I have a much less vigorous Weekly Wrap to share this week as we have been away on a little vacation in Arizona all week long. I had intended to use this week as a cut back week but had to throw in some exercise of course. Joining in with Wendy and Hoho for the Weekly Wrap Arizona Style. I will throw in a few more photos than usual because the views are magnificent.

Weekly Wrap Arizona Style

Sunday-rest day

After a quick monthly Soup Club exchange, we headed to the airport to catch our flight to Phoenix.

Monday-rest day

We drove a little over 2 hours from Phoenix to Sedona. Explored around the town a bit but unfortunately the weather was not great. It was raining and a little colder than we had hoped for. Staying in a gorgeous resort with spectacular views sure helps though.

The red rocks truly are magnificent even on a rainy and cloudy day.

Tuesday- 1 hour yoga and treadmill power walk 2.5 miles

Woke up to another rainy and cold day so hit the treadmill for a quick power walk. We decided to make it a relaxing spa day with a great massage. Took a yoga class at the hotel that was more of a stretch class but it felt good.

Wednesday-Drove to Grand Canyon +3 mile treadmill power walk

We drove about 2 hours to see the Grand Canyon. Despite the fact that it was snowing pretty hard up there and crazy cold, it was really magnificent to see. The photos do not do it justice but trust me the white snow glistening was a truly beautiful site.

Thursday- 3 mile run

Finally better weather! Drove a few hours to Scottsdale where we were staying with friends for the next few days. Finally got an outdoor run in later in the day. I have become obsessed with all the cactus. They are so much bigger than I expected and really just so interesting looking.

Friday-30 minute Peloton yoga + hiking in Cave Creek 2.5 miles

Went on a very scenic hike with friends in Cave Creek. Such spectacular views and perfect weather.

Saturday- 3.5 mile power walk

I had intended to finally get a proper run in but just was not feeling it all when I started. My shins were bothering me and I could not get out of my own head. Ended up just bailing and doing a power walk. Thinking I need new shoes or I am just not used to running alone and missing my running crew. Anyway, tomorrow is another day. Ended our vacation with an outdoor yoga class. Can’t beat this view!

What a lovely trip! My mother-in-law winters in Arizona and its such a great place to visit during the winter 🙂 Maybe not so much during the summer from what I’ve heard.

Great job getting in a ton of activity while you were there!

I so loved Sedona (but it was fall & beautiful weather). It is one of those places I’d like to get back to one of these days!

I hear you on getting home & getting back in your routine, though.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/10/2019 at 7:26 pm

Your trip looks magnificent. We went to AZ about 15 years ago with the boys. We stayed in Tucson but drove to Sedona and the Grand Canyon. I want to go back. It is truly beautiful. Next time you go, you’ll have to go to the Saguaro National Forest. Cacti as far as the eye can see.

I had trouble running when we were in AZ. I think it’s the dry air. It was hard to breathe!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/10/2019 at 7:28 pm

I hope I get back there soon as well. Just a breathtaking scenic spot. I don’t know what my running issue is lately. My solution is to buy new shoes so I will try that tomorrow and hope to get back on track Tuesday

Yes! On the cactus — I had a conference in Phoenix last May and I was OBSESSED. We had an evening function at Frank Lloyd Wright’s house near Scottsdale and sunset with the cactus – so much distraction.
Looks like you had a wonderful vacation. Hope the shins don’t linger. Can our legs behave please?!

this makes me a little homesick Deborah! have you been to Arizona before? my family is in New Mexico but we tend to fly to Phoenix when we do go to see them (it’s been a while) just to hang out a bit in the dessert and acclimate. I love it so much in the southwest! 10 years ago we did something similar, only we ended up going to Vegas and getting married after the Grand Canyon 🙂

glad you had an amazing time – it’s always nice to get away. What an amazing sight with the snow at Grand Canyon! and sorry you felt a bit off with your solo run.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/11/2019 at 4:54 pm

So incredible! I have never been out to the midwest, and would truly love to visit someday. I hope we can make it happen sooner rather than later – I have a feeling we would all absolutely love it.
