Weekly Wrap Father’s Day

Hello Sweaty Betties! Time to join in for another edition of the Weekly Wrap with Hoho, Tricia and this week’s guest host Tara. With my next tri race 4 weeks out, I am organizing my next few weeks to work on my weaknesses. Right now, that weakness is my bike run brick. I am planning to do one of those each week to get more used to running on heavy legs especially in the heat. Here’s how my week went down.

weekly wrap Father's Day

M-20m elliptical, 60 m strength training and 10 m bike ride.

Since my tri race is in mid July, I am expecting hot and humid temps and Monday’s bike ride in 93 degree heat was great practice. I felt fine on the bike but was completely wiped out the rest of the day.

T-  3 mile run + 30 m swim. Another hot and humid day so we cut our run to 3 miles. If you missed my favorite hot weather hack-I like to keep some icy towels in a ziploc to squeeze on my head post run. If you have not tried this yet, it’s a game changer.

Weekly Wrap Father's Day

W- 90 m of strength training & kick boxing. Finishing up with one of my fave moves push ups and planks on the Bosu.

Weekly wrap Father's Day

If you missed my Bosu Blast workout pin it now for later. It’s a great hit every muscle workout 🙂

Th- Bike + Run Brick Day (13 mile bike + 3 mile run)

Met my friend Lori for a bike run. The run is always hard post bike but it did not suck as much as usual so that’s a win.

Weekly Wrap Father's Day

Fr- Skipped my morning elliptical and headed straight to 1 hour swim class.

Snagged the very important pre class photo. The water felt amazing with all the heat and humidity we’ve been having. Happy to be seeing lots of improvement in my swim times this summer.

Friday Friend Day! The best place to be on this hazy, hot & humid day. Big smiles before we all got our butts kicked. Happy Friday! #swimgoals #sweatwithfriends #swimbikerun #swimming #mermaidparty #trigirls #tritraining #beatyesterday

Sat- 5 mile run

Mixed up our run route and ran into Georgetown. No joke the humidity was 90% when we left. This run ended in a well know bakery “Baked and Wired” where I had the most delicious and refreshing lemonade ever. It’s easy to take for granted all the beautiful places to run in DC. You can sort of make out the hazy Washington Monument back there.

Weekly Wrap Father's Day

We were so sweaty that we joked about the butt prints we left on the bench outside the bakery. Can’t believe I forgot a photo of that! LOL

Sunday- rest day!

My hubs just got back last night from a work trip and both kids are home yay! We plan to spend a relaxing day hanging out at the pool together hoping the weather cooperates. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there!

Tell me: Have you left a sweaty butt print anywhere? Inquiring minds want to know!

Tomorrow’s Meatless Monday >>Crispy Chick Pea & Farro Power Bowls with Tahini Dressing come back and check it out!

The humidity definitely kicked in this week! We have cushions on the chairs at our kitchen table and if we eat breakfast after a workout there are definitely sweaty butt prints left behind. Great job this week!

The heat and humidity this past week was so crazy! It was super humid during my long run yesterday. When i sat on a bench to tie my shoe after my run I did leave a sweaty butt print lol!

I was so sweaty on my run this morning that people were smiling–maybe laughing–as they passed me by. It was bad. The humidity has really dropped now and it’s quite pleasant. Whew!

Are you guys in an indoor pool or outdoor pool?
I hope your weather cooperates so you can have more pool time!

Our gym opens up the pool in the summertime so we are outside now. It’s fabulous

LOL, today I stood up for a while at Starbucks to “dry off” before I sat down to eat. We rode across Key Bridge a few hours after your run. It was humid! So nice your kids are home for Father’s Day. My husband is on his own today.

The heat and humidity this week have been awful! I actually left a sweaty butt print on my back patio after a run this week. LOL I sat on the porch to cool off in the shade. Good luck with your tri! It is definitely going to be hot in July! Have a great week!

If I run before strength training, I’d leave butt prints on all the machines if I didn’t wipe them down after! Hope you had a great family day at the pool!

      06/18/2017 at 7:55 pm

Ha ha yes there’s that too! Thanks we sure did have a great day

Outdoor swimming is soooo nice when it’s hot! You had a great week!

It is embarrassing I think I left one on an Uber driver’s seat too!

Are you kidding? I am a sweaty mess after any kind of exertion!

We keep going back & forth between summer & rain (and often a cool rain). So sick of rain. 🙁

Hope you got your pool relaxing yesterday (jealous! visiting my parents is always an all day affair, but then again, how many more mothers/fathers days do they have) — and DC is awesome for running! I didn’t run when I lived near there, but I walked everywhere!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/19/2017 at 2:34 pm

I forgot you used to live here. I bet you don’t miss the humidity

  11. Teresa says

Sweaty butt prints are left everywhere this butt sits post run during the summer months! lol

Your tri training pics look so fun! You ladies make a tough sport look easy. 🙂 I’m about to load my bike up now and try to get some miles in before the rain comes!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/19/2017 at 2:35 pm

Yes sweaty butt prints all around. It’s not easy I just fake it well 🙂

  12. Lesley says

    06/19/2017 at 8:47 am

All the time! It’s hard not to leave a sweaty butt print after a run in Texas summer, even indoors. When I was using a gym, I’d bring a towel for my car seat since it was fabric.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/19/2017 at 2:38 pm

Yes I have to remember to bring a towel everywhere!

  13. Sharon says

    06/19/2017 at 12:26 pm

Sounds like a great week of workouts! Love the hot weather hack of using frozen towels. I will have to try that! Great job on working on your bike run brick. My weakness would definitely be swimming.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/19/2017 at 2:41 pm

The swim is short so it doesn’t tire me out as much. I am wiped by the time I get to the run

I love workouts on my Bosu! Nice job on getting out in the heat this week. It was so rough. And yes for the sweaty butt prints, lol!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/19/2017 at 6:43 pm

It sure was a rough one with more to come!
