Thanks for joining Kim and me for the weekly run down today. It was another week of dodging winter weather and getting runs in. We headed to Bloomington, Indiana for the weekend to visit our son and IU and get in some Hoosier Family fun. Here is a peek into my week of fitness.
Monday- Full body strength + core + Peloton cycle
Never miss a Monday. “Attitudes are contagious make yours worth catching” was my IG post today. Starting my week off strong gives me a shiny outlook for the week. Did I mention it snowed and then sleeted again yesterday?
I had an afternoon coffee date in person with Coco! Yay for catching up with friends.
Tuesday- 6 mile run + core + stretch
It was another icy and cold morning around here. I had hill repeats on my plan and darned if I was not going to go them outside. It was humbling to try to run up and down hills with a headwind but I sure went accomplished afterward. Finished with a smile on my face (a frozen smile ha).
Wednesday- upper body strength + core + Peloton Cycle
I am enjoying doing more strength and a little less cardio lately. As I am doing more intense run training, this seems to be working well for me.
Thursday- 6.5 mile tempo run + stretch
I was stressed about our forecasted weather but our snowstorm never materialized. Week 2 of my run training challenge had me doing multiple repeats of 30 sec, 1 min, 2 min, and 3 min intervals at tempo pace. I am still getting used to finding this pace and ended up running them a little too fast. That 3 minute one at the end was spicy! Overall, I felt pretty darn good about this run.
Friday- travel day
We headed to Indiana to visit our Hoosier in Bloomington. Planned rest day with a Peloton core and stretch thrown in so I can keep up my streak! We had a nice dinner with our son and walked around the town a bit.
Saturday- 8 mile run + stretch + core
I do love to run through the Indiana campus and always get a boost from the energy I feel there. It was really chilly and hilly this morning but I got it done. I am just finishing my second week of my program and already seeing and feeling major improvements. My paces are trending faster and more consistent and I am excited for next week.
We did an after “escape the room” that we did not actually escape but had lots of fun. We took our son and a big group of his friends out to dinner.
Sunday- IU basketball game + Peloton core + stretch
We are off for the big IU v Michigan basketball game today. After their big win over Purdue a few days ago, the campus energy is contagious.
I survived week 2 of my Matt Wilpers run coaching program and I am surprised that I am enjoying it so much. I am seeing benefits already. It is always fun to spend some time on a college campus and I am glad we had a few days with our favorite Hoosier. We will be back for graduation in May. How did that happen so fast?!
I’m glad Matt’s training program is going well for you! I bet it’s really exciting in Bloomington! I’m hoping to catch the game this afternoon (in between biking outings). Both MSU & Iowa were victorious this weekend, so I’m feeling giddy over basketball:-)
I am excited about the game-my first college basketball game in person. The energy on campus is exciting!
Great job with your run training! Sounds like you’re going to make tremendous gains! Have so much fun visiting your son. There’s nothing quite like a college campus on game day.
Agreed the campus is a buzz this weekend despite the chilly temps. We are having fun hanging with our son and his friends
Love that you are also on the strength train (pun intended!). It sounds like it is paying off on the road. Enjoy the game today. I love those Big 10 matches!
Yes, I have always been a ST lover and have found a great mix that is working for me right now. Big 10 games are always fun and it’s been a great weekend so far

Can’t remember whether I told you on IG but that blue outfit is HOT, HOT, HOT! Love that you met up with Coco and so happy that you are already seeing improvements in your running! I have a good feeling about this Half! Hope this coming week is awesome.
ah thanks yes one of my fave outfits and it is always fun to see Coco in person. I have a good feeling about this half as well not to jinx anything yet
How fun that you’re visiting your son this weekend! I love being on college campuses and the energy that comes along with it.
Congrats on the progress you’re making with your training. It always feels good when you see results from your hard work, doesn’t it?

Sounds like a great week Deborah! Hooray for seeing your son & keeping up with your workouts. Sounds like the program is working great for you!
it is always fantastic spending time with our son
So great that you’re visiting your son! It sounds really fun. And that run training program sounds great. I agree, it’s so hard to find that pace for the tempo runs. I’ll be interested to hear how this all plays out for your next race. Enjoy the basketball game!
It is hard to figure out tempo pace and stick with it too
Great to hear that you’re enjoying Matt’s program and seeing some benefits!
Enjoy the game today! I didn’t realize that your son is a senior – how exciting!
I cannot believe he is graduating already! It all went by so fast
It’s great that you are figuring out that training program. That hard work will pay off! Our weather is so uncooperative this week!
Enjoy the time with your son!
Our weather was a little challenging this week! I don’t mind the cold but the icy conditions are a pain! We had a great weekend thanks
Sounds like your training is going really well, and yay meetups!

Yes, running friends are definitely the best friends
That Sweaty Betty top looks great on you! I need to pull mine out…it’s toasty!
When its that cold don’t your ears get cold? I lose so much heat from my head and hands!
Sounds like a fun weekend visiting your son!
Ha yes, my ears and chin get so cold. I had a buff on and just pushed it down for my photo 🙂 Gotta do what you have to do. I do love the SB top and I just got another one I may pull out this week 🙂
That post about contagious attitudes resonated all week. It’s true too of the runners’ high. So glad you’re feeling the effects of and enjoying the training cycle. Given how many years your kids have been at Indiana, I met you could make a fun collage of your photos at the gates. Yay for a catchup with Coco too. Looks like a great week all around even with the weird weather
I know we have been Hoosiers for 7 years now! I will be sad to see those times come to an end soon.Yes those runners high feelings are contagious
Sounds like a great week end visiting your son. The Indiana Campus is very beautiful.
