I am joining in with Wendy and Hoho for another weekly wrap! I love having a place to keep a virtual training log of all of my workouts to look back on as a way to connect with other like minded fitness friends. This week, I am finally feeling like I am back on track with workouts.
Weekly Wrap Back on Track
While I mentioned Friday, that I had some stressful challenges last week, my workouts were one of the only aspects that felt good. Making the initial swing from training for running races to training for triathlon races, is never as smooth as I expect it to be. This week, I finally feel back on track.
Sunday- First Brick Workout 12 miles bike + 2.5 mile run
This was way harder than I expected! The first few times I try to run off the bike are just brutal (and very slow). I was able to schedule it so I caught up with a friend for the run which always helps.
Monday- 30 min Elliptical + 60 min
Lots of upper body and core work today.
Tuesday- 4 mile run + 30 min yoga/stretch
Back to our fun shenanigans on the run! Getting tired of our winter clothes but I refuse to give in and wear gloves.
Wednesday- 5 mile bike ride + 90 min kickboxing/strength training
Took advantage of the nicer weather and added in a short bike ride before my normal strength training. Challenging but good!
Thursday- 4 mile run
Fun to run with Erika (MCM Mama) and catch up. Another weird day around here. Treated to warmer sunshine for the second half of our run after starting in the rain.
Friday- 60 min yoga class + 1625 m Swim
I was pretty stiff this morning and Vinyassa class was just what I needed. Totally got my butt kicked in swim class. I was huffing and puffing for sure. Thought about blowing it off but was so glad afterwards.
Saturday- 5k race + 10 mile bike
Had the rare opportunity to run a small 5k with my son. He plays lacrosse but really not a fan of running. We had the best time together and he certainly kept me at a faster pace than I would have run. I was trying so hard to keep up with all the boys. Feeling pretty good afterwards, I hopped on my bike for 10 miles. I realize I did them in the wrong order but still counting it as great tri training.
I was pretty much toast after those 2 events but I could not pass up a chance to get together with all the Cherry Blossom ambassadors for a race recap. Always fun to hang with my friend Coco.

Glad you are feeling back on track! All your bright outfits make it look so much more spring-like than it actually is! Although it’s nice that the weather is stating to improve (very slowly). How fun that you got to run a 5k with your sun!
Deborah Brooks says
I”ve decided that if I wear spring clothes everyday it will stay spring! It might work 🙂

I’m with you on refusing to wear gloves on runs now! It’s April, I shouldn’t need gloves.
How fun you got to run with your son! That’s a fun little event you took part in.
Deborah Brooks says
No gloves! 🙂 Yes we had a great time together thanks

It always takes me a week or 2 to transition into tri races. Things went way better this week

How fun that you ran that race with your son! You know I loved when my son ran with me in December! Idk if that will ever happen again.
Nice week of workouts! I rode my bike today for the first time this year and my quads were killing me. I can’t imagine running after that!
Deborah Brooks says
Those race memories with our boys are ones to treasure for sure! I am telling you, it’s really hard to run after biking 🙂
Coco says
You had a jam-packed week. I hope we are done with glove weather until …. November? Except cycling gloves of course! It was great seeing you and the other Cherry Blossom ambassadors yesterday – such a great group!
Deborah Brooks says
It was a really nice way to recap the race glad it worked out

Wow! That cherry tree is gorgeous. I’ve vowed to keep my bike on the trainer until after my marathon for fear of getting injured. LOL. So, I’ll be living through you with your Tri training for a few more weeks. How fun to be able to do a 5k with your son! Thanks for linking.
Deborah Brooks says
Ha ok I will try not to disappoint! Yes running with him was the highlight of my week for sure

I wasn’t a fan of running while playing soccer and lacrosse. Now I love it.

My legs always feel like jello when I go from bike to run but you make it seem effortless. Gives me hope! I love working out with the kiddos. So nice that your son ran a race with you even though he’s not a big runner…yet (crossing fingers) 😉
Deborah Brooks says
OH no so not effortless for me! I loved running with my son highlight of the week

OMG…Chocolate Cherry Expresso Oatmeal Bars????? Sold!
You are always so busy with all your fitness endeavors each week….I have a hard time believing the transition to tri training is difficult because you’re never sitting idle 😉 Great week!
Deborah Brooks says
Ha no I am ever idle but running off of the bike always takes some getting used to. I have no idea why it’s so hard!
Cari says
Oh that recipe sounds amazing. Do you follow The Foodie Runner? I love some of the ones she posts. I’m starting to finally believe in spring. Maybe?
