Weekly Run Down Hello October It’s Taper Week

Thanks for joining Kim and Me for the Weekly Run Down today. Well, Hello October it’s nice to see you. Have I told you that you are my favorite? It’s taper time for me this week so I am taking it easy on workouts. I will finally be running the Wine Glass Half Marathon on Sunday. I know that I will serve myself well by taking it easy this week so that’s what I did. Here is a peek into my week.

weekly run down

Hello October! It’s Taper Week

Monday- Peloton cycle + core + upper body and stretch

I do like to hit it hard on Mondays. Today, I still did all of my normal workouts but cut the workout time in half. I do not want to be sore for the race.

weekly run down

Tuesday- 4 mile run + stretch

Easy peasy run today on a day that felt much more like summer than fall.

weekly run down

Wednesday- core class + stretch + 2 mile walk

Keeping it in low gear again today. I do not want to be sore from strength training so I just did core. Starting to get a little antsy though!

Thursday 4 mile run + stretch + Drive to Corning, NY

Hello, fall weather! Last run before my half race this weekend. Felt really good out there and excited for race day. My friend and I drove up to Corning this afternoon about 4.5 hours not too bad.

Friday- hip/glute activation + stretch + 6 mile walking around Ithaca

We spent the day walking around Ithaca and Cornell. A fun little town with lots of cute stores and restaurants. We stopped to check out some waterfalls and beautiful scenery. Fall is in full bloom here and I love it!

Saturday- expo and packet pick up

A low key day picking up our race packets and walking around the quaint town of Corning. It is such a cute little town.

Sunday- Wine Glass Half Marathon

It’s finally racing day after a long taper week. Can’t wait to tell you all about it next week!

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

We kind of had similar weeks. I wasn’t tapering, but in a bit of a recovery mode from the previous weekend, so I kept things pretty light and low-impact. I’ll be thinking ofyou (as I sit on a cramped airplane LOL) this morning…good luck!
