Weekly Run Down-Running out of August

Thanks for joining Kim and me for the weekly run down today. I am happily running out of August just as fast as I can towards fall. It’s another hot and humid one around these parts but that won’t stop me from getting it done. Here’s a peek into my week of fitness.

Running out of August

Monday- Peloton cycle + upper body + core and strength for runners

Celebrated my 650th Peloton cycle class today! I have cut way back on cycling miles this summer to add in more running miles. Always feels great to hit a new milestone.

Tuesday- core + upper body + strength for runners

Unplanned run rest day. My foot started feeling a little weird yesterday so I thought it a good idea to take a day off of running. Of course, I am having a mini freak out. Fingers crossed it is no big deal.

Wednesday- Peloton cycle + core + stretch

Continued to take it easy. Ended up begging my Ortho to fit me in for an X-ray to rule out any type of stress fracture. Thankfully, I am fine. He thinks just a little soft tissue inflammation. I am going to take a few more days off of running and let it calm down. Feeling better already!

Thursday- core + Pool Running

Sticking to my plan of letting my foot rest, I opted to hop into the pool for a fluid running class. I forgot how challenging these classes can be! A great mix of cardio, strength, and core. Perfect for our hot and steamy weather.

running out of August

Friday- Core + Peloton full body  strength + stretch

Got in a solid lower and upper body strength class today. Definitely going to feel those tomorrow.

Saturday- usual rest day with stretch and 10 min core

Treated myself to a mani pedi today. My favorite way to do a rest day. My foot is feeling a lot better but still not 100%.

Sunday-  6 mile run

It went pretty well. Kept at an easy pace and my foot feels okay. Yay!

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

I hope your foot feels better and that you can get in your run today! Pool running sounds like such a perfect activity for this week.

I’m glad to hear that your foot pain was not anything serious. Did you figure out what was causing it? Thank goodness you had Fluid Running, right? Good luck on your run today.

NO, I have not figured out exactly what it is. They said soft tissue irritation. Heading out now for my run fingers crossed it’s ok

I hope your foot continues to feel better…no time for aches or pains! We had a lot of humidity this past week (well, that’s been the story all summer, this year at least). Good luck with your run today!

Fingers crossed for you! I didn’t run much this week & have to say my Achilles did enjoy that.

Glad your doctor made you feel better about it! Good luck!

With last week’s humid weather, pool running sounds like a nice option with or without a foot injury. Hope the foot is back to 100% and doesn’t flare up again.

Have a great week and thanks for the linkup!

You really played it smart this week- all those days off (of running) and you hopefully nipped that problem in the bud. Glad to hear your run today went well! Hope it feels good moving forward.

You know it is really hard to take off a few days but I am always glad when I do. I am feeling a lot better thanks

Glad your foot felt OK today and yay for the quick answer from your ortho. Those kind of docs who understand our timing are just the best.
Getting a pedi today and can’t wait – was on tap for Friday but never fit it in, it’s a wonderful reward after yesterday’s antics.

      08/29/2021 at 12:08 pm

Yes enjoy your pedi too! Always a nice treat for our running feet

Awesome job playing it safe and resting your foot this week. So happy to hear that your foot is feeling better. It’s so scary to get an injury while training for a race.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/30/2021 at 7:24 am

Yes it is! It is feeling a lot better and will probably baby it a little more this next week

Congrats on the milestone! Hoping there is no more trouble with the foot. You are so close to your race! A manicure/pedicure sounds amazing. I rarely get manicures but do like pedicures. I am way overdue for one. Need to make time for one.

Yes I am finally close! It is feeling better but will back off a touch until my race. Definitely treat yourself to a pedicure
