Thanks for joining Kim and me for the Weekly Run Down. This week we popped into Chicago for our quick visit with our daughter. Don’t worry I kept up my fitness. Here’s a peek into my week.
Weekly Run Down Chicago Style
Sunday- rest day and Peloton stretch
We hosted Mother’s Day brunch for my parents and my sister and her family. It was really nice to break in our new space.
Monday- walk warm up + core + barre + up[er body strength + cycle + stretch
Continuing my Monday habit of hitting the ground running. After all the extra eating this weekend, I was ready to get back on schedule. I was happy to see my 4 year Peloton streak badge pop up. While I have been a Peloton member for almost 5 years, my current streak of not missing a class is now 4 years. Pretty proud of that!
It was my son’s birthday so we took him and his roommates and girlfriend out to dinner. So much for less eating!
Tuesday- 4 mile run/walk + core + stretch
It was a warm one out there today! Still plugging along on my runs and trying to get my endurance back. Our squad showing off our strong runner legs today.
Wednesday -Full body strength + core + stretch + afternoon walk
A full body workout hitting all the good spots. I had a nice deep tissue massage and then met a friend for a walk. What a beautiful spring day to be outside.
Thursday 3 ish mile run/walk + stretch + walk all over Chicago and 2 airports
I headed out for a short run walk before scrambling to get to the airport. We had a lunchtime flight to Chicago for a quick visit with our daughter. It was a gorgeous day in Chicago and we walked for miles all afternoon. We had a great dinner with our daughter and her boyfriend.
Can’t believe I forgot photos!
Friday- Chicago donut walk + city walking
Knowing my daughter had to work today, I came up with a fun walking tour for the hubs and I. We hit up 3 of the most popular downtown donut shops and did a fun walk around the city. Admittedly, I don’t really like donuts! We took one bite of each one at each place so not too much damage done. We spent the afternoon shopping and walking around Chicago. Get the “Hole Story” of our donut walk here.
Saturday- 3.5 mile run + many miles of walking in Chicago
Started out our day with a run along the lakefront trail with my husband. He did much better out there. Must have been the fab weather and fantastic views.
We spent the afternoon walking around the Restaurant Association expo at the convention center. The marketing company where my daughter works put on the show. We logged another 5 miles or so of walking and eating. So much eating! We were totally exhausted and my feet were killing.
It was a whirlwind weekend! Sorry to my Chicago friends that I did not have time to see any of you this time!

Always love running in Chicago!

Wow, this sounds fun. And I’m very impressed that you’ve kept up your Peloton streak for four years, especially with all the traveling you do. That takes real dedication! i’m glad you had so much fun in Chicago- it really is a beautiful city when the weather is nice.

That’s too bad that you couldn’t meet up with the Chicago peeps, but it sure sounds like you had fun!
Deborah Brooks says
it was short but we packed a lot in!
Melissa says
What a fun trip! I love Chicago. I especially love running there because of the city and B areas. And they have such great running trails! I’d you have to try a donut run , A donut run sounds like a lot of fun!
Deborah Brooks says
Bribing my husband with donuts was the way to go!
Cari says
I love the idea of a donut walk even though like you in good with one bite. Unless it’s cinnamon powdered and then all bets are off.
So glad you had a great visit
Deborah Brooks says
ha I am not a huge donut person so one bite was just fine for me.
San says
Congrats on your 4-year streak – that’s a huge milestone! Also nice work on those quads 🙂
I am so happy you get to run with your husband. That must be so nice to get out there together.
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks and yes we are enjoying running together!
Black Knight says
Glad you had a fun trip.
Great photos.
I visited Chicago with my family 24 years ago and I cannot forget how beautiful it is.
I had also the time for a couple of workouts with a friend who lives there.
Deborah Brooks says
It is a fun city to visit. My daughter moved there a few years ago!
Jenn says
I would love to go on a donut tour. Everything around here is so spread out, so you would have to drive from shop to shop. Yum.
I also love that you had such a great Mother’s Day and weekend! Your family photo is perfect!
Deborah Brooks says
It really only works in big cities! A lot of fun though. And thanks our Mother’s Day was nice
Renée says
what a way to end a week with a whirlwind trip to Chicago! not envious at all! haha! Congrats on your 4 year peloton streak! I do like donuts, especially Stan’s but I don’t need more than one (especially at Stan’s) haha! But of course if you eat a whole donut or even three there is no “damage” in that, it’s just eating donuts!
Deborah Brooks says
thankfully, I am not the biggest donut lover so no harm done!
Kim G says
It sounds like you had a great week full of family, fun and yummy food!
I now feel the need to do a donut walking tour in my city – that’s such a great idea!
Deborah Brooks says
we had lots of fun doing it!
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Sounds like a wonderful trip to Chicago! But what, not a donut lover?? Sad! Congrats on the 4 year streak. That’s huge!!
Deborah Brooks says
nah, donuts are not really my jam. I like a cookie or piece of chocolate
