Thanks for joining Kim and me for the weekly run down. This week, not too much exciting going on. I’m okay with that as we needed some down time. I crushed my sleep goals this week!
Weekly Run Down
Sunday- 3.75 miles run/walk + stretch
The lower humidity and temps this morning helped a lot. I felt stronger with the intervals today and thinking about upping them towards the end of the week.
Later, popped in for a quick visit with my parents.
Monday- Peloton walk + upper body strength + core + barre + Peloton cycle
Starting out my Monday with a strong coffee and a strong workout. Just the way I like it.
Tuesday- 4 miles run/walk Intervals + stretch + afternoon walk
With a nice break in the humidity, today’s run felt a lot better. I still have a long way to go but making progress.
Wednesday- 2 mile walk + upper body strength + core and barre
It was nice this morning and it was great to have a catch up walk with a friend. Next, got in my Peloton strength stack for the day.
Did you catch my “stretch of the day” on IG?

Thursday-4.25 mile run/walk + cool down walk and stretch
I upped my run walk intervals to 4:1 today-baby steps you know. Humidity was in full force this morning again. Great running friends bad selfie lol
Friday- Peloton walk + cycle + full body strength + core + stretch
Today, I got in a little bit of everything workout wise. My hip/glute is still bugging me and not sure what is going on with it. No workout photo today but I did nail my sleep score via Oura! It’s tough to get a score over 90 but I’ve been working on it and achieved it twice this week.
Saturday-scheduled rest day + stretch
While technically a rest day, I was pretty busy! Somehow our dinner with one couple turned into a whole big thing. We decided to do a tribute to all of our Italy food we loved. I was pretty proud of how my table decor came out. I will share in the coffee date Friday!

8 hours of sleep. FOMO
Glad to see your running is going well.
Cooler temps and lower humidity does help. And friends.
Looking forward to seeing your table decor.
Deborah Brooks says
I would not say it’s going well but I am making small improvements

Since getting back from Cali, I have been winning at sleep. I think I had 2 nights of 10-11 hours this week! Clearly, i needed it. Looks like a great week overall for you. I hope your hip issue calms down.
Deborah Brooks says
Wow 10-11 hours!? I’m not sure I could sleep that much but sounds like your body needed it
Chocolaterunsjudy says
Hope the hip & glute calm down, but you’re doing a great job getting back out there!
Mmmmm. Italian food. Sounds like fun!
Have a great week, Deborah!
Deborah Brooks says
I am slowly getting back there it’s going to take a while. Yes, the food was amazing
Coco says
I’ve been doing better with my sleep, but I’ve got a long way to go. In Europe I went to bed early most nights, but tossed and turned a lot and had to drag myself out of bed. Now I’m trying to take advantage of the jet lag to go to be earlier.
Deborah Brooks says
That sounds like a great plan!
Debbie says
It’s so good to see you back out with your tribe!
I’m looking forward to seeing your table decor for your Italian dinner party. Perhaps I can steal some ideas for our annual February IDP!
Deborah Brooks says
I have some great ideas! Happy to share with you
Liz Dexter says
I’m doing quite well with my sleep recently, you do feel better, don’t you! Love the runfie!
Deborah Brooks says
Sleep makes a huge difference for me glad you are feeling good!
Melissa says
ooh a taste of Italy sounds amazing!
I have a hard time getting in 8 hours. I wake up before 5 a.m. and the kids go to bed around 830 so I don’t always vet a chance to get in bed on time. I need more!
Deborah Brooks says
I could never function if I got up at that hour!
Kimberly Hatting says
Major UGH on the hip/glute annoyance! I hope it’s nothing serious and mellows for you. It was about a year ago that I was dealing with a similar issue. Great job on all that sleep! That’s one area I need to work on (though I don’t “feel” sleep-deprived…which makes it tough!).
Deborah Brooks says
I had that piraformis issue a year ago and this is in a nearby spot but different and just as annoying.
Marcia says
Hope that hip/glute calms down soon! I enjoyed one of those low humidity runs this morning and the cooler temps were like jet fuel after the blazing heat we’ve had. Cannot wait to hear about your dinner party! Sounds so fun!
Deborah Brooks says
Dinner party was so fun!
Jenny says
Wow- I wish I could say I’m crushing my sleep goals! Good for you. I also have to start doing your stretches- that’s another area I need work in.
i’m glad running is feeling better and better! Progress, not perfection, right? You look incredibly strong in all your photos. And… I’m looking forward to hearing about the Italian feast!
Deborah Brooks says
Coming back to running is hard and slower than I expected by I am going to keep doing what I am doing. Stretching has been really beneficial for me
Susanne says
Yay for strong coffee and a strong workout!
I’m so glad you’re out running again and I can imagine you have a long way to go, but you’re on your way!
How nice with an Italian dinner! I look forward to reading more about it.
I feel like it takes forever to fall asleep and that my sleep has been very poor sleep lately but my Fitbit keeps telling me it’s great. Who knows!
Deborah Brooks says
I do have a long way to go and I know you know how that feels. We will both keep making progress
San says
What’s your strategy to improve your sleep goal? Is it just sleep length or…? I am using the Sleep Cycle app and don’t know how good the sleep quality score is but I usually hover around 70%, even if I think I got a really good night of sleep.
Strong coffee + strong coffee is a great combination. Do you do coffee first or workout first?
Deborah Brooks says
I am sure every tracker has a different algorithm for sleep. I use Oura ring and I believe it is based on time of sleep and amount of time in deep sleep, if you are restless etc. I drink my coffee and breakfast as soon as I get up and usually workout about an hour later
Cari says
Oddly enough, I just started tracking sleep for my Insurance companies bribery err rewards program. I’m curious whether it’s as bad as I think it is.
I love your dinner party. Such a fun idea
Deborah Brooks says
It is always interesting to get a look into your sleep patterns! I’ve learned a lot about mine
Jessie says
Great job being patient with your running. You have a wonderful supportive group of run pals to help you out!
Deborah Brooks says
I do have the best running friends. Patience is not usually one of my virtues but I am working on it
Black Knight says
I’m glad you like our food! Will you come back here in the near future?
Low humidity helps to run better.
I sleep 10 hours every other day: it means when I don’t wake up at 05:30 a.m. to run at 06:00 a.m. (in summer of course).
Deborah Brooks says
I would love to come back anytime! Sleeping 10 hours sounds amazing
Jenn says
Sorry about your hip! We need to get you back to full strength!
Tell your UMiami friend I said hi! i don’t get to see a lot of Hurricanes fan!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, I do need to get back to full strength-not sure what that will look like. Yes, my friend has 2 kids at Miami 🙂
