This past week was hopefully my last week of feeling the December Madness. You know what I mean-frantically rushing around trying to purchase and deliver all the gifts and thank you’s. I keep thinking I am done and then my son will say, “oh yeah I need a gift for xxx” today thanks mom. Anyway…here’s a quick recap of my week in workouts. I completely forgot what I did this week and had to look back on IG to remember. Anyone else have to do that?

Weekly Wrap December Madness

Monday-45 min elliptical + 60 min strength training

Tuesday-4.25 mile run

Perfect weather day for a run with friends right around 40 degrees and sunny.

Weekly Wrap December Madness

First night of Hanukkah was a little more low key than usual. With one child still away at school and one running off to coach his basketball team it was well, more December Madness. Menorah was lit and had some fun with the bitmoji app.

Weekly Wrap December Madness

Wednesday- 15 min elliptical + 90 min kickboxing and strength training

Practicing some new variations on kicks (hello glutes) and doing lots of core work.

Weekly Wrap December Madness

Thursday- 4.25 mile run

It’s getting cold out there but that never stops us  me from getting the group photo. My friends kind of know it’s part of the run. ha ha

Weekly Wrap December Madness

In case you missed it on my Instagram…I tried my first session of Acupuncture and Cupping. Not at all what I expected. I plan to do a full review in a few weeks so stay tuned for that.

Weekly Wrap December Madness

Friday- Hot Yoga 60 min

I love love hot yoga in the winter time. Fabulous way for me to stretch after warming up my muscles. Does it still count as going if I did not get a photo?

Saturday-45 min elliptical

Group run postponed to Sunday after last night’s icy mess we received. Too slippery out there. My daughter made it home and I am looking forward to having her around for the next few weeks.

Weekly Wrap December Madness

Sunday- on the schedule: Group run + CycleBar class with my MRTT group

Updates:

My shin/calf is definitely feeling way better. I plan to keep the mileage low the next week and then take off a week of running while we are away over Christmas. Hopefully that will knock it all out and allow me to heal fully.

Don’t miss tomorrow’s Meatless Monday: Spicy Thai Tofu Noodle Soup

Mark your calendars for the next Ultimate Coffee Date: January 6th

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

I’m jealous of your runs! I’ve been battling a cold and haven’t run since Tuesday. It’s killing me lol. I’m glad your daughter made it home safely! Today I’ll deliver one batch of presents to my boyfriend’s family so that’ll be at their house on Christmas Day. Then I just have to wrap presents that got mailed to my parents house. So close to being fully done.

I’m getting caught up–but I don’t feel that it ever is done until the holidays are over! It gets overwhelming but as long as I get my workouts in, I”m good.

Looking forward to your cupping review – I have been meaning to try it but I’m a little scared!

Love that you’re getting to spend so much quality time with your children over the holiday break 🙂

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/17/2017 at 7:49 pm

I am going to try it one more time before writing my review. I did really like it. I was scared too!

I’m definitely having December madness. I’ve bought more than my share of Secret Santa gifts for the kids to give and Thing 2 came home from a sleepover sick yesterday so missed one of the parties I bought gifts for. Ugh. Can’t wait for the acupuncture/cupping report!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/17/2017 at 7:52 pm

It’s a crazy time all around. Review coming soon-I wanted to try it one more time

Yes, I am pretty much ready for Christmas and the rest of the holiday season. I need a few stocking stuffers (and one more trip to the PO to mail some stuff), but I can see the finish line 😉 I’m so glad to hear your leg is feeling better!!!!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/17/2017 at 7:53 pm

Thanks so much so am I!

You were rocking it this week with your workouts! I’m curious to see what you thought about cupping. Ben is a huge fan of acupuncture, but we’ve never tried cupping!
Also, those gingerbread drinks are so cute!
I keep thinking that all of my holiday shopping is finished but then I realize it’s NOT! And I started in November!
BUT, I’m still trying to soak it all up because it’ll be over before we know it!

Great job this week! I’ll be waiting to hear your review on the acupuncture and cupping. And you just reminded me that I need to buy a yoga pass so that I can take a few hot yoga sessions this winter. It really is the best!

I feel like I’m always forgetting my workouts but I don’t always post them to IG so sometimes I can’t figure it out!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/17/2017 at 7:56 pm

I love the hot yoga in the winter time and now I just have to stick to going once a week.

This was my weekend of Christmas shopping (for all the things I couldn’t find on Amazon or wanted to buy locally). I did pretty well but still have to wrap everything …. It was great seeing you at CycleBar. I’m in for hot yoga in January.

My mom declares when she’s done shopping, so any ideas I have now go on my birthday list, or if I can’t wait, I’ll buy them. I’m also done with shopping, and I have everything shipped out.

  14. AmyC says

December Madness has interfered a little with my usual fitness plans. I lose all motivation if I don’t workout first thing in the morning. I really need to work on that!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/18/2017 at 8:35 am

I work out in the morning too-great way to start the day right. I get so tired by the end of the day

  15. Agness of Fit Travelling says

    12/19/2017 at 6:09 am

That combination of kickboxing and strength training seems great, Deb. I’ll have to give it a try. December is a really changing month so you have to be organized to manage everything. 😉

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/19/2017 at 12:23 pm

Yes December is a month of all kinds of changes indeed

  16. Teresa says

Ugh, my December madness is in overdrive right now!! I’m seriously anxious to read your review on the cupping… I may need this after my marathon!

Your daughter is beautiful, just like her Mom and those gingerbread men hanging on the side of your cups are just too cute!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/19/2017 at 5:16 pm

Aw thanks I am enjoying spending time with her this week. We found the gingerbread at William Sonoma and brought them into the coffee shop! I tried the cupping again today and I will be posting a review in January. Stay tuned!
