried people wouldn’t like them but they ate them up!
Deborah Brooks says
That’s great! Instant feedback (pun intended!) 🙂
Sara says
Glad you got a good workout in! I thought that it would all come back for you.
I’ve never used the battle ropes yet but want to try them for sure! I looked up a few ways to use them the other day.
Deborah Brooks says
yes they are really fun to use sometimes! I got a great deal on them one Black Friday sale
Lesley says
I had my fastest 6-mile run in a quite while. I felt good and strong, and if only I had all that space in a race. My 10ks are slower since I have to weave around people, and deal with bottlenecks on the course.
Deborah Brooks says
That’s great on the 6 miler! You know, I also have a hard time getting my best paces on a race course. Go figure!
Clarinda says
Less stress and more rest is always a good recipe. 🙂 Nice job on your brick yesterday and good luck next Sunday!
Deborah Brooks says
I agree! Thanks I am excited & nervous
Kimberly Hatting says
That’s a great analogy…just like riding a bike 😉 I don’t do much cycling, so it would be just like starting over for me…in fact, I have only been on my bike maybe once (??) since my surgery. It took awhile to get full range of motion back (necessary for a bike ride!), and then it got too cold….(excuses aplenty).
Deborah Brooks says
ha ha yes! I do really like biking in the summer time especially when it’s so hot
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
I’m so glad you had such a good brick workout. You’ve got this! Just think, a week from tonight you’ll have your first tri of the season behind you!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes I will! 🙂
Fairytales and Fitness says
I haven’t had my bike out yet this year. Good luck with your Tri next week Deborah!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks so much!
Hannah says
That yoga workshop sounds like it would be super helpful – I’m really enjoying hips & back yoga videos lately.
Deborah Brooks says
They really are helpful for refreshers and a place where I always feel like I could use a little more love
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
It sounds like you are well prepared for your tri! I bet if you rest a bit this week and stay positive you will do great.
Deborah Brooks says
I hope so! Thanks friend
Catherine says
I can’t believe the race is already next week! I can’t wait to hear about it. Do you have a lot of other tris planned for the summer?
Deborah Brooks says
I can’t believe it’s this weekend either!I have another one in June and looking at another in July. How about you?
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Definitely stress less & rest more! Sounds like you are ready.
2 hours of yoga, though. I can’t even imagine that much yoga!
Deborah Brooks says
It was a yoga workshop so some of it was a demo and instruction. It was interesting but maybe 15 min too long. Shh don’t tell I said that!
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
You had a great week of workouts! The warmer weather has definitely lifted my spirits!
I’ll say that PRing my marathon was a huge confidence boost for me this week! So grateful!
Deborah Brooks says
How fantastic! You have worked really hard these past few months
