Weekly Run Down

Weekly Run Down Hoosier Family Style

Thanks for joining Kim and me for the weekly run down today. It was another week of dodging winter weather and getting runs in. We headed to Bloomington, Indiana for the weekend to visit our son and IU and get in some Hoosier Family fun. Here is a peek into my week of fitness.

weekly run down

Monday- Full body strength + core + Peloton cycle

Never miss a Monday. “Attitudes are contagious make yours worth catching” was my IG post today. Starting my week off strong gives me a shiny outlook for the week. Did I mention it snowed and then sleeted again yesterday?

Hoosiers weekly run down

I had an afternoon coffee date in person with Coco! Yay for catching up with friends.

Hoosier weekly run down

Tuesday- 6 mile run + core + stretch

It was another icy and cold morning around here. I had hill repeats on my plan and darned if I was not going to go them outside. It was humbling to try to run up and down hills with a headwind but I sure went accomplished afterward. Finished with a smile on my face (a frozen smile ha).

hoosier weekly run down

Wednesday- upper body strength + core + Peloton Cycle

I am enjoying doing more strength and a little less cardio lately. As I am doing more intense run training, this seems to be working well for me.

Thursday- 6.5 mile tempo run + stretch

I was stressed about our forecasted weather but our snowstorm never materialized. Week 2 of my run training challenge had me doing multiple repeats of 30 sec, 1 min, 2 min, and 3 min intervals at tempo pace. I am still getting used to finding this pace and ended up running them a little too fast. That 3 minute one at the end was spicy! Overall, I felt pretty darn good about this run.

weekly run down

Friday- travel day

We headed to Indiana to visit our Hoosier in Bloomington. Planned rest day with a Peloton core and stretch thrown in so I can keep up my streak! We had a nice dinner with our son and walked around the town a bit.

Hoosiers

Saturday- 8 mile run + stretch + core

I do love to run through the Indiana campus and always get a boost from the energy I feel there. It was really chilly and hilly this morning but I got it done. I am just finishing my second week of my program and already seeing and feeling major improvements. My paces are trending faster and more consistent and I am excited for next week.

Hoosier

We did an after “escape the room” that we did not actually escape but had lots of fun. We took our son and a big group of his friends out to dinner.

Sunday- IU basketball game + Peloton core + stretch

We are off for the big IU v Michigan basketball game today. After their big win over Purdue a few days ago, the campus energy is contagious.

I survived week 2 of my Matt Wilpers run coaching program and I am surprised that I am enjoying it so much. I am seeing benefits already. It is always fun to spend some time on a college campus and I am glad we had a few days with our favorite Hoosier. We will be back for graduation in May. How did that happen so fast?!

I’m glad Matt’s training program is going well for you! I bet it’s really exciting in Bloomington! I’m hoping to catch the game this afternoon (in between biking outings). Both MSU & Iowa were victorious this weekend, so I’m feeling giddy over basketball:-)

That post about contagious attitudes resonated all week. It’s true too of the runners’ high. So glad you’re feeling the effects of and enjoying the training cycle. Given how many years your kids have been at Indiana, I met you could make a fun collage of your photos at the gates. Yay for a catchup with Coco too.
