Weekly Run Down Running Into August

Thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down today. This month I am all about building up my miles for September and October races. Still nursing a little bit of a sore hamstring but it’s a lot better and does not seem to be any worse by running.

weekly run down

Running into August

Monday- upper body + core + cycle + hip mobility

Starting my Monday off strong (with strong coffee) and an all-around workout. I love the feeling of a new week and a new month ahead. Started Matty’s August core challenge (with Kim, Michelle, Coco, and Cari) for some more group motivation.

running into August

Went to the Phillies and Nats baseball game with my son and hubs. We had a great time and I stayed up way past my bedtime.

running into August

Tuesday- 4.5 mile run + core

Up and at it early bird style with one of my BRF’s. Happy it was not as hot today! I was really dragging by afternoon due to the late game and early rising. Always worth it though.

running into August

Wednesday- Core + full body + Peloton cycle + 3.5 mile walk

I added back in some lower body strength today. I have been laying off it to protect my hamstring but it was time to bring it back. So far so good.

running into August

Thursday-4.5 mile run + core + stretch

Slightly cooler temps were welcome this morning although I apparently still sweat a lot. I had to take advantage before the heat comes roaring back this weekend. Our run trail is perpetually under construction just like we are.

running into August

Friday- full body strength + core + yoga

Thought it would be fun to create my own “hot yoga” experience out on the deck. It was not. It was just way too hot.

The hubs and I opted for a last minute date night in town. DC has a mask mandate again indoors. We were able to grab a table outside and enjoy a nice evening with views of The Capitol.

Saturday- Rest day

Hanging by the pool. Will do my daily stretch and 10 min core.

Sunday- on the plan 10 mile run

Goal is not to melt. It’s going to be another hot one.

That’s my run down. How are you running into August?

Looks like a great week! It was nice to have some cooler weather for a few days but it looks like this week will be another hot one. Glad your hamstring is improving!

Yes it does look like we have a hot one ahead! We got this. Fall has to come soon right?

The week started out gorgeous, didn’t it? That’s a great picture of you and the hubs. It’s great that you were able to snag a table outside with a view!

I’m barely running into August because I’m focusing on training for the century and riding as much as I can, leaving me with only one day a week to run.

Thanks for the linkup and have a great week!

IT is a great time of the year to back off running if you are not training for a fall race. The September cherry blossom this year is kind of forcing me to do long runs in the summer and less biking.

Yes, the heat is back here too. No mask mandate as yet, but sadly I think it’s coming soon. Ugh. Great week of activity for you!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/08/2021 at 11:52 am

yes I think things are moving in the wrong direction for sure

Oh, good luck on the 10 miler! The humidity doesn’t seem too bad so far today.

Love your date night photo! We’ve eaten inside at Lost Dog, but it’s usually only us and maybe one other table there — and people popping in for their take-out orders.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/08/2021 at 11:53 am

OH it was definitely humid out there today!

Great week for you! We had a few days of low-humidity summer days last week, but all the usual heat (and off-the-charts humidity) returned by the weekend. Such a great pic of you and the hubs!!

      08/08/2021 at 11:53 am

thanks we had a fun night out

So sad to see the mask mandates returning. None here yet, but I’m not holding my breath until it happens. I had a really active week in spite of my injury. I feel you on being tired, tho! Good luck on the hot run today!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/08/2021 at 11:53 am

I did it but it was hard with this heat for sure

Happy that the hamstring is feeling better!

I sweat heavily. I even sweat in Winter!

Fun date night & night at the ball park — sounds like a great week, Deborah, minus the heat.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/08/2021 at 11:54 am

Yes I am a huge sweater as well! We did have a fun date night twice this week

  8. Cari says

    08/08/2021 at 11:11 am

Not to melt indeed. I was thinking of Matty’s glazed donut yesterday in a post-run pic I took. Melted donut was more like it, but we’re somehow surviving summer running
Your hamstring sounds a lot like the end of mine. It didn’t get worse, but seemed to appreciate being slightly babied and I’m happy to do so if it means long term happiness. Even with two long runs this week it was good and I am thrilled because we’re going to kick fall race’s ass.
You look phenomenal btw – Macro work and running clearly working well for you.

I hope you had a great long run today Deborah! Lovely picture of you and your husband at dinner, looks like a fun night. Thanks for hosting the link-up!

Sounds like you had a great week! Glad the hamstring is feeling better. I had to laugh because I’ve had that same thought, “wouldn’t it be great to do some hot yoga out on the patio?” No it would not!!!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/08/2021 at 3:11 pm

no it would really not! LOL

Looks like a really fun week! Going to a baseball game was one of the summer things I haven’t done yet. I need to make sure that happens before it’s too late. Great workouts this week. I hope that hammy continues to behave!

You look absolutely fantastic at dinner and at the game!

I wish we had a mask mandate back here. It would make me feel so much better about things. Outdoor dining is where it’s at.

      08/09/2021 at 7:26 pm

thanks and yes outdoor dining makes me feel a lot safer right now!
