Wow this week totally flew by for me! Glad to be back with my favorite bloggers for the Weekly Wrap. I really love having this virtual training log each week of all of my fitness efforts. After my break over the holidays, I was feeling well rested and ready to come at January full force. This week was all about Hitting it Hard.

Weekly Wrap Hitting It Hard

Sunday- 4.25 m run

We were not going to let those sub freezing temps keep us from our January welcome run and breakfast. I’ve pretty much decided that after running in these crazy temps the last week, I can run in anything.

Hitting it hard

That coffee tasted extra good!

Hitting it hard

Monday- 30 min elliptical + 60 m Strength training

I was feeling ready to make some changes in my workouts and upped the intensity of my strength training quite a bit this week. Feeling nice and sore all week which is good every now and then.

Tuesday-5 mile run

The sun was shining and it was a glorious 40 degrees! Exhilarating out there today!

hitting it hard

Wednesday-90 min strength training/kick boxing +30  min elliptical

Hardest workout day of the week. I now do my cardio in the morning and then see my trainer at noon for a longer strength training workout. I told him that I wanted new and harder things so that ‘s what I got! These wall sits with side raises were killer and my legs were shaking.

Hitting it hard

Thursday- 4 mile run

Blessed with another warmer weather day, we were ready to goof around a bit mid run. I am “running” out of ideas for original running photos. LOL

Hitting it hard

Friday-active rest day-45 min low intensity elliptical/stretching

Saturday- 60 min endurance spin class

Our MRTT group has a “spin” off group for those also interested in triathlon training. One of the local studios, Revolve, hosted a class for us. It was fun to meet some new faces and try a new class.

Hitting it hard

I missed my weekly yoga class and my swim class this week. Could not seem to fit it all in! I am pretty proud of my effort this week and definitely needed a week of hitting it hard. It feels good!

Goals for this coming week: make it to yoga and swim once each

Tell me-are you back on track after the holidays and snow days?

Sneak Peak for tomorrow’s Meatless Monday-Vegetable Enchilada Lasagna

I love the sore feeling after a good strength workout! I’m back on track after the below zero windchill and snow. Fingers crossed it doesn’t snow again this week like it’s supposed to!

      01/14/2018 at 2:03 pm

I hope so too for you! Have a great week

I agree, I love writing this virtual training log each week! I feel it really keeps me accountable, especially since I do most of my workouts alone.

    Have a great day!

Those wall sits look T.O.U.G.H. with the added raises! Holy cow! Both exercises are tough just on their own LOL

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/14/2018 at 2:14 pm

The wall sits kicked my butt! It had been a while since I had done them. Of course, that only makes me want to do them again this week 🙂

  6. Wendy says

    01/14/2018 at 2:46 pm

You did have a busy full week! That picture of you and your pals on the bench made me smile. You look like you have such a fun group!

  8. Marcia says

I am not back on track. I will say today’s CrossFit session went world’s better than last week so there’s that. MIL’s in town though. Need I say more? Haha!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/14/2018 at 6:18 pm

Nope no more needed to be said! Hope you have some wine handy! Just have her take care of your hubs

  9. Lacey@fairytalesandfitness says

    01/14/2018 at 6:35 pm

That’s a great move, the wall sit with the weights. I will have to give that exercise to some of my clients to do. I wish I had a group of ladies to work out with. You look like you are always having so much fun, well at least afterwards…..haha.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/14/2018 at 10:34 pm

Well yes always afterwards! Left me know if you give that move a try it’s a good one

  10. Sara says

    01/14/2018 at 7:18 pm

Great job staying active this week! I’m still in hibernation mode….and work has been busy but that’s just an excuse I use. This week I had an extra day off and I’ve taken advantage of getting workouts in all weekend!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/14/2018 at 10:34 pm

Fabulous! I have no doubt you will be back at it full force

  11. Coco says

    01/14/2018 at 7:22 pm

Yep, after running last week you’ve got no excuses no matter how cold it gets! I’m jealous of your warmer running days though.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/14/2018 at 10:37 pm

We did have a few in there. Now this week is looking messy ugh

  12. Clarinda says

    01/14/2018 at 8:03 pm

Great workouts! Side raises are really difficult for me. Way to combine them with a wall sit. I’d definitely be shaking all over after that!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/14/2018 at 10:38 pm

Feels good to push yourself like that sometimes doesn’t it?!

  13. Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says

    01/14/2018 at 8:13 pm

    Enchilada Lasagna sounds dang good!

I’m slowly getting back into things. This is the first week that I felt back to normal (for most of the week) in a really long time! Strength training has been lacking — but boy, trying to chisel the ice off the driveway — really, we’re basically have to wait for it to warm up, which thankfully it slowly will — my arms are sore!

Wall sits are hard enough without side raises!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/14/2018 at 10:39 pm

shoveling ice is no joke! Yes the wall sits were tough in a good way. Have a great week 🙂

  14. Catherine says

    01/15/2018 at 1:35 am

You killed it this week! Hooray for a warmer running day this week. I got one this weekend too and it was glorious to see blue sky again!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/15/2018 at 8:17 am

It sure was fabulous while it lasted!

  15. Lisa @ Mile by Mile says

I felt like I finally got back on track after the holidays and then I went away and now Im all thrown off again! (Im in Disney so doing lots of walking but no real workouts). That 90 minute strength training session sounds tough!

  16. AmyC says

    01/15/2018 at 7:22 am

Last week was on track for me after a busy couple of weeks with kids visiting. It felt really good too!

    I love your planking photo!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/15/2018 at 8:24 am

It sure does feel amazing to get back on track!

Great week of workouts – running in the cold really does something to you! The begnning is the worst, and once you do it once, I find it’s easier to tell yourself you can do it!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/15/2018 at 12:26 pm

Yes exactly! I have learned I am tougher than I thought I was

Holy cow! Wall sits are hard enough without side raises. Very impressive. You are always so creative with your pictures! I’m sure you’ll think of more very cool shots. PS…Love the SMDS Runner sweatshirt. Thanks for linking!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/15/2018 at 12:29 pm

I love the sweatshirt too! I keep stalking the site for more-like I really need it 🙂

  19. Judy says

    01/15/2018 at 10:28 am

Great job on getting out in the cold. I only venture out on days that are at least sunny with little wind. 🙂 I do a lot of my stuff indoors and just suffer through the boredom if needed.

I’ll keep an eye on your recipes for veggies! I definitely need more inspiration.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/15/2018 at 12:36 pm

I’ve learned, be careful when telling your trainer you want a challenge. They are usually more than willing to up the ante.

Wow — what an awesome week! I’m missing my strength classes at the gym. I have a visitor right now and it really threw a wrench in my workout plans. Luckily, we went on a few hikes, but I know I need to make my workouts a priority this week. It’s tough! Thanks for the motivation. 🙂

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/17/2018 at 10:36 am

You got it! A few days with friends won’t set you back too much.
