Thanks for joining Kim and Me for the Weekly Run Down today. While Valentine’s Day is not until tomorrow, I am in a loving mood this week. I’ve been crushing on running all month long and this week we are in sync. Here is a peek into my week.

Weekly Run Down

Monday- Upper & Lower body strength + core + Peloton cycle

Starting off my Monday strong just the way I like it. A little bit of everything today to start off my new week and a new month.

Tuesday- 6 mile hill workout + stretch

My run plan called for 15 minutes of hill repeats at tempo pace. I was nervous about pulling off this workout but have to admit, I really enjoyed it.

Wednesday- upper & lower body strength + core + Peloton recovery ride

You know those classes where you know you will be sore immediately? That was me after my lower body strength today. It is amazing how a short lower body class can be so effective. Yup, I am going to feel that one tomorrow!

Thursday- 6 mile tempo run + stretch

I was a little nervous when I saw the workout for today that included 4 sets of 5 minutes and tempo pace. It was a gorgeous day and I had my running buddies along for the fun. We got it done.

Friday-upper & lower body strength + core + stretch

I got side tracked and ran out of time for my workout today. I did not get onto my Peloton bike but a good solid hour of strength is a win.

Saturday- Rest Day and ax throwing

Yes, you read that right! Doesn’t every couple enjoy going ax throwing as a Valentine’s Day weekend activity? We had a date day which also included a movie and dinner. I have not been to an actual theater in forever. Just like old times and by old times I mean 2019. Ax Throwing was so much fun and a lot harder than it seems. Let’s just say that I hope I never have to be in a horror movie situation where I need to defend myself. LOL.

Valentine's day

My husband also ordered this fabulous cake off of GoldBelly from “we take the cake” in Florida and it sure was worth the splurge,

Valentine's day

Sunday- on the plan 10 Mile run

With my Asheville Half marathon now 5 weeks away, it’s time to ramp up to some double digit runs. It was 60 degrees yesterday and it is snowing this morning. Crazy! I will get it done though.

Happy to have survived week 5 of my run training program. I am feeling a lot stronger on my runs and learning to run at different paces. Bring on week 6/8.

Hope you all had a fun weekend. Any Valentine’s Day happenings?

I was going to comment that it looks warm there–60 degrees sounds amazing! It’s so cold here that motivation is hard to find. But I have a 15 mile trail run in April, so I need to up my miles as well. Nice work!

I was surprised to see snow coming down when I headed to bed last night…I haven’t peeked outside to see what’s awaiting me. That ax throwing sounds fun…and that cake!!! Ooh-la-la!!!!! Enjoy your 10-miler 🙂

When I saw it was 60 there, I suspected you were going to have to “pay” for that with some nasty weather after. Isn’t that always the way? Axe throwing looks fun in the craziest way. What a gorgeous cake!

      02/13/2022 at 1:42 pm

Ax throwing was so much fun! Yes, the cake is beautiful and delish too. Already had a taste

Ax throwing. Interesting. Seems like it could be dangerous in couples. 🙂

That cake! Gorgeous! But better that it tasted great.

I still need to plan a dinner for Valentine’s Day, but we will be staying home. I did take some cookies to my daughter and her roommates though. They were the pretty frosted kind (the kind I can’t make!). My friend has a new business selling them so it was nice to also support a friend as well. Great job on the training this week. Hill repeats (at tempo!!) are a tough one. Well done! You will be ready to crush that half if you keep up with these workouts!

Well, let’s see- I won’t be doing any axe throwing, but I am going to make a heart-shaped cake for Valentine’s Day. It won’t look quite as amazing as your cake though! It’s a Florida-based company? I hope it tasted as good as it looks!
Great week of running. I’m glad it’s feeling good. Hope your snowy long run went well!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/13/2022 at 1:56 pm

You totally crushed your week of workouts, love the green tights and 😎! I managed to get in some peloton activity this week too!

Having a double date of ax throwing definitely looked like fun!

Funny, your husband ordered off Goodbelly, as I ordered a yummy piecaken for my sister in law and her family to enjoy for Valentine’s Day!

    Happy Valentine’s Day!! ❤️❤️

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/13/2022 at 1:57 pm

I saw the Piecaken it’s very popular. I don’t like cheese cake or pecan pie so not for me. I am a straight chocolate girl! Hope you had a good week

All that sun and pretty flowery leggings!! I need to do some proper training now I’ve got my stamina up again (and my hand improving). Not something where it’s going to really hurt the next day yet, though! Well done you!

    Congrats on another solid week!
Love your boots and your friend’s. Hadn’t actually looked at the pic when we were talking about their possible knee impact. Are your Tuesday tights Rainier? I saw them on the site but my store didn’t have – they look so different in action.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/13/2022 at 6:19 pm

yes those are the ranier and yes they look different in person. I like them. I love the boots but it was the first time wearing them so I guess I need to break them in

      • Cari says

        02/13/2022 at 6:39 pm

oh me too on the Rainier if that wasn’t clear. There are some patterns that just don’t work in online store layouts but are so much better when in use

        • Deborah Brooks says

          02/13/2022 at 9:26 pm

          yes I agree!

  14. Jessie says

    02/13/2022 at 8:42 pm

It looks like you’re wearing the Down for It All Jacket- you must have been roasting! That’s a very warm jacket…I get warm in it in single digits 🙂

    That cake looks incredible. YUM.

I hope you had a fabulous 10 miler!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/13/2022 at 9:27 pm

It was much colder that day but yes I was warm 🙂
