Weekly Run Down Ready Or Not it’s Race Week

Thanks for joining Kim and Me for the weekly run down. Ready or not… it’s race week. Maine half marathon race week. As you are reading this, I am either running or finishing the race in Portland, Maine. I was hoping that my glutes would have been feeling much better by now. Alas, that is not the case. I am going to do my best out there and have fun enjoying the scenery.

Ready or not, it’s race week

Monday- core + hip/glute mobility + upper body strength + yoga

I am keeping my workouts a little lighter this week. Figured a little yoga could do the body good. Nothing like a little time on the mat with Peloton’s Denis.

Happy New Year to my Jewish friends. We had a nice family dinner at my parent’s house to celebrate. I don’t think I’ve had a piece of challah bread since last Rosh Hashana and yes, it’s still delicious.

Tuesday- 4 ish mile run + stretch + barre

I did an extra long warm-up before heading out to run. It is still taking me about 2 miles to really feel warmed up. The second 2 miles went better but still had glute pain when running. The good news is that running does not seem to make it worse. I do have an appointment set up with a PT next week so hopefully, I can get some more answers.

Wednesday- core + upper body + yoga + strength for runners

I am keeping my strength training at a lower volume this week. Today’s workout was a nice mix of all things Peloton classes. I also took a short neighborhood walk.

It was time for a fall hair update. I love my fall shade so much and decided to switch up the cut a bit.

Thursday- 5 mile run + stretch

It was just gorgeous out this morning (sorry Florida) and I was pleasantly surprised that my glutes were feeling much better. Did that steroid finally kick in? Are all of my mobility and warm up exercises helping? Who knows but I will take it. I am still having some pain but it’s significantly better at the moment.

ready or not it's race week

Friday- Travel to Portland via Boston

We opted to fly to Boston and drive about 1.5 hours to Portland. We took a quick stop in Salem for lunch. What a fun, quirky little town. Lots of witchy business going on as our visit also coincided with the release of Hocus Pocus 2 and the start of the Halloween season.

Of course, I did a quick peloton hips yoga class to keep up my streak.

Saturday- Visit the expo

We just strolled around town and visited the expo. I am definitely feeling a little undertrained and a lot under confident. What could go wrong with that combo!?

maine half

Sunday- Maine Half Marathon!

Stay tuned for a full recap soon!

You just might surprise yourself! And if nothing else, have fun!

I visited Salem on a family vacation when I was very young. I don’t remember much except that it is the birthplace of Nathaniel Hawthorne. Looks like you had fun!

My colleague was talking about her challah bread, I told her she was mean for not sharing. You get a pass since it wouldn’t mail well. Glad you were able to celebrate together. xx
